That's not going to happen. $260 was, I think, largely due to currency speculation.

The price is always in large part due to speculation, as with any commodity. We should consider that while a good deal of future potential may be priced in, that potential still includes the significant chance of falling to zero.

We are over $100 per full bitcoin and the real bull hasn't even started yet.

You can estimate a near-best case situation: Bitcoin completely replaces the US Dollar outside the US. Inside the US, they'll probably try to prevent that from happening. There are obviously many other currencies used outside the US, but the dollar gets used a lot. About 800 billion dollars worth. Say that all goes to the 21 million total Bitcoins to ever be minted. 800B divided by 21M = about $38,000 per bitcoin.

That's not going to happen. $260 was, I think, largely due to currency speculation. But as Bitcoins become more and more spendable, which they are, it's quite possible that they could be int he $500-$1000 range within 5 years. That's my guess, anyway.

$200-$400 is future? No, that was in the past already! Smiley

Long term I'd hazard a complete guess at >>$10k/BTC, or zero. Both are very possible.

$200-400 a few years down the road, depending on how received it will be with vendors.

I'd say it has no long-term future. It's slow and cumbersome. It's also associated with Pump and Dump, so few reputable vendors would accept it as payment (unless somehow it was hedged to the dollar).

In the short-term, I think about $300, maybe $500 is possible.

But if Silk Road went out of business ...

I think that the current coins won't be around for very long as better coins emerge, but I'm certain there is a very positive future for virtual currencies in general.

There's a lot of talk of how much 'coins will be worth in the future.  some say 13k/btc some say 100+k/btc some say 0.  What do you all think?
Your question implies that there is one future price that we are to predict here. What is the future price of anything? Look at gold, euro, heroin, wheat, roses, internet connection - do you ever see price fluctuating, then finding some equilibrium "future price" and staying there forever???  WTF?!

Rethink your question, this is not working out.

Those big numbers you referenced seem quite optimistic, but it doesn't hurt to see the cup half full.
