You need a bankroll and the size of it dictates what maximum win you can offer. Crowdsourcing a bankroll would be a preferable option in my opinion as ICOs tend not to work out well.

OK, yes I forgot about *this* bankroll. When I asked why an ICO was needed, it was because I saw that the idea was decent and that an MVP seeemed to have already been in place. Idea was relatively simple, I don't think an ICO was needed (in fact, even a new blockchain and token probably not needed), but yes. Bankroll.

With people mining probably a few cents a day, they'd probably only want to gamble if they could x10,000 it all at once. Then I see a problem there.

Problem is that people use 100% of CPU all time and they not turn off they PC for days,

...and they'll run like that for years on end without any problems.

I think you're right about this guy not being serious though.

I agree hardware is built to last at whichever capacity they can run at. Doesn't make sense to build good processors that only last long if you don't use its max capacity.

I never mined with my CPU properly but I have used it for days on end at close to max and noticed lifespan goes down considerably compared to devices I don't push. But the thing is, external environment. I did that in high temp, high humidity, low ventilation. Not much I could do about it without high costs. End of the day cheaper to replace hardware since they got better at same price every couple of years anyway.

I think a lot of people don't account for that (external env.) and mining becomes the scapegoat.

Seriously, I was CPU and GPU mining in 2012 and it doesn't harm hardware. It was a myth being peddled then and it still is now.

I think the browser mining indicates that the owner doesn't have anything to invest hence making the users pay for it with POW. It might take 24hrs to get something but it only takes a few seconds to click start and then it runs unattended. It is going to be a niche market but it is an innovative idea and it might work quite well.

Problem is that people use 100% of CPU all time and they not turn off they PC for days, this is not something what is consider to be normal use. Depending on user hardware "profit" can be a few hundreds or few thousands BTC satoshi per day, the amount of electricity consumed, slow performance of device and potential damage to hardware are reasons enough to avoid this activity.

It is maybe interesting idea, but I do not see that it could have serious success - at least with this user, site is still down...

I have faucet list for years and user can make more in 10-15 minutes with faucets then with browser mining in 24 hours. You are talking about modern processors, but most of users coming from poor countries, the have very old and slow computers and they are lucky if they stop before make some damage. Browser mining is so low paying, that it can be consider as waste of time, energy and very possible damage to the equipment. Regarding AV, it is true user can add it to exception list - but you'd be surprised how such a thing is a problem for many users.

Maybe simple faucet would be better choice, but for that work, owner need to invest more time and money to get income from ad networks.

I personally do not see that this can be a success, mining with browser using CPU is just waste of time

It's only intended to make small amounts as an alterantive to a faucet.

and can only cause damage to user device.

That is a complete and utter myth. All modern processors have automated systems to reduce the frequency and eventually shut down to protect against any possible overheating.

Also every user who have antivirus software will probably be stopped immediately at the beginning of process, most of them block such activities. OP can try to implement this idea into reality,

Anyone who actually wants to use it can add it to their exception list.

but first he need to fix his site.

That's true.

Site is down for me also, it show problem with SSL certificate :

Code:
An error occurred during a connection to freeca.sh. SSL peer has no certificate for the requested DNS name. Error code: SSL_ERROR_UNRECOGNIZED_NAME_ALERT

I personally do not see that this can be a success, mining with browser using CPU is just waste of time and can only cause damage to user device. It's down for me.

There's something wrong with their SSL certificate, you can visit it if you use http://www.freeca.sh/ instead of https://www.freeca.sh/
I'm just wondering how successful something like this could be, I can't imagine you'd earn a whole lot by browser mining.

This. (Website is running for me)

I think you are definitely onto something here but I too don't understand why there's a need for an ICO...

I. Just. Had. To. Click.

Website is down. But checked out the stuff on Twitter and concept's pretty neat. No risk of own deposits. "Browser mine" crypto and use it to gamble.

if you think about the mentality of most of the forum users who would do anything for $0.05 in crypto, and who're willing to take fractions of cents worth of faucets just to "strike it big", you just might attract the attention of hundreds of willing users all mining and losing their satoshis at your casino. Possibly brilliant.

Burning question: why do you need an ICO for this?

The concept is good and there is definitely a market for this (thing Swagbucks but with better technology).
If you have a MVP then finding funding shouldn't be too difficult and getting devs on board won't be as much of a challenge.
The only thing that I'd recommend is offering slightly higher rewards than traditional faucets and the like as you need to convince all those that are on the edge about gambling their rewards to use your site.
