The bricking claims seem to be overhyped, as usual. Crashing is a normal protection mechanism.
Nothing unusual here, either a bug in the game or a change in the game exposed a previously unknown, or unfixed
driver bug.

Or an already lingering hardware failure which would have happened probably later on with a different game or program altogether like Hogwarth, Resident Evil for example.

Mining on powerful video cards has one big problem, which is clear even without words in this video.
https://vk.com/video193843045_456239051?
There are a lot of miners complaining about bad connectors, and the video is not the worst power supply. Corsair works fine with weak video cards, but beginners should be aware of these problems. This will not happen in a week or a month, so I recommend that all beginners start with video cards with less power consumption.

Is this the same thing that happened with Amazon's MMO game where it bricks some Nvidia cards? IIRC, the issue is also related to uncapped FPS in the main menu, kind of wild that the same thing happened again. I thought either Nvidia or the game developer will fix it. I don't think it is hard that to put a cap on FPS from the driver or even the game itself no?

The bricking claims seem to be overhyped, as usual. Crashing is a normal protection mechanism.
Some claim that the GPU is dead though, as it no longer works after the crash. Not sure how reliable that claim is though. IIRC some people also claim the same thing when New World comes out, it is word investigating at least if more reports show up.

Since the beginning of 2016 I have been mining. I've seen a lot of problematic AMD Radeon HD 7970 and AMD Radeon HD 7990 cards that overheated a lot, but they were re-mined, not broken. It is also very difficult to burn the power supply if it is of high quality, because it will turn off if it overheats.
But if the fan of the power supply is broken, then the transistors can explode.
It was an AMD GPU but i really cant remember what exactly card it was and yes my power supply was just an standart one.
After that misstake i got me i guess it was and 270x Vapor and a high quality poewer supply as this whole thing was a lesson for me.
That was the only GPU i killed and since then i dont play much around with overclocking and this things.

But its a shame for Nvidia that the GeForce RTX 3080 even cant handle some new game.
Video cards do not break from overclocking; even an experienced master cannot repeat such a trick. My power supplies burned, my sockets burned due to bad contacts, but the video cards remained working. Usually server power supplies burned video cards, and on standard PSUs this is possible, but very difficult.

Yes i agree, mining does not kill anything, mostly it is an existing hardware failure or user failure.

@Topic:

It is a normal failure. Such failures can happen in betas or new games or after an update - the games developer can´t test on every different pc configuration and the overall problem is - the fps are not locked in menu, so the FPS beginn to fly to the moon - the card is overheating. This is normal and i don´t unterstand why developers don´t limit the FPS is menus and so on. I would always limit the FPS in menus to the Monitor refresh rate.
In CoD MW2 you can set a max FPS for the menu, so the card can´t overheat.

The stress that new games put on GPUs is more than the cooling of them with default software can handle.  As a miner, I've always been amazed that without tools like Afterburner to control your fan speeds and GPU temps, the default software allows the GPU to get WAY TOO HOT for long periods of use.  Gamers are about to be educated on why they need to have custom fan settings for their GPUs...

I played the Diablo IV demo on my Series X.  No problems.  However, the game is basically the exact same game I played in the mid-90s.  I wasn't impressed at all, but it was just a beta.

It looks like a strange thing to happen, mining do not kill them not only in 20 minutes but even in 20 years if you keep them clean and cool.I think that this is definitely not a fun thing to happen to anyone even to gamers who buy things with the money of their parents  Grin (yes I am that mean).

I am thinking now, does anyone with the Rtx 4090 tried it and if the same happens even to such card then it is only natural that Blizzard should be held accountable.I also know that to held them accountable is extremely difficult but if other people do not know what happens and they go ahead and install the game and the damage can be even worse.

I dont know how long you are in mining or into crypto but back in the days around 2012 it was possible to burn a GPU with mining.
And yes of course , it was happend to me , i killed my GPU and burnt the power supply with it too in the first days and
weeks when i got into mining and havnt got any experience with the settings , cooling and all that stuff.

LMAO Cheesy Cheesy

I hope some fanboy PC gamers are reading this right now, I sold almost all my Graphic cards to gamers that don't see any problem using such GPU for gaming, and none of them have ever called me back to report a case of dead GPU, I don't blame those who think otherwise, they don't just understand is all, but they aren't ready to learn either.

RTX 3080 Ti GPUs Are Mysteriously Dying On Diablo IV Beta
Lilith's reaping RTX 3080 Ti souls.

Blizzard recently released a playable beta of Diablo IV. However, it appears that not everything is sunshine and rainbows in the Sanctuary, though. An alarming amount of user reports have emerged on Reddit(opens in new tab) and the Blizzard forums(opens in new tab), claiming that the beta is bricking the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, one of the best graphics cards.

One Reddit user reported that his Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Vision OC 12G had perished after playing the game for only 20 minutes. According to the Redditor's recount, the cutscene in the chapel was the exact moment his GeForce RTX 3080 Ti went haywire. It didn't take long before other affected users started to pitch in. Another user(opens in new tab) claims the cutscene also bricked his Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Vision OC 12G. However, users have also experienced crashes during normal gameplay too.
