The issue of fuel price in Nigeria is something I don't know what to say about in short am really confused about it.
As for now the price of fuel as increased from 617 to 1,100 from 1,200 per liter I don't know where this country is going oo. Cause of living now for naija as increased people are finding it difficult to survive the poverty and hunger strike. I Wonder why Nigeria that has crude oil are now suffering for scarcity of fuel. It is a serious matter to look into.
My prayer for Nigeria is that God will help them to survive the hardship in town now.

@Igebotz and @Charles-Tim, there is context to both of una arguments and as una carry spill am out like this bring better understanding on the views of each user. I see reason shah via say,

Removal and hike in this manner na different things but then, e happen say, the hike stern from the subsidy removal. Still, no be only pms them remove subsidy for too, even electricity bill now don come up and that na still effect from the subsidy.

If we really been wan Dey discuss all the effect from subsidy for one thread, e go Dey too bulky but then, no be bad idea say, here suppose get some kind decorum and na men like us way lobby this we hangout go try make an work.
On that note, I still dey appreciate people way dey put eye here make things for dey go well and advice others to try seek closely existing threads to avoid word way no go sweet for belle.

Things dey happen for Naija wey I no understand, this one wey government wan finish us with inflation, I hope say him don prepare something for abi. Just now now I read it from daily trust wey costumer dey confirm am say him buy one litre of petrol for ₦617.

The moment fuel subsidy was removed, it was expected that the price of a liter of fuel should be heading to 1k per liter so I wasn't surprised to see this coming into manifestation. You know say anything wey rise for Nigeria no dey come down. Nobi dollars dey trade above #800 so. This country na just frustration be the government job, e just belike any government wey enter office na to bring frustration from where the pass government stop. I dun talk my own if tinubu no get better plans for this subsidy wey him remove so make him bring am back make we dey managed am like that even though we dey feed Cameroon and other neighboring countries abi we no be giant of Africa again?

I been dey expect say I go see some news on wetin be dey plan so after them commot the fuel subsidy but wetin I see na palliative of 8k per household. Belike tinubu no ready to rule Nigeria self because which cam joke be dat. Wetin 8k go do person in this country wey we dey so as everything dun cost like say we kill person for the country. The president has done nothin to address the issue of fuel prices rising since he took over office and at this rate e dun dey clear say Tinubu no sabi wetin him dey do and I wish he can prove me wrong because I been dey expect the country to better small because of him government.

Watin go be way forward for us wey no go benefits from minimum wage?

I was not shocked after seeing this hike in fuel price. After the fuel subsidy removal it was clear that the marketers will be the ones to be regulating the prices of fuel henceforth. The price might go up at anytime and can still go down, so further hike in price shouldn’t still be a surprise to Nigerians.

The recent hike in price could be as a cause of the increase in Naira to Dollar rate in the parallel market. Nigerians still take crude oil out of the country to refine and still import back, so since Naira is depreciating against Dollar, the PMS price have to adjust to suit in that price.

Fuel subsidy is the reason for PMS price hike so I don't understand why they can't be in the same thread ; if everyone opens a thread when a price goes up or down in different locations what do you think would happen?

I don't think I was harsh in my approach
Fuel was below ₦198 to ₦250 before, after the subsidy was removed, it jumped to ₦530.

I know all of this is true; the link I provided is about the removal of subsidy, and any adjustment in the price of PMS should have been placed there to stop everyone starting similar posts. Everything PMS-related should be posted in one big thread.

As long as the Naira are floating against the dollar the price of PMS will keep flautuating because we still rely on imported products.

But according to the recent news:

The pump price of Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol, was raised from N537/litre to N617/litre at some filling stations operated by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited in Abuja on Tuesday.

Recall that President Bola Tinubu had during his inaugural address on May 29, announced that subsidy on petrol had ended, a development that led to the jump in the price of the commodity from N198/litre to over N500/litre on May 30, 2023.

Since the withdrawal of subsidy on petrol and the floating of the naira against the dollar, marketers had continued to explain that the cost of PMS could rise to as high as N700/litre.

Similarly, the rise in the cost of crude oil in the international market has also triggered further hike in petrol price, as crude is the product from which PMS and other refined petroleum products are produced from.

On this forum, it belongs to politics and society. Which is one if the boards many people would have been expecting for us to have.

I know you are trying to make our local board clean, but sometimes your approach may be harsh which supposed not to be like that. But if I should say what is in my mind, you are trying, and we prefer approaches that would bring quality discussions on our local board.

The thing is that we need child boards. This topic is not related to fuel subsidy, but PMS price hike currently happening in Abuja (and maybe in other states too). This is what is happening in Nigeria presently after fuel subsidy has been removed some weeks ago.
