ORLY?  Who would be doing that?

Well, it depends on how much it costs. If it's too much, it would be a collaborative thing. If not, then one Bitcoin company may set up there (I'm not sure that he wants me to reveal it yet, so I won't say which). But in all likelihood, there will be a Bitcoin related tent there. I'm thinking that a delegate paying even part of his way with Bitcoins would be huge for whoever is there promoting Bitcoin, and the people putting on the tent should have an interest in it.

And yes, I understand the difficulty in fund raising. That's why I'm looking for ideas rather than just straight donations. It would be great press for Bitcoins. He's promised to talk about Bitcoins if he can get a sponsor.

it gave me the idea of getting him to the convention with Bitcoins. He's an avid Bitcoin user himself. Any suggestions about what one could do?

Trying to raise a fair amont of funds for something like this is not all that easy, from what I've seen.  What's needed is a compelling reason to help.

There is a Bitcoin ChipIn now:

Also, there may be a Bitcoin tent at an event (Paul Festival) just before the convention. So knowing these things, any ideas?

Incidentally, there are two simultaneous events:
Then in August in Florida right before the RNC are two Libertarian events:

On August  24, 25 and 26, 2012 at the Fairgrounds in Tampa:

Also on Augh 24-26 in Polk County (near Tampa):

I have a friend who is a delegate for Ron Paul from a northern state and will be at the national convention this August. However, the whole thing will set him back about $3k. He's set up a ChipIn for half of that where people can help him out. I didn't have cash, but had starting selling on BitMit when I decided to donate a portion of what I made from that to get him to the convention. While it was very little, it gave me the idea of getting him to the convention with Bitcoins. He's an avid Bitcoin user himself. Any suggestions about what one could do? Maybe this could be a bigger thing, and be extended to multiple delegates. Also, there may be a Bitcoin tent at an event (Paul Festival) just before the convention. So knowing these things, any ideas?
