Staying on the topic of missing tokens, after news that "some guy just sent $1 million to the Swerve token contract and LOST IT ALL" Paulo Ardonio (CTO @bitfinex + CTO @tether_to) tweeted:

Quote
Please open a ticket to @Tether_to support service https://app.tether.to
If it's USDt ERC20 stuck in an address we should be able to recover it, but in order to be sure, please contact our customer support and we'll try our best.

More on how Tether uses its USDT 'recovery mechanism' to restore lost user funds on The Block Crypto

Update, 15 Sept: turns out it was a group of Chinese traders that made the mistake with Tether successfully fixing the issue. Grin

OK thanks @Bttzed03 - I can't go backwards (receive the OCTb tokens in my MetaMask account) I can only go fowards (get OCTb tokens listed on decent exchanges). I'll work on that!

Looks like Copper might be worth me checking out; I know it's where the Radix DLT team (pic below) is having their public sale shortly!  Grin

@stuartgh, what freewallet is really saying is that you won't have your token unlesss OCTb tokens becomes a thing. Ask OCTb token team to work their asses off and list in on decent exchanges.

Hello Stuart,

We have your request on our list. The token routine in our app implies that we need to enable full support of your asset in our financial system. That's why the liquidity of these tokens is so important to us.
Once again, we'd like to remind everyone to carefully check the presence of tokens of your choice in our selection: http://bit.ly/2BzxJKQ

Zero-star rating would fit for them with their shady service.

When did their CS last reply to your email? Try to message them everyday, post on their social media pages

Thanks for your reply @bL4nkcode. Freewallet CS last replied to me on 28 July. I've been emailing & tweeting them since August 2019. I even blogged about it!

Funny thing is Freewallet think I want to have the 150K OCTb tokens on their exchange. I don't. I just want them back.
I'd be happy to give them my MetaMask account details, but they've never asked!  Grin

Random ICO-related pic, with me hanging out with the BABB team.
BABB went on to raise $20m.

All traders make mistakes sooner or later. Hope, Freewallet will solve the case, cause with wallet never let me down.

No positive update from Freewallet after activating the disputes process as outlined under their Terms, sub-section 9.2 within the 'Arbitration' section on 28  July.

Hi Stuartgh,

When it comes to adding new previously unsupported tokens, our focus is on the most liquid assets. As we can see, most exchanges are not reflecting the current price for OCTb tokens, due to the liquidity issues these assets might experience now.
We are on this case and continue to monitor the status of this project.

Hi Freewallet,

No need to mention asset liquidity as I have already raised the whole issue as a 'dispute' under the arbitration section 9 of your (Freewallet) Terms on 28th July.

Unless you are suggesting, by bringing up liquidity for the first time on 5th August, that the official 'dispute' mechanism is 'just for show' and ineffective?

In which case would I need to escalate the issue to the Malta Arbitration Centre for independent consideration, as outlined in your Terms?  Grin

Thanks, you highlight a key point the Freewallet team seem unable to grasp. You have to build a crypto wallet that allows for user mistakes.

And simply telling users that is being dealt with, but then nothing happening (its been 12 months since I first reported my mistake) is not good practice.

So let's see if officially raising this as a dispute works.. Grin

If not then the lesson is clear, Freewallet has no real system to rectify user mistakes. And that is not good for their business, or for users of their service.

Don't expect much from them. That's what they always do, so that when you give up. The money belongs to them.
Always use wallets where you have full control of your ERC20 tokens like Metamask, Myetherwallet, Trust wallet, iMtoken etc. They don't have such funny excuses like "hey our wallet this ERC20 tokens here bu doesn't support the ERC20 token you sent, so lets wait for 3 months to see what our specialists can do"

I mean the wallet supports the Ethereum blockchain, then how the hell doesn't it support an ERC20 token  Angry
What so hard with retrieving the tokens from an Ether address they were sent to and giving them back to the owner? Does the whole process require rocket scientists and a couple of months to figure it out?

As there has no resolution of my issue I raised it as a dispute under the arbitration section 9 of Freewallet's terms:
https://freewallet.org/terms

Confirmation from 28th July, that it's with their 'specialists' for consideration.

Hello,

Thank you for the information.
We have forwarded it to our specialists.
They will contact you as soon as there are any updates for you.

I appreciate your support @JeromeTash and while I understand the "scammer" criticism of @Freewallet that approach isn't going to help me win their support in sorting out my token issue.

Hence my stepped-approach, from (i) emailing support, and contacting their PR lead with a deadline (ii) posting the series of emails and the issue to my blog, to (iii) commenting on Twitter posts (note that tweets from a recent discussion with @Freewallet have been deleted (iv) to pointing to system issues in this community forum.  Smiley

Looking forward to getting the issue resolved.

Hi Freewallet,

The reason I posted this issue here (following on from the issue of the "missing" token for 1.5 months which started this thread) suggests one thing - you don't have a system for dealing with this 'user error'. No system beyond repeating the same words since August 2019, "we are doing everything to find the resolution as soon as possible. Our specialists will contact you as soon as there are any updates for you".
They are scammers. Just look at the feedback they have on their profile. It paints a clear picture of what kind of people are behind this wallet. Untrustworthy, unprofessional and scammers.
There are so many wallets that operate like Freewallet and even also for KYC but why is it that Freewallet has a mountain of scam related issues unlike the rest?
Your guess is as good as mine.

Having systems to deal with customer problems is far from easy, I understand, and therefore I am patient. In the interim, let me entertain you with a story with a happy ending where I resolved a customer issue using a system approach. Maybe it will inspire you?

In 2000, while working for an online ski holiday company I was presented with a problem. Two sisters I thought I had booked into a twin room over the phone, were now told that they would have to share a double bed, as no twin was left. The sisters were not happy at this prospect! So I asked the national tour operator I had booked the holiday with to stand by their confirmation of the twin bed booking. They refused, they said as I had made the booking on the phone rather by the preferred online booking system (which was 'down' at the time) that they would not honour it & therefore not allow an amendment to the booking.

Stumped by the problem, I asked the company directors for guidance and they were also baffled, suggesting that I might use human rights law with the holiday company to get them to budge.

After sleeping on the issue I came back to work the next morning – and drafted a fax to the company. I asked simply if they therefore regarded the telephone booking, and the online booking, as two separate distinct systems? A few hours later, they had a ’surprise’ change of mind, and the twin sisters got their hotel room booking with separate beds.

I hope the participants in this discussion from 2018 don't me picking up the thread, as I have a similar problem after making the mistake of sending OCTb, an ERC-20 token, to Freewallet before it was supported, back in August 2019.

I'm still waiting on a solution, after many emails and tweets; so in case anyone else makes the same mistake I've laid out the discussion with Freewallet on my blog

Any suggestions how best to encourage Freewallet to escalate this to a solution in June 2020?  Smiley

Hi stuartgh,
We are sorry to hear that you had such experience with Freewallet.
At the moment, we still don’t support OCTb tokens.
The full list of currently supported tokens can be found here: http://bit.ly/2BzxJKQ.

We understand that it's very important for you, and we are doing everything to find the resolution as soon as possible.
Our specialists will contact you as soon as there are any updates for you.

This morning, when I woke up, look to the Freewallet App as I always do every morning for 2 months and... THE WABI TOKENS WERE IN MY WALLET!!!!

I want to thank you everybody for your support. The freewallet customer service was slow, and the communication wasnt the best, but the last emails were answered fast and it seems like they are improving. It has been a long and hard way but Freewallet did their part and give my tokens back.

Awesome! Glad to see that everyone was happy at the end and you got your Wabi tokens back. Next time do be more careful when sending any sort of tokens, check if it's the right wallet to send to and if it is going to be compatible with their wallet.

Yes, their service was slow. But hey, you can't ignore the fact that they've actually just refunded you. That's not bad at all.

@Freewallet thanks for your efforts, but next time, perhaps work on a procedure to make this faster. Smiley

@pablo, you may lock the thread now since everything is sorted out now.

One month ago I wrote this post hoping that somebody in the freewallet team would care but... I was wrong. The Freewallet support is very very dissapointing... I've been writing mails, twits, and more things to them and they just say "keep waiting" meanwhile my 4k wabis belong to them.

I really want my money back, Im not a millionaire and that is a huge ammount. I trust them to keep my tokens safe, and they pay me back keeping my money away from me...

I really hope they solve this before I die...

Lol.

Freewallet has responded. Nothing more you can do. They gave out a promise and they're failing to achieve it at least at this point in time. I understand that there may be some manual handling of the payments going on here instead of the usual automation, but it shouldn't take this long even in the worst case scenario.

Instead of emailing freewallet, perhaps just PM the person on the forum.

They do seem a bit more responsive on forum. Whether or not they'll actually do what they say.

I waited for my tokens for 2 months. And to tell the truth, there was already despair.

But in the end, the guys from Freewallet transferred the tokens to my wallet. In this case, the transaction pool in the blockchain NEM for this address was very full.

This is ultimately a manual job of transferring funds and it takes time, and Freewallet has fulfilled its obligations. It is very important!

Now the tools for working with the block are only being formed and no one is immune to errors.

Believe and hope - and everything will be done!
Good luck everyone.

This is true, but I still don't think that 3 weeks is an acceptable amount of time to be waiting for just one case.

In future, perhaps come up with something to increase your efficiency when it comes to these missent tokens cases. It's not rare at all for someone to send tokens to an address that they were not supposed to.

Otherwise you'll have to go through this every single time.

Predetermine the amount of money someone will have to pay as well as the max amount of time someone has to wait, for recovery of tokens. That way, everything is clear and there is a clear procedure.
Thank you again magneto for your support. I sent an email yestarday to them and they again told me to wait... I have been waiting for 2 months... I think that I have been more than reasonable.

Ill keep you informed.

How is possible if wabi tokens are  supported freewallet  you don't give these user his tokens? Freewallet admin you must review the pablogar case.

Again, if a transaction of tokens was made to a user's address BEFORE the support of such tokens got enabled, they need to be manually posted to that user's account once the support in on. It takes time and human resources, too.

Wow, that is terrible. But since they've already promised you that they would look into your case and refund the Wabi tokens that you deposited, it should just be a simple waiting game now. Give it some more time.

If after a couple of weeks, they still haven't progressed a single bit, then make a scam accusation on the forum, or even on reddit, because they've promised to resolve this issue and the least they can do is to update you on the current status of your ticket.

For now, keep waiting and checking your freewallet account daily.
Thank you magneto. Yes, they told me that they are going to solve my problem so I am going to trust them and wait... Theres is nothing else I can do. I will keep sending them emails every week so they dont forget about my case and hope that they can solve my problem as soon as possible.

As hard as it may be for you to believe, there's no magic switch or button that can be clicked to make tokens instantly appear in someone's wallet. Tokens as well as other assets aren't stored on hot addresses, but in the cold storage. And adding support for this or that token takes both time and our programmers' resources.

I know that it takes time and resources to do that and I really apreccieate the effort. At first I waited and just sended you mails, but I think 2 months are a really good quantity of time to, at least, give me a estimated time for the resolution of my problem, thats why I posted my problem over here.

I want to thank everybody, I really apreciate your support. I'll keep you informed, this week there are no news again, Ive sent them an email yesterday but they told me to wait a couple of weeks more...

I sent my tokens NEM(XEM) from the address Bittrex to the address Freewallet in December 3, 2017. And I have not received them yet. The support service only writes one thing - wait!
Since then, in my multicurrency wallet, the address NEM(XEM) has changed. And my tokens hold on the common wallet Freewallet team.
This can be seen in the blockchain NEM(XEM).
How do you think I'll return my tokens NEM(XEM)Huh

Ive never thought that my first ICO would be like this.

One month ago I registered myself in the WaBi ICO. I looked for an android wallet and, in a really bad election, I chose freewallet. I put the freewallet ETH address in the WaBi token sale and I sent the ETH. When the tokens were given, the problem began. Freewallet.org, didnt support WaBi, "it isnt their fault" I thought and sent them an email, they answered me telling me to wait, so I waited...

Finally WaBi tokens were added to their App but... my tokens didnt show up... my funds were 0!!! WTF?!?! Then, I sent an email again but I got no answer, I sent them some tweets but no answer as well. Finally I wrote my problem in the Play Store and they quickly answered me, telling me to wait... they didnt even ask me what my problem was!!!

I keep telling my problem in the Play Store and they finally listened to me. They tell me to wait some days... but ONE MORE WEEK has gone since that day and they havent answered or solved my issue.

I really need the money now and It looks as they dont care about their customers... I will be reporting all the news from now on here.

pablogarcor, once the support for WABI tokens is added, all new transactions of such tokens will be automatically posted to our users' wallets and available in our Token Wallet app. However, if your transaction was made BEFORE the support of such tokens is enabled, we will need to manually rout it to your account. It takes time and human resources as well.

If you've already submitted your transaction details to our support team, your case is in progress. Please provide your user id or a ticket number for us to follow up on the status of it. Looking forward to your reply!

Oh right. I was mistaken then, but my point still stands. They'll basically have to manually credit your Wabi tokens to your wallet instead of the process being automatic, since you did it before Wabi support was added.

The process should be simpler then, they wouldn't need to access funds from another address and have to change your deposit addresses. They just need to confirm that you have indeed sent wabi to the address, and all of this is publicly verifiable.

BTW, since it's already been 2 days, have you received your wabi yet? Please post any updates.

I was giving a little bit of time to the freewallet team to contact me but I have received no answer since they reply to my post. I have checked my PMs here, my email inbox and my freewallet app and they send me no answer.

I cant  send a PM to freewallet user in the forum because I have the newbie range and he has disabled that newbies users can send him message. So Im in the same point as when I wrote this post.

Thank you very much for your support magneto and everybody else. I am sending more mails to them and Ill keep you updated with any news.

I'm not too sure why newbies aren't able to send messages to him, since afaik there is no option of disabling PMs from newbies alone(or maybe I'm wrong, i just never saw an option like that). Anyways, I have PM'd him for you and asked him to follow up with any action he takes.

Hopefully, that will be soon.

Since then, in my multicurrency wallet, the address NEM(XEM) has changed. And my tokens hold on the common wallet Freewallet team.
This can be seen in the blockchain NEM(XEM).
How do you think I'll return my tokens NEM(XEM)Huh

PM freewallet on forum, if they are not responding to tickets. Also, did you include your NEM txid in your support ticket? Otherwise, they'll have no way of confirming that you did send funds to the address.

Nice to see this getting sorted...

You sent wabi tokens to freewallet's ethereum address before wabi was even supported. After wabi was added, you didn't see the wabi tokens reflect in your balance. This led to you creating this thread, thinking that freewallet has scammed you.

The fact is that since their ether wallet address is different to their wabi wallet address, and two are technically separate wallets in their interface, tokens sent to the ethereum wallet will not reflect in the wabi wallet.

Hopefully freewallet will fulfill their promises of resolving this issue, and not drag this on for too long. Cheesy

You are right in everything but one thing. The address is the same to receive eth and wabi tokens. After they added Wabi to the platfform I sent wabi tokens to the wallet again, to replicate the tx of the lost tokens, and the WaBi tokens were correctly added and displayed in my funds.

I made mistakes, thats true, but sending tokens to the wrong address is not one of them. I hope that they find my problem easy to solve because of that.

Thank you everybody to answer to my post and for the advices, I really appreciate it Smiley

pablogarcor, once the support for WABI tokens is added, all new transactions of such tokens will be automatically posted to our users' wallets and available in our Token Wallet app.

Thank you for your answer.

Good to read up that theres already response regarding into this matter which is hopefully op did able to read this up. Just as been asked better to report those thing to their support. I was supposed to say that Wabi is indeed a erc20 token which freewallet didn't make some those updates for it to be seen or credited if it done before on such announcement which would really need to be added manually. Hope this issue would resolve soon.

You simply use MEW to receive the token then everything will be fine. I never searched other wallets to receive tokens, because I think MEW is the best. I think the problem is in yourself, so it's better to be used as a wisdom for the future, so as not to repeat the same mistake. Take care.

This is your own fault. You do not hold the private keys to the addresses and the Wabi addresses are probably different to their Ethereum addresses. They are not the same as far as i know, meaning that whatever is in one address does not translate to the other. Why did you even send Wabi tokens to ETH addresses when clearly they have got no plans of supporting wabi back then?

What you'll have to get them to do is basically import their keys into a wabi compatible wallet, which i doubt they're going to be willing to do.

What you did was basically the same as sending eos tokens to an ETH address on freewallet. Of course you wouldn't get your funds.

Now, you can just sit back and wait. It's about as much as you can do.

Yep, Its my fault to trust in a wallet like Freewallet.org, but you are wrong. Wabi tokens are ERC20 tokens built on Ethereum blockchain so you must store them in a ETH address.

Yes, i made a mistake thinking that I have access to the private key, even no backup is supported by them.

And yes again, I made a mistake thinking that they supported Wabi. Thats why Ive waited for one month until they finally add the token. I didnt blame them for not adding Wabi in one month, Im blaming them because theyve already add the token, the tx is in the wallet and transferred to their cold storage and my funds are still missing. Im blaming them because they dont answer my emails, and when they do, they dont care what my problem is, they just say "keep waiting".

I know that im screwed, but I hope that they finally can solve the problem and of course Ill write it here, maybe itll help someone in my situation.

It's not a problem of trust, really. It's a problem of you sending wabi erc20 tokens to their ETH address when they've clearly not have supported it yet. Yes, Wabi tokens are stored on the ethereum blockchain. But if they don't support it, then you're screwed.

I think you misunderstood the fact that you had full access to your address on freewallet, and thus led to this error.

Even though this is your own fault, i agree. They should be at least responding to your emails, even if they want to give you a negative response. Don't expect too much, though. If they can't even respond to your support message in a timely manner, why would they even bother doing all this for you?

The only option is to continue to contact them until they assist you with your problem. There are several threads posted here before and an affiliate (not sure if that's the owner) is answering the queries, you could send a private message to Freewallet account and see if you could get help.

I've always seen this wallet when searching for erc20 token wallet but i ignore it because mostly they are recommend to use is mew wallet which is very safe and until now not having any issue yet..
Do you have any private key backup or seed phrase? if ever you wanted to recover it you can recover your wallet in mew or imtoken..
Freewallet doesn't provide the private keys for individual wallets so users have no control over it, that's why it is not much of a good choice imo.
Thank you very much jhenfelipe. I am sending him a PM, lets see if he can help me.

Yes, as long as you can keep the private key you are safe, because if a company holds your key, you will be at that company mercy.

Freewallet.org doesn't support all the ERC20 tokes like MEW do,so if you gave freewallet.org address to receive tokens from ICO then you will lose all the tokens if that wallet not support your token at the time of tokens sending time by ICO team.Once I am alos missed my tokens from bounty campaigns then I asked the support team they answered that they can't do anything in that case.
And many users also reviewing that freewallet.org is a scam they are taking all the funds which are stored in their wallet. So it is better to avoid these kind of wallets in future and try to use MEW for receiving tokens which is the best ever wallet for ethereum and tokens.

Yes, you are right. They keep telling me to wait... but I dont know what to think about it, I think they dont even know what my problem is...

I hope that they finally give me my tokens and yes, Ill avoid all this wallets from now on.

Hi,

I´ve got a similar problem with Freewallet, they just say you should wait more and more weeks

It´s not your fault to trust in them, they say:

"Please note that we’re still working on the feature that will allow participating in new ICOs. If you’ve participated in an ICO, and your token is an ERC20 one, please contact us once it’s present on exchanges: we will add it as well."

As I can understand that once the token is added to the app, I can see my balance, but this is a lie...

I hope you hope and they come back you your tokens soon
