Really you are blessed with to had a friend like this.Because some friends will not gift you, even when you gift him. They will not gift back to you.As compared to that, you was blessed. We had some friends, who look all with the money. They will calculate your gift into the money which you need to give him some money, even I had one friend like that.He is very bad on coming to the money.

It makes me happy when a person is happy, either in any way, with Bitcoin or with blessings for his family, and the fact that each of his friends have given him that birthday present is something that speaks highly of you. and that is something that should also be taken into account, the fact that your friends have chosen to give you BTC is because for them as for you it is very important, and here it does not matter that they are not 100usd, those 93usd if you leave them for a good time they will multiply you and believe me that is what will happen, have no doubt about it.

This is a lovely story. I'm happy the op was congratulated by friends and gave BTC as a present. I've received BTC as a gift for my birthday as well because Bitcoin is pretty used in my family, and it's common to gift money in it. As far as money gifts go, Bitcoin is a good choice. But sometimes what matters is not money but something else, something personal. Then there are also times when nothing matters because there are bigger things. Tomorrow's my birthday, but this year, I don't want presents at all; I just want my country to win the war as soon as possible (I'm from Ukraine).

It is one type of Success of Bitcoin that people are using it as different way. Bitcoin is made to provide online secure payments and if people are using BTC as a gifs which mean many people know about BTC and they use BTC. And they use bitcoin as a payment asset.

First of all happy birthday and congratulations to you. I am not as lucky as you who receive a Bitcoin gift from someone or have not thought about giving a Bitcoin gift to my friend. As a form of gratitude from those who you have taught for 15 days of course it is indeed worth getting. getting a gift in the form of Bitcoin will certainly be profitable if you can manage it well, little by little it will also be profitable over time. Moreover, this is a gift given sincerely by your friend, of course it must be stored and managed properly. even though the price is currently going down but it will still be profitable and just need to wait for the time until the price goes up again.

I wanted to extend my greetings too to OP and I would like him to know that he should be thankful for what his friend have had given to him as a birthday gift because to day receiving bitcoin as a gift is a treasure. I just do hope OP know how to handle this finance and knowledgeable enough about the crypto market. But so far, I do really wish I am as lucky as him, but this kind of instances is very rare so let's make our own wealth.

Today was my birthday. I just came home 3 hours ago. It was really late at night, but a party was organised for me. By the way, thanks to my friends who gave me this special birthday. But I was most surprised when I saw they gave me a birthday card and asked me to open it. When I opened it, I saw an email and password were written. And the account was a Kucoin account. Then I logged in and I saw there was $93 worth of bitcoin. And when I asked them about it, they said "this is a gist from five people. Four give 20 each and one gives $15, but because of the price volatility, it becomes $93. Though I didn't ask about the amount, I asked them what they did. Because I have been helping them learn about bitcoin for the last 15 days, and they have already made their first investment with me. This feeling is really something special for me. Literally, this is something special. And this birthday will be really memorable for me. My life's first bitcoin gift was on my birthday.

Do you guys have any memories of something like this? If you want, you can share that, and if you also give them any surprise, please share that too, so that I can get a better idea of what to give them.

To date I have received many gifts from friends but have never received such a different kind of gift.Your friends are very intelligent and up-to-date in nature. Bitcoin paid you on your birthday but you are very lucky. To receive such a gift of a different nature.Thank you so much to your friends. Many good wishes from me to your friend.

Kinda late but happy birthday!
The gift was a double surprise in my opinion.
First, you got to have a blessing by receiving additional fractions of Btc. And second, I guess they have learned and applied what you have taught about Bitcoin in the last 15 days.
However, the next thing you should teach them is to avoid storing Bitcoin in a centralised or custodial wallets, they could've used Electrum for the gift if you taught them anyway.
I remember reading before a thread or comment somewhere having a gift of trezor or hardware wallet with some altcoins in it. Maybe teaching more ways to store their bitcoin or altcoins can also help them if their into holding. BTW, Congrats and it’s nice to see group of friends who learn and study together how they will develop or lift themselves thru cryptocurrencies. Only few is able to find friends that will be on your same side when it comes in risking investments or in any money related topics.
How i wish i do have these kind of friends which do share up on the same idea and venture which is similar to you which is really that very interesting and on the times like this then you could really

simply able to appreciate on what they have done.Of course giving off some hardware wallet would be still costly considering on the amount that they had given which is on an exchange platform
which isnt really a bad idea but it would be good if its stored on a non custodial wallet but since keys would be known by someone thats why they do ending up on giving
an exchange account instead.

Miss out birthday, however, we can't wish you Bitcoin but just wishes with merit (lol). Yea this is a memorable moment for you since the gift was in Bitcoin. And I feel happy to hear that you help them learn about Bitcoin. You are adopting Bitcoin and as a return, you got the gift in Bitcoin as well. Unluckily nothing happens like this. Most of my friends not familiar with Bitcoin could wish me. A lot of prevention here to learn and teach about Bitcoin. Anyway, best wishes to you.

That’s new! Now, people have started giving bitcoin as gifts, which shows how advanced we have become as a society. You should keep your gift in a cold storage wallet where it will impossible for hackers to hack and steal it.

being a gift maybe he should use bitcoin to buy something from the real world, because i think OP must have some bitcoin that he is doing Hodl and then the one he got as a gift he could use to spend in the real world for friends to see the importance of using bitcoin as a payment method in the real world as. many people focus only on holding and day trading but don't use bitcoin as a means of payment in the real world, we need to change that

you are lucky to have known bitcoin at your early age.

OP is still too young Cheesy

Happy birthday mate, congratulations for your bitcoin gift. I will confess that you have a very good circle of friends. It is because you have introduced your friends in crypto that is why they have to appreciate you in such a manner by buying you bitcoin.

People are complaining about his friends using a custodial wallet as kucoin for the gift. I do not see a problem with that. It was a gift and they used what they understood at that time for the gift. OP can decide to transfer the bitcoin to his non custodial wallet. It will not cost him much.

Congratulations to you, you are lucky to have known bitcoin at your early age.

Although it is late, congratulations to you for the gift and hopefully, you can use it for your own benefit and make a profit. I do not have an experience like you because almost half of my friends do not know bitcoin and do not want to learn bitcoin for now. But I have already given some satoshi to some friends as an introduction and hopefully, they are interested in knowing more about bitcoin.

Happy birthday Mate. Sounds like you had an awesome party.

So far I haven't received any crypto currencies for my birthday from friends or family. Within my family I am the only one who owns cryptos. My parents are too old to invest money in cryptos, they are already struggling to control their cell phones. My uncle and my cousin are both very interested in cryptos but don't have a lot of money to invest in. I am thinking about giving my cousin a wallet for his birthday this year with some Bitcoins and ETH coins. From my friends I have some who invested in cryptos but are just HODL investors and not a lot of money invested.

Congrats on the free bitcoin and happy birthday, that’s really awesome of your friends to do that for you! I’ve taught a lot of people about bitcoin over the years but I don’t think any of them have paid me any gifts back in bitcoin, though I’ve certainly gotten gifts in crypto collectibles from buddies before, just for having awesome friends Smiley

Happy birthday again. 21 is a big day, I spent mine drinking heavily and puking lol

I'm greeting you a belated happy birthday! May you have many more birthdays to come and Bitcoins to own!

I was surprised that you are teaching your friends to learn more about Bitcoin and yet your first Bitcoin came from them. That's a little funny story. But isn't it great to have friends like that? They're so thoughtful.

But having Bitcoin in an account created by someone else and whose password is also known by other people, it is best that you withdraw them to a wallet under your exclusive control. I think you also need to share this very important reminder to your friends.

Happy Birthday mate , While i want you to enjoy your birthday party and  of course the gift that symbolize your being a crypto user coz even your circle of friends are bitcoin users.

Now what i want you to do as it is not that safe to keep funds in centralized exchange , why not transfer that funds in your decentralized wallet so you will keep your funds safe if willing to keep long term holding.

Again congrats for receiving Bitcoin as gift because I have never received something like that till now.

It would have been so good if you keep the amount in your wallet outside the exchanges a separate wallet where you are able to freely move it whenever you want. I think to make it more memorable, just keep it and let it be there for the next 10 to 20 years so it will create some good history in your crypto journey. Kudos to your friends for giving you not just some gifts but a memory that you will never forget.

It’s sure,I am also going to wish you,Happy birthday O.P.If you get bitcoin as a birthday gift,it will be best gift for you.Because the bitcoin gift will not same after few years.Increase and increase to huge value. If you had a habit of holding your birthday gifts for longer as memories,it was sure you will get happy twice then now. When you get bitcoin as a gift.

The amount is not that big but it is the thought that matters here. They appreciate his assistance to them and in return, he got his reward in the form of bitcoin also. So long you are making a difference with your life, you will be happy and satisfied. Rewards such as money is just a bonus. What matters most, is you help somebody to the best of your ability.

Thank you so much to everyone who has sent me a message and shared their stories with me.This really feels great to me. Though some of you share that you still haven't gotten gifts in bitcoin yet. But I hope you will get it soon. And one person I saw say that he gifted 0.01 bitcoin to his girlfriend. It's really appreciated.

Happy birthday and best wishes to you.

When I opened it, I saw an email and password were written. And the account was a Kucoin account.
I'd like to criticize this a little. Why use a centralized exchange account to give away bitcoin? It is so much better to give away paper wallets containing a private key that has bitcoin in it.

And I saw some of you were complaining about why they gave me a Kucoin account. What am I teaching them? Actually, I already mentioned that they started it about one week ago. So they just learned the basics. And because of the ban on bitcoin in our country, they bought it on p2p. And I am surprised that they can buy bitcoin. That was more surprising to me. And I hope you guys say something about paper wallets. I hope that in the future, I will gift them or they will gift me. I will teach about it, but not now because they are in basic lessons still.

And again, thanks to everyone.

Belated happy b-day pal!
Receiving a bitcoin on my birthday isnt still happening but i dont really expect that much  since not all people around me does know that im dealing with crypto even with my closest friend or even
my family members but i do somehow picture out the thing on where you do get surprised by your friends even though its not that a big amount but still much appreciated.
Bitcoin or crypto could really fit out on being given as a gift but of course it does really need for someone to have at least some idea or knowledge of it so that it would be
appreciated by someone.

Happy Birthday, mate Smiley. It's really good that your friend gave you bitcoin as a Birthday gift, It is really very impressive. But I don't know why people don't use non-custodial wallets when they gift crypto to other people. I've seen some other posts like this and every time they used an exchange or custodial wallets. we should have to practice using noncustodial wallets or hardware wallets, exchanges accounts are not safe at all. they can ask your KYC anytime and there is a high chance to lose the gifted amount.

Happy birthday and wish you many more years with good health and more bitcoin in your wallet. Your friends are really great, you should be very proud to have friends that are caring like. I believe you will definitely want to hold the coin and you won't sell it because is a gift from friends, the best thing you should do now is that you should transfer the coin from your kucoin account to your non custodial wallet address and try to hold it.

Just read pooya87's comment and it warms my heart like no other. I can happily share that I've had the pleasure of sending people their first coins as well, some paper (including two kids, one who famously lost it and I remind him quite a bit haha, but sadly) but mostly digital, I like giving them their seed in parts or puzzle they later assemble.

But I never forget my actual first one was a gift. 100 bits (that was how it was sent) gifted with the only condition I open my own (self-custodial) wallet. I knew there was testnet and I did that too but nothing comes close to spending the real thing for the first time.

I've since hoped to always pass that good gesture onwards.

Happy birthday OP. And what you're going through, I felt a few years ago because I had some friends involved with bitcoin, and at that time some of my friends and I gave each other the same amount of bitcoin on birthdays.
Very happy on birthdays to get bitcoin gifts, and even more fun when receiving bitcoins when the price goes up because the amount of bitcoin gifts given remains the same and does not see the price go up or down at that time.
and at that time the amount of bitcoins given on birthdays with the same amount was 0.005 Mbtc for a total of 5 people including me, and after all came to their birthdays we didn't continue anymore.

First, happy birthday  Cheesy

When I opened it, I saw an email and password were written. And the account was a Kucoin account. Then I logged in and I saw there was $93 worth of bitcoin.
Next, it seems your friend does not know about risk from KYC, custodial wallet, CEX.

Quote
And when I asked them about it, they said "this is a gist from five people. Four give 20 each and one gives $15, but because of the price volatility, it becomes $93.
If you hodl it a few years, a decade, its value will increase a lot. However, if you are planing to HODL it, let's move it to a non-custodial wallet.

Belated happy birthday mate, I guess you are lucky enough to receive such wonderful gift on your birthday, maybe it was a small amount but still it's a precious gift if it was heartily given, Anyway I have also given some Bitcoin to a friend on her birthday way back in 2016 the Bitcoin amount was 0.05 BTC because during those days Bitcoin is not as expensive as today. but the bad thing is that I and my friend has become a victim of the HashOcean cloud mining scam and all our BTC was gone with the scammers. Again belated happy birthday.

I have never received Bitcoin as a gift, but I have given away cryptos as a Birthday gift in the past. Some months ago I give my girlfriend 0.01btc on her birthday, and I hope that amount becomes some nice money with time.

Giving money as a birthday gift doesn't look good for all, but we can't see this as giving money, this is more like giving an asset or an investment.

First of all, happy birthday to you. Wish you all the best and success always accompany you.

I have also never received a birthday gift in bitcoin, I also have a lot of friends in the market but no one seems to come up with this great idea. This is really a meaningful and precious gift because we are crypto lovers.

Maybe I'll have to tell my friends about this idea, we're going to change the way we give birthday gifts this year to make it more fun and rewarding.

Although people talk a lot that cryptocurrency as a gift is a nice gift, such talks rarely goes from just to talk to action. I have a bunch of crypto enthusiast friends, with who I have discussed Bitcoin as a present topic. Everyone accepted, that it will be nice to receive such, and "they would consider" making such a gift. But no body ever made such gift. Instead everyone prefer to give cognac or whiskey bottle and a gift card or cash.

This is a wonderful and touching story. Giving bitcoin as a gift is starting to trend more and more.

Because I have been helping them learn about bitcoin for the last 15 days, and they have already made their first investment with me.
I perfectly understand their desire to thank you for this. You have given them so much more by sharing information about bitcoin than they or you yourself can imagine.

Do you guys have any memories of something like this? If you want, you can share that, and if you also give them any surprise, please share that too, so that I can get a better idea of what to give them.
Tell them about this forum so they can learn more about BTC and go deeper into the intricacies of crypto. As the post below shows, they still have a lot to learn.

When I opened it, I saw an email and password were written. And the account was a Kucoin account.
I'd like to criticize this a little. Why use a centralized exchange account to give away bitcoin? It is so much better to give away paper wallets containing a private key that has bitcoin in it.
Don't be so hard on them. Judging by the OP words, they became interested in bitcoin topic in detail only 2 weeks ago. Imran232's friends should have looked at bitcointalk to fill in the gaps in knowledge.

And congratulations Imran232 on your past birthday.

Setting aside the use of exchange wallet, the act was actually pretty cool. I'm curious how do you plan to use it now? Would you transfer it to you main Kucoin account or create a new one (if you don't have it yet)? Personally, I would transfer it to a non-custodial wallet and hodl like a memento. Never mind the amount and the 0.0005 BTC withdrawal fee.

Maybe we are not as lucky here as you on birthday, when you celebrate, you have good friends and care when you get older.

Maybe I should say, my friends are also good people and care for each other where, every time our friends get older we always give them gifts, but not in Bitcoin.

I saw what happened to you on your birthday, maybe we are also motivated where in the future when birthday friend has to give Bitcoin as your friend did, great idea to do, maybe we can judge here, it's not the value of Bitcoin that is given, but togetherness, that's important.

Congratulations on your new age.

Although it is a little late, it is better to be late than never! Happy birthday to you, my good friend! If someone has given you a bitcoin, whether it be from an exchange or directly out of your wallet, I am grateful; however, I understand that some of the comments here will suggest that he should have sent you some of it directly into your wallet rather than giving you an email and password from an exchange; however, this is still a very nice gift. You stated that you have only learned bitcoin in the last 15 days, which is a good start, and in order to grasp the bitcoin from that exchange to your hardware wallet, you will need to understand and learn it over time, which you will do over time.

Happy Birthday. This seems like a great gift.I wish that more people would give me money at my birthday(not just useless gifts). Grin
I really hope that Kucoin won't block your account for logging in via a different IP address.
I guess that teaching other people about the benefits of Bitcoin(and cryptocurrencies in general) pays off at the end.I just don't have the motivation to go outside and teach other people about Bitcoin.I'm very introverted and I'm really careful, when it comes to talking about Bitcoin/crypto.You never know what might happen,if some evil people find out, that you own and trade Bitcoins.
People like you are the reason why the "Bitcoin army" keeps growing.

Happy birthday mate! Congratulations on receiving such adorable gift for yourself. I have seen few other threads where fellow forum members also asked whether they should be gifting their friends, spouse and family members the popular bitcoin! Most of us obviously love the idea of gifting bitcoin because it is the future, and it’s unique way to express our best wishes.

I am loving the thoughts of your friends. Just wish that everyone would keep doing this until it becomes the trend of modern gifting.  Smiley

And yes as everyone mentioned it’s on centralised exchange, you should move it to the wallet and have your complete ownership of the coins.

Good luck.

Happy birthday to you, and may the best come to you forever, and you are given long life and health.

If it's a KuCoin account, I hope you can KYC soon even though KuCoin doesn't require strict KYC, but just in case, moreover, the account wasn't you who created it. Or you can move the balance to an exchange that you have used before and have been KYC.

I have never received a gift in the form of BTC, but I am the one who gave my friend or relative a gift in the form of BTC. But that's okay. At least I helped them to know something about BTC.

Never received Bitcoin as a gift from someone. I'm not sure anyone would even think of it. Usually, its money for gifts, and then I do what I want with it. I've probably bought Bitcoin with gifted money before though, so there's that.

I guess that the next step of your "lessons" must be about having own wallets, about "not your keys, not your coins". Wink
Probably not the best time to educate them after they've just given you a gift though Cheesy. The intention was at least good, but the execute needs a little work.

But ensure you practicalize the first rule of a Bitcoiner, hold down for life, and not your keys not your wallet.
I've never heard of this rule? Obviously, not your keys, not your wallet is a common saying. Though, holding down for life is debatable. I get it, Bitcoin is valuable, and I do tend to see myself holding it rather than spending it. Though, Bitcoin absolutely can, and probably should be used for trading things, that's what makes it a proper currency, rather than a reserve currency.

Happy Birthday!

And the account was a Kucoin account. Then I logged in and I saw there was $93 worth of bitcoin. And when I asked them about it, they said "this is a gist from five people.

I agree here with the previous post: if they chose to give you an account at a centralized exchange, it means you didn't teach them good enough.
I guess that the next step of your "lessons" must be about having own wallets, about "not your keys, not your coins". Wink

Do you guys have any memories of something like this?

The closest to this is the contest I've won here on Bitcointak off which I've received a Christmas present in Bitcoin, but the requirement was to buy something off it.
I've bought a monitor back then and I'm still using it (from the winter of 2017/2018), reminding me about the one who made me the present, about bitcoitalk and about the fact the Bitcoin is not only for HODLing.

I've always been the gift giver than the receiver when it comes to bitcoin Roll Eyes.
This year I decided to use the new year (8 days ago) or Noruz to give away some new year themed gifts in form of paper wallets each with one of the 7 symbols found in Haft-seen. It was both fun and educational to combine the 5-7 thousand year old traditions with 13 year old bitcoin. I have some plans for Sizdah_Be-dar (13th day of new year) for a party to combine 13-year old bitcoin with the 13th day. But I'll see what happens. Grin
