Hello! I have activity 125 on bitcointalk, but I am still a member,I was thinking that I suppose to become full Member when I will reach - 120. Was there any changes in rules? Does anyone know? Thanks
The only thing you need is to have enough merits for you to rank up. Thats the new implementation of the forum rules.

I am on my way, even though I need a little bit of merit, I am counting on my site, I am very late to this forum site and I am suffering from it. frankly I think your job is easier for us because you know how it works and if you use English well you will be comfortable at the level you want over time. I want to give those who have the merit to those who need it very selective and they have to find a solution to this system. God help us all.

The merit system is a great idea to control people replying with useless replies. This forum is flooded with what is essentially spam, because the whole rank system encourages people to post aimlessly to rank up.

The reality is nothing has changed for you to post or reply. You can still do it, and are encouraged to if you have something relevant to say. I don't know how to do exact statistics, but my bet is 80% of the posts on here that get replies are from new people. Seasoned (hero-legendary) people post less, although they do reply. You can still get your value out of this forum. It may take you longer to rank up, but when you have, you have actually earned it.

I hope as people realize this is happening that they stop posting as much crap. It is hard to find the signal through the noise on a lot of these posts.

I'd also like to see anyone able to get merit for flagging spammers. It sounds a little militant, but knowing you could be penalized for bad behavior would also help to curtail the spam.

Hi, I'm a newbie, can you tell me how to get merit ??

Q: Well, how to collect Merit points?
A: "You get merit points when someone sends you some for one of your posts. Additionally, when someone sends you merit points, half of those points you get as sMerti (sendable Merit) and they can be sent by you to other people."

Q: OK but c'mon, how to get Merit points on my posts?
A: There is no recipe for collecting merit but here are some guidelines the most important is to try to contribute in some way to the forum. Stay away from breaking the forum rules, learn proper English in order to communicate effectively with the community, be helpful and creative, and the last advice is: don't push it too hard, you just gonn stuck on your current rank. Improving yourself will improve your rank too, I'm sure.

Q: Who is giving these points?
A: There will be certain people called "merit sources" which will give points to quality posts. They are 49 at the moment I wrote the , see Merit Statistics link below. In addition according your rank and the merit points you have received you can also give to posts you like, so we can say that everyone can give Merit.

Q: How many points I have ?
A: Follow the link Check your merit, there you can check your points and there will be listed also the points you have recieved and for which post and the points you have given.

Q: I want to know more about the Merit Points System
A: You have to follow the Merit & new rank requirements link below, it's a long discusion there.

Yes their has been introduction of Merit points for progress to higher ranks in Bit Coin talk. For details please have a look on  https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/merit-new-rank-requirements-2818350 . You require minimum 100 merit + 120  activity to become a Full Member.

Here you go: (I can not display images, hence I give you link to see infographics, only one in my collection).

What you need is 90 more Merit points, which you can only legally get by writing high quality posts and wait other users in the forum send their sMerits to your account as rewards/ bonus for your great thread.
It need more time to rank up than older ranking system which simply based on activities (that in turn totally depends on post-counts). It is very important to rank up legally, instead of buying/ exchanging merits which can result in banning your account or tag it with red flag, negative trust, etc.

In order to be a Full Member rank, you must have 120 activities and 100 merit. It takes so much effort to ranked up now unlike before that you just need to hit 120 activities. Posting quality topic will let you gain merits.

It will actually, only trigger more bitcointalk account sales & more people scammed.

I think you'll get there sooner than later.. I think only 10-20% of users will really make it but in the same boat I'm already thinking of how I can post better to better contribute...which is I'm sure is  the goal intended..think of it as like playing a game for fun vs grinding levels out.. one the time invested doesn't matter since its just a natural progression of something you're already doing.. where as the other will seem like a long drawn out process that will make each day seem like agony... this will weed out people looking to make the desired post count in a couple of hours.

It doesn't work like that though it should! I make quality posts only and i try to be there for each discussion about the technical as well as business functionality but the point is that people have already started begging merits from hero and legendary members. They are the only ones with enough merits to make some change. People who are friends are giving merits to each other so they can all go even higher up! Instead of merits, there should have been a demerits option to give demerits to those who write single questions and who just write when exchange or bash some project unnecessarily without any facts! Reduce activity once a person collects 2 or 3 demerit points and it will do the same job! The merits system is flawed! On a fair assumption of 1 merit point per 10 posts, it would take me 1000 posts just to go over there and that is assuming that i do get 1 merit from every 10 which is not happening till now no matter how better answers i am writing.

The only thing that i suggest to you if you wanted to be full member better to contribute to forum and post an informative/Helpful post if someone wanted by readers or merit sources you can receive an Smerit from them..
For now they added this rules due to lots of users creating more accounts and use for signature campaign or selling those newbie account and updating it every 14 days they can't rankup until full member if they didn't receive merit from their account you should need to post useful post and required almost 100 to become full member..

There is no formula of success in ranking up /well I made an actual calculator about the activity and merit you can see the link in my profile Wink/ but what I can say from my own experience is that you can really rank up despite the new merit system.
What I do is spending some time here every day in reading, reporting spammers, asking and answering questions and basically learning new things every day. In the process of learning sometimes people appreciate my work by leaving merit on posts they think are valuable.
And here I am, stated with 10 points as you now I have 60. Be careful not to be obsessed by the merit and to become your "fixed idea", just don't think about it will come. Be helpful to the community in some way, stay away from spamming and begging.Don't give up and be positive.
That's all.

I would have liked the merit option had the moderators been giving the merits to people. Other forum users just simply won't send merits even if they have it. Sendable merit for a member is just very low to being distributed to quality posts. One can easily see people collaborating with each other and marking each other's posts with merit or they would use their other bitcointalk profiles to upgrade each of their profiles while a person who contributes diligently may not get any merit just because the people in a thread doesn't wish to give thread.

Legendary and hero members will be filled with request to give merit and every answer will start having a "if you like this post, give a credit" kinda ending to beg for merits. In a perfect world, merit distribution based on quality posts by forum members was preferrable but now it is just not gonna work!

No, there isn't any criteria for that.

You get merits from other forum users. Let me give you an example:

Someone creates a new thread and asks a question (i.e. what is Bitcoin?). You answer that question in a way that makes other people think 'That's good answer to the question'.
Those people then have to send merits to you for that post.

So, it depends on other people who think you are creating quality replies/threads.

It may take a while to get 100 merits, but in the end you will get there if you participate seriously in discussions.

It's a bummer for people who were near to becoming full member since no member will shelve out 90 merits within 2 weeks period. Even though people write good quality posts, its still a very new concept with not many people knowing what to do with merit and it actually helps people who have multiple profiles to give merit to each other and turn into a higher ranked member without much difficulty.

With new ranking system for bitcointalk forum's users, a user who are ranking at Member has to collect more 90 Merit scores to be ranked up to next level, Full Member, simultaneously with activites. Therefore, you have to write constructive and high quality posts for receiving from other users, who feel that your threads are valuable, useful, by which I mean they think that your information help solving third issues. For your case, you are only lack of Merit points.
