I dunno it's just a giant sea of mind numbing slush... I'll report them... They certainly are all over the forum. And dedicated all-day posters... Makes me think there may be more going on that is behind the scenes,  some sort of organized manipulation perhaps? They could make a lot of BIG waves over in securities... Ugh!

I agree that the people who posts a lot of spam are very annoying, good to report them. However, the people who posts a lot of posts that contribute to the community (like me, I hope my posts are constructive, I have 600 more posts then my activity!) are fine in my opinion. There isn't anything going on behind the scenes for dedicated all-day posters, (at least in my case) we just have tons of time to waste.
Real spammers are distinctive and can have even 10 times more posts than activity. Last one I reported made over 100 posts in 2 days, all in the same thread...

Are you talking about Bruno in the BFL thread? Bruno is the only person I've seen that can effortlessly make hundreds of posts a day. Since he started attacking mining companies he's even more prolific. Funny thing is he claims that he has never mined a single Bitcoin! I think his profit is in the attack.  Wink

He reached escape velocity quite a while ago, it would take a full time mod to deal with his off topic posts so the only feasible solution for the mods is to ignore them.

I heard rumors that he's extorting money from companies with these attacks and was actually paid to stop months ago, when he disappeared from the forum, but these are probably just rumors.
The person I mentioned before wasn't Bruno, he at least writes proper English. That guy was simply spamming curses mixed with retarded slang.

who buys the accounts though? Is there any legitimate reason to buy an account?

Who? The same people that buy or are interested in bitcoin. The legitimate and most popular reasons people buy accounts are for signature campaigns which you can usually see a ROI within a month. Some people buy them to get a head start with their business and/or bypass newbie restrictions etc. Of course, that being said, sometimes people do buy them for nefarious reasons but those are rare and the community usually busts them before they've even had the chance to successfully scam.

I'll start writing down the various names. I regularly read one, think; "hmmm it's that guy again" then I look at name, always different.... I wonder if it's a sweatshop or gold mine rather, a bunch of guys and they rotate accounts so if you check the post history there's a variety of styles?

Are you sure it's not many different people and you're just incorrectly assuming they're all the same? If people are posting shit just report them via the report to mod button and they'll get dealt with.

I was involved in a click fraud scheme against adsense back in 2011 or so. We all made a lot of money for a year or two, people had multiple accounts, no one ever got prosecuted, Google don't wanna admit it exists, and would have to expose all, including the algorithm they used to detect every detected fraudster, see? Really small time but fool proof in a lot of ways too. It's actually the first place I ever heard of btc.
Lol anyway, it opened my mind to these sorts of financial espionage. Just a bunch of college age jokers on IRC, for a few years, it's amazing what you can pull off without barely trying.
I'm making my list. You will see it soon.

I report any of these guys that I see and as someone on a sig campaign I do try my best not to make shit posts, most likely they're also trying to cheat the system and make multiple accounts because they tend to use the same writing style so they're probably doing it to try and make some quick coins.
I've noticed the same thing, I'm guessing it's one guy posting on many, many accounts. I get the feeling he likes to start threads too, all equally as inane.
Now I am curious as to what other forums even allow sig campaigns? I've never seen it or noticed it rather.
I like the little btc I make with my sig but I also have issue with the declining quality of the content here. Not a problem with me if sig campaigns go away. I'm not going anywhere, but I am more and more tempted to lay on the sarcasm when I suspect shit-posting. Makes for a bad atmosphere all around, plus it makes it appear to casual observers that the btc community are largely made up of 12 year old ESL students with aspergres syndrome.

Mostly it's too difficult for me to tell if they are post-fluffers or just honestly dumb. Truely vapid writing is not something I want to look at too intently. Kinda poisons one's creative well-spring.

I do know the user/users you speak of though, and I believe it has maybe come time to report on the most obvious and flagrant. Even though I don't like to because, who's to say I've got anything so spectacular to offer? I often misspeak and get stuff all turned backwards. I participate in idle banter and I am not especially knowledgable about btc (it's why I'm here in the first place)
So I guess I don't wanna judge too quick, because, this one poster, I just really feel sorry for him. What an incredibly dull mind. It seems like he's trying to be affable, he just has jack shit to say. Asks pointless questions too, in brand new threads. Know who I'm talking about? He goes by about 50 names lol.

Why do you think the money from Mt. Gox have been invested into escort services?

No it won't  Wink

Why not? What makes you say that? How did you come to this conclusion?

Your posts are borring and borderline trolling. You just post your opinion, but without any arguments or reasons attached to them there is nothing to discuss. I tend to think that this is a discussion board.

Yeah I hate those guys to freaking much they should all go and get real jobs

Yea, right...

Hey you kid, need a few coins for a steam game? Get a job! Not some fancy forum shit, a REAL job!

Too bad you guys voted morons in that destroyed the economy so we can't get jobs Tongue

Ha. I wish people would stop saying stuff like 'get a job' to people as if they know their employment status or life circumstances. Sometimes it's not as easy as just 'getting a job' for some people no matter how hard you try or how intelligent you are or what qualifications you have and some countries are just far worse off than others (and I'm not just talking about developing nations either - it's pretty fucked for a lot of people here in the UK right now as I'm sure Lethn will agree). For some people they just do what they can to survive or get that little bit extra every month and I imagine to quite a few people on here the money they make from this forum makes their lives that little bit easier or is just a nice addition and very easy way to aquire a decent amount of btc.

Ok anyways, I think there is a problem with necros too. (The act of bumping up a really old thread with a new post) there have been a growing amount if necrowers these days, bumping up old threads that are from the start of 2014 or older.

I don't think posting a large number of posts in a day is intrusive, as I post a lot here, (595 posts!) as long as those posts have meaning and help the community. However, spamming rubbish should not be allowed.
Yes it is a problem. They revive threads from 2012/13. I report them sometimes.

If it adds to the discussion and is generally a constructive post I don't think there is a problem of reviving the old thread. unless of course they have only done it to bump etc.

I don't know what's the motive of some people to spend all day posting here. Even after the changes on signature campaigns, and the decline of pay per post campaigns we still have some people that try to boost their post count getting 2-3 pages (which is 20 posts each just in case you don't know) of posts a day that make little to no sense. I'm sure I don't even need to name any of those people since everyone has a couple of them in mind. Why do those individuals are constantly ignored by the moderators? Is this the new thing that everyone with an old enough account can take over boards, reply to every topic with replies that take no effort to make and add nothing to the discussion wiuthout even getting a warning? Those people make browsing the forum hard for everyone else, plus banning them could maybe help them do something more productive.

It's hard to ban someone just because he posts too much if all his responses or most his responses are constructive. Some members post a lot but don't participate in a signature deal, it's fun to post and be part of many thread, spreading your ideas and learning a thing or two in the process.

More messages means more money and a bigger impact on Bitcoin for the forum if the messages are constructive and interesting enough.

I somewhat suspect that some of the shit posters are using some kind of script/bot to post, although I do not have any evidence (it is just a conspiracy theory). I think people do this in order to get their post count (and rank) up, probably as part of an account farm.

You should report any shit posts that you see and they will be looked into by a moderator/staff member and the users will potentially be banned if they have enough shit posts

can we define "shit post"Huh

i think "+1" "GREAT" "+5%" or something like this could be defined shit...

but not a post like "thanks", "thanks a lot", if some one get helped and they want just to thank someone!!!

if you have a post "schema" to submit to define shit post we are here to help bitcoin forum to report to moderator!!!

Just report posts or users if you think they're making shitposts, but merely making a lot of posts isn't a valid reason unless they're half-assed and unconstructive.

It's unlikely or very rare that people currently on sig deals are using bots or when they do they usually get caught pretty fast. We do occasionally get hit by waves of newbie spam bots that I can only assume are trying to build up their accounts for whatever reason but most of the bots recently are just from scammers, trolls and fudsters like Marinecoin and falling etc.

Ok I will report them from now on. Hopefully it will stop them.

Well it wont help much on their rank as ranks are time based.

Post count well...I guess they could challenge the top posters.  Tongue
It is based on both time and number of posts. If someone only posts twice then they can have a maximum of two activity, however if they post 14 posts all in the same day then they can potentially get 14 activity (assuming they are a newbie)
