Now he has a lot of time to think of a whole lot more to write... and maybe write it, too.

~snip~

Of course it is wrong. Each of us has the right to free speech, but do not forget that every word can be used against us. For example, I try not even to discuss the religions of other nations because I'm afraid to offend them, but there are people who are ready to walk on their heads for their beliefs and religion.

Despite many such cases of exactly this, and even worse in the west, for some reason people dismiss the importance of our constitutional freedoms by supporting the left..

But it is not a valid reason to put a man in jail, just because he spreads some truths and awareness about Judaism. Writing about the truth is nowhere a justified reason to enjail a man, unless he is bias, and just give hate in his writings. But given his credentials, I doubt that it is the latter one.

So what if he was “bias” or “give hate”? And according to who?
Still should not be put in jail or censored by the government..

“Bias” speech and “hate speech” should be the MOST protected speech.. Not the other way around..

Not sure on the exact case being talked about here, though I think most people have to know that Freedom of Speech is really just US thing in the world. Other countries may have this freedom codified into law, but none of it is apart of their constitution which can't be taken away. The below picture from the Economist doesn't really HELP that much b/c it's just showing the eroding changes in freedom of expression, though it is still interesting to see what the last 10 years or so have seen in regards to attacks on a fundamental human freedom:

I think journalists have their own freedom of speech and it's ridiculous that slander of Judaism is banned in France while Christianity is legal.
Perhaps Western countries are trying to build good relations with
Israel and this guy have made the French efforts to this relationship worse. Like a pawn, going the wrong way needs to be eliminated. This will be an experience for journalists to practice more wisely.

Unity comes only when it is the election time and apart from this no one is allowed to express opinions against the majority and its common all over the world.People are slaves and politicians are Gods! Sad but that's the truth.

Are there English translations of his books?

The jewish mafia (in french : "la mafia juive").

I don't know if it was Voltaire who said "To know who have power over you, look at who you can't speak against" something like that.

I cannot confirm Voltaire really said that  but I can say that quoting this sentence is considered as "antisemitic" in France.

https://www.silviacattori.net/spip.php?article5303

I translate :

Jean Bricmont (a belgian scientist) : There is this sentence from Voltaire more and more people repeat and if I was you, I would be careful about that "To know who have power over you, look at who you can't speak against".
(silence)... no comment !

Jean-François Kahn (a jewish lobbyist) : This is just an antisemitic sentence !

Rihan-Cypel : Yes !

Jean Bricmont : How could it be antisemitic ?

Jean-François Kahn : Well, you know why ... (laughing) ... do you want me to draw it ... ha ha ha.

This is really disheartening to say the least that people get to be jailed because they express a different opinion to what government wants. Truth is bitter, we know. And those whose faults or heinous crimes are exposed aren't going to take it easy lying low, we know. However, that shouldn't be a reason anyone could be victimized, except the writer spreads falsehood. It's even disappointing that such sacrilege on human rights is committed under the watch of a young president like Emmanuel Macron who is supposed to be a patriot of democracy to the core.

Are there English translations of his books? If it's controversial enough to land him in jail, then it might be a worthwhile read. I don't know if it was Voltaire who said "To know who have power over you, look at who you can't speak against" something like that.

in england a few years ago. insulting many countries ok but isreal was a poke the bear topic.

politicians were dismissed if they even joked about it.

the reason is not racism in general. but UK/euro are now highly tied to isreal. and want to be best isreali friends. so suddenly its felt like a mega hitsquad taskforce has been set out to stop any negative talks about isreal

i found it a bit weird initially when i seen politicians get dismissed over petty jokes. but then when looking at the purse strings of how much isreal promises to give uk/europe. you start to see why

This is what I don't exactly understand. Israel isn't exactly a big economy. At best it would be a regional power like Singapore. So, is this more the people in the Israeli gov't's influence on the Jewish diaspora, which are ummm, heavily into banking and media?

The Judaists are a very united and faithful people. The first thing children in communities learn is religion. All life Judaists read mainly religious literature, so I am not so surprised that they defend their world views and faith so fiercely.

But it is not a valid reason to put a man in jail, just because he spreads some truths and awareness about Judaism. Writing about the truth is nowhere a justified reason to enjail a man, unless he is bias, and just give hate in his writings. But given his credentials, I doubt that it is the latter one.

I don't understand french, so I can clearly verify the content of his writings, but for now, I would say that it is not right to jail him just for that.

The world has to know that freedom of speech does not exist in France.

The french writer Hervé Ryssen has been sent to jail in September 18, 2020.

He wrote books against "Israël" and against judaism.

In France, when you write against islam or christianity this is freedom, when you write against judaism this is an offense.
