And he needs to have a strong mind to stop gambling forever.
I think he needs more than a suggestion or motivation. He also requires a preoccupation with some positive activity, it was necessary to distract his mind from gambling addictions.

Addiction is the real reason why people experience this kind of gambling disorder.
It's true that every people who became an addict in gambling have experience mental disorders in gambling. My question is how do gamblers avoid and stop this gambling disorders?

The only way for them to avoid and stop is by asking someone else to help them to go with him to everywhere he goes and always remains him to stay away from gambling and ask that gambler to do another activity. With the helped from other people especially from his beloved person, I am sure that he will obey and will follow the suggestion. And he needs to have a strong mind to stop gambling forever.

Once you started to enjoy playing gambling you will get addicted to it, that is why for you to avoid and stop these gambling disorders, you better first teach yourself to have a self control while playing gambling because you will not experience greediness in terms of gaining a lot of money or profit. People should also not rely on gambling to get easy money because the only purpose of gambling is entertainment and to have fun not to make you rich or be good in gambling.

I agree with all those signs and symptoms, because I've been there and done than. And the only way I was able to really get out of it was to experience rock bottom, it's really a painful and difficult, but I must say that its really a unpleasant discovery on my end. Losing my job and almost losing my family was the last straw for me in 2015.

Right now I do play in land based casino's and even more online. However, I don't have the same purpose as before, right now I just try to play and have some fun. And I spend most of my time with my family now, unlike before, when I have the money, first thing I do is gamble.
Thank you for sharing your experience and I am happy to know that you have been able to come out if this. Like you mentioned "you no longer have the same purpose that you had then". I think purpose or let me use Motive to entering Gambling in most cases is what lead gamers to become pathological gamblers.

I have seen from experience that those who start gambling with the motive of I must make it here end up getting addicted, they hereby do all they can spend all their time and resources because of a mindset but if the purpose is to have fun then gambling becomes easy. Gamblers who gamble for fun do not even see a loss as a big deal.
Getting your is really a sole purpose of entertaining yourself, a gambler who look at this venue to have some fun never ever complained about loses that they've take out from this activity, they are free for being addicted as they can let go whatever amount they lose as long as they being entertained and the lust of gambling has been filled up after the game.

There's difference between every intentions that has been made when a person getting involved to this activity.

Indeed, the post you're replying to is really just too ridiculous Tongue
I've seen more people of below average intelligence here than on other forums.

Besides, gambling addictions do not have anything to do with intelligence.
People who get addicted are not necessarily dumb and it's just plain idiotic to say something like that.
Bruh, you need to do some research before throwing some comments here and there.
The relationships between intelligence and gambling addiction already discussed in various academics studies.
Have a nice day and keep learning! Wink

I am surprised that increasing money to achieve the desired level of excitement while gambling is listed as one of the symptoms of a compulsive gambler. I don’t want to believe everyone who do this is should be tagged a pathological gambler. It all depends on the players worth. If you have so much money to throw around and wish to even increase to achieve your desired fun, then go ahead but not at the detriment of others or as long as it does not jeopardize any important thing, that’s my view but all other point seem meaningful. Kindly seek help if you suffer any of the listed symptoms by the OP.

I'm assuming that everyone really knows the bad effects of gambling including me. But I won't categorically say that I'm a pathological gambling. Maybe in the early years of my gambling journey, wherein I don't have responsibilities in life. But it didn't arrived wherein I need to seek medical attention. I simply go and mature and learn to prioritized things in my life that's why I was able to learn how to control my gambling habits up to know, I win some, I lose some, that's just the way it is. I wake up the next morning, not thinking about it and go on life a normal life as if nothing had bad/good happen to me last night in my gambling world.

When anyone has a big loss in gambling and he is not expecting this much loss, that can really cause a shock. I have seen people loss in gambling suffer from depression and headaches. It is a sort of game which can give you tension and even constant blood pressure.
When I was a newbie in bitcoin gambling I experienced that big loss. In the first place, I win big amount and I said I want to gamble it again to double my earnings. And then I didn’t expect to lose all of it at single bet so it really hurt my feeling losing that big amount of money so I said to myself that I will get back on my feet to recover that fiats. Then suddenly, I lost again and learned that I need to stopped to gamble my bitcoin. I concluded that being greedy in gambling makes you lose more so it is better to stay away on it when you have no luck at all.

You said you play to have fun... this mean you enjoy gambling, so what happens if you stay away from what makes you happy, in this case gambling?  Won't it lead to depression and anxiety?

I guess some addicts are heavily dependent on what causes them addiction while other addict(addicts with strong willpower) are not heavily dependent on them,. This probably explains your current situation?

Compulsive gambling activities is not good because we are to gamble for fun.  Gamble to the level that it became compulsive or addictive is gambling taking too far.  I think we are to pause when it get to the level were we have to gamble with money we cannot afford to lose.

We are to gamble for fun? Do you think all of the people are playing them for fun? If you are I think that is how kids think. Gambling is a way to earn money, and if you say that it is for fun then do you think those people that answered you that they will just gamble for fun, really just want to have fun? No, they want to earn money through gambling and if someone is gambling compulsively? Then that person is already addicted, there is no way that he is just having fun gambling, he can't resist that way to earn money the reason he always come back at casinos.

He probably meant that addicts  gamble for fun. I guess that is what research says. . so our opinion on it doesn't really matter too much. Greed may really not be a reason why gambling addicts get addicted. Normal gamblers could get greedy, gamble more, lose money, regret later and stop gambling. Addict seems to have little control over this things as op explained

So the only one that we can do related with gambling is we know how to control ourselves, we have an effort to stay away from gambling and not use gambling as redemption or searching for satisfying because we have one problem in our real life.
I see a lot of people talking about gambling as a method to relax themselves and have fun but I think that's just an excuse to not quit gambling. I say this from my own experience. A very few times I felt good when gambling and that's because you care about your money and you want to make profit, not lose everything. And since most of the times people are losing money when gambling I don't see how you can call that fun.

It is not an excuse to not quit gambling, those who gambling for fun/entertainment purpose are aware that they need to spend some money to get the fun. Just like if you have a hobby, you need to pay something to do your hobby regularly. Those who use gambling as a fun activity wont care about the losing money, they considered as a fee entry. Like if they are watching soccer match every weekend where they need to buy tickets to watch the game although in fact they can watch it through the Television. If you cant call a losing money as a fun thing in gambling, means that you are not a type of gamblers who do it for fun. Simple as that, it is about how we deal with what we are going to do.

That's a very good point man and i agree in some areas. The problem is we don't really have the same outlook towards gambling, same as with any other aspects in life. I believe that there are people who succumb to addiction and even if they want to be out of it, they just can't seem to let go. It's a serious problem for a lot of gamblers and it should be taken seriously as well by us who don't suffer from such addiction.

Many few people take gambling as fun. Also it is not recommended to take gambling easy because your real money is at risk, and you will not want to lose your money. Addiction in gambling only comes in when you are not sure what are your limitations. If you dedicate some money for gambling, then for sure you will not be addicted and you will also not lose more than you can afford.

And that is why it is called gambling.
How fun it is to be a risk taker? Yes, it gives you a feeling that you cannot get in playing sports or other games.

That moment in poker when you have the upper hand and suddenly the player you are against are calling all your bets.
The excitement when you know it is all going to be yours. Like missing your baby after not seeing him or her for a year and you are on the plane on the way to him.

But there is the bad side. Yes, that losing experience. I hate that but it is like a must if you are a gambler or else no gambling companies will open anymore. Grin

I really commend the OP for taking out time to draft this very insightful post. It’s an interesting post and I hope most people who get to learn.

No matter the definition we all have to gambling, the overall purpose is fun, when any gambler start to experience any of this above listed symptoms it is advisable to seek a professional help. It’s better checked earlier till it gets out of hand not to a point where the gambler must have lost everything to gambling.

Not everyone is same. I have seen many people involved so much in gambling emotionally that they end up losing everything. In order to curb this psychological setback, the only way is to become emotionally strong. After all gambling is more of competition against own self than against odds. In order to become mature gambler, one can choose any of the following way:
1. Pro Gambler : Here professionalism doesn't refer to expertise in picking the right odd but refers to the calculative mind. If you are practical and calculative in every bet, recording your financial gain/loss after every bet then you may not lose much even if odds are against you or even end up winning huge.
2. Fun Gambler : So instead of taking gambling as gambling, assume it as a game. Use only that much of your funds which you can afford to lose. I generally bet just $30-40 weekly in sportsbook just for fun. Even if I end up losing, it doesn't matter much.

Thank you very much for the full load information you have provided. My family was victims of gambling disorder because of my grandfather's influence. My Grampy was so much addicted to gambling at the point that he sold our properties just bet in the casino. I still remember the time where our house was so nice and classic and was very expensive but the time he became addicted to gambling, everything went to zero.

You need to help your family if you really love them. No matter if that will hard, you need to solve the addicting gambling of your grandfather. Together, I am sure that you could bring your family to the right path and they can end the addicting to gambling forever. The important is you don't stop to tells them that gambling can ruin their life including your family.

Everyone in the bitcoin forum should have above average intelligence, so I'm not really concern about these disorders. Gambling is a part of the history of humankind and here we already know what are the downsides of gambling. It's a trade-off between risks and returns while getting some enjoyment in the process. People that are addicted are mostly not intelligent because they dont think about their life on what would they end up if ever they will continue about thier addictions while there were also smart addicts that can be able to get out of their addiction and will come back again sooner or later because they feel empty without gambling .

@adzino , no they are not  . i think you are only judging them too early just because you cant easily understand what their saying  .

Many gamblers do not know when to pause, I think the reason for this is because they cannot control the joy they derive from the game, many tend to spend a lot of time playing the game and I think too much time spent  on gambling has an effect on the brain that leads to addiction. It’s good to stop at a point. Self control is very required in this game.

But, it is quite unfortunate many lack this, so it is important to put a stop to the game at some point, and the first rule of gambling is gamble with gamble with what we can afford to lose.

Yes, they were able to use bitcoin/cryptocurrencies, use the internet, use the gambling sites, posting on this forum/literate, etc.
That should be enough to become "above average intelligence" of this earth population.

Yeah  . this topic is pretty useful for a pro or noob gambler but what about other gamblers that are not a member on this forum ? even if they dont read such topics like this , they can still combat the addiction or any other bad effects of gambling as long as they are wise and knowlegeable enough and as long as they still give importance to their life  .  gambling is only a game or a form of fun and profitable activity , it cant totally control ones life .

So far, I decide when I can play gambling, because I only play for fun, nothing more. I don't mind to lose a small amount of the coin in every time I gamble because that is the price for what I should pay for the gamble. And when I think it's enough for me to play, I quit and close the browser. Maybe you can try what I did, but the most important thing you should do is to have a control for yourself.

I think that the article is somewhat accurate. Why? Because i met a millionaire girl from Asia who was addicted to gambling too.

What she did was heavily control her spending and that made her capable of controlling it. She also hired an accountant to be in control of her finances so she wouldn't slip or that would be too awkward for her. It was more something mandated by the board of one of her companies but it turned out pretty well.

There some people have a piece of advice if they need it and it can work for their specific situation.

The urge to gamble becomes so great that tension can only be relieved by gambling more and more.

This is most likely cause of Gambling addiction but it does not make much sense why  a gambler would relief tension by playing a tensed game/gambling and possibly losing?

We all are addicted to something though not just the gambling addicts. God help us all.
Gambling is just like a drug that once you've tasted it, you will always gonna find it. And that's the symptoms of an addicted gambler, they only find joy when they were playing but they didn't think the risk that they have to suffer. They were just like a consumer of a product taking and taking and taking endlessly because the joy and happiness that they've felt. But, once a person has self-discipline and he can control everything on what was his body wanted him to do.

A compulsive, or pathological gambler is someone who is unable to resist his or her impulses which can lead to severe consequences. The urge to gamble becomes so great that tension can only be relieved by gambling more and more.
Sufferers are often unaware, or in denial, of having a problem. The step toward addressing the gambling is admitting there is a problem. For some people, this awareness comes only when they reach rock bottom. This was formerly a compulsive disorder, and now considered an addiction disorder in the DSM-5https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/DSM-5

How do you know if you are a compulsive, or pathological, gambler?
•   Persistent and recurrent problematic gambling behavior leading to clinically significant impairment or distress, as indicated by the individual exhibiting four (or more) of the fol¬lowing in a 12-month period:
•   Needs to gamble with increasing amounts of money to achieve the desired excitement.
•   Is restless or irritable when attempting to cut down or stop gambling.
•   Has made repeated unsuccessful efforts to control, cut back, or stop gambling.
•   Is often preoccupied with gambling (e.g., having persistent thoughts of reliving past gambling experiences, handicapping or planning the next venture, thinking of ways to get money with which to gamble).
•   Often gambles when feeling distressed (e.g., helpless, guilty, anxious, depressed).
•   After losing money gambling, often returns another day to get even (“chasing”one’s losses).
•   Lies to conceal the extent of involvement with gambling.
•   Has jeopardized or lost a significant relationship, job, or educational or career op¬portunity because of gambling.
•   Relies on others to provide money to relieve desperate financial situations caused by gambling.
•   The gambling behavior is not better explained by a manic episode.

Most people, whether they have a problem with gambling or not, can relate to the idea that people get excited when they win, and feel disappointed when they lose.Beyond the initial feelings of sadness from losing, when someone has a gambling problem they may feel depressed, as well as perhaps experiencing feelings of shame and guilt. Most people experience some of these signs at different times in their lives but if you notice they are happening more often you may be feeling depressed. take further information in this site

I hope that no one of us (gamblers) in this forum suffer from this so called “problem gambling” or “gambling addiction”
I know all of us know the effect of gambling in our life, but this is just a simple reminder for every member of this forum to take care the wonderful life that Almighty YHWH gave us.

I know that gambling gives us the unexplainable feeling to relieve what we feels. When we gamble we forget our problems, and always remember that we should do gamble just for fun and we are gambling the amount what we are afford to lose to prevent a sort of guiltiness and regrets and we will not encounter the symptoms mention above on being a pathologival gambler. If you have some suggestions and other info’s to add, feel free to state your suggestions, opinions and comments.

I don’t know if this is the right place to post this topic, please guide me if where is the proper place to post this. Thank you very much
when I was reading this statement I understand only one thing there is no complete solution for the gambling addiction the person will definitely need to put lot more effort to change his Lifestyle only he can make the next more so everyone should understand gambling properly you will definitely last but managing them will not be our work so do it with more Limited situation then only you can manage the losses also.

My Grampy was so much addicted to gambling at the point that he sold our properties just bet in the casino. I still remember the time where our house was so nice and classic and was very expensive but the time he became addicted to gambling, everything went to zero.

Glad to hear that you broke out of your early habits but many people are not so fortunate.  Gambling habits are formed early especially from the types of video games we have nowadays.  These companies are doing everything they can to hook customers, we are talking about billions of dollars per year.

This is most likely cause of Gambling addiction but it does not make much sense why  a gambler would relief tension by playing a tensed game/gambling and possibly losing?

We all are addicted to something though not just the gambling addicts. God help us all.

Everyone in the bitcoin forum should have above average intelligence, so I'm not really concern about these disorders. Gambling is a part of the history of humankind and here we already know what are the downsides of gambling. It's a trade-off between risks and returns while getting some enjoyment in the process. Happy gambling everyone Smiley
Lol, you really think everyone on the forum has above average intelligence? Lmao. Man I guess who haven't seen most part of the forum. You will see the forum actually filled with bunch of retards that is here just to spam.
Moreover, having above intelligence and not being concerned about the disorders are/cannot be related.

But othee people who are relaxing when they play gambling and they will be enjoyed and I think that's the meaning of Fun.
Gambling is really good to earn money in short period of time only but it can cause also for your money to gone once you lost on that day when you play.  It depends to people if they lose if they still think gambling is for fun but if they think that we need to respect them because that is their money because maybe they are millionaire or billionaire person so if they lost like hundred dollars they did not feel it.

What's the end goal of this topic? All of these information are available in Google and a little search will revel these! Are you offering any help to the impulsive gamblers so that they can come out of their addiction? I see no bottomline for this topic, however, if you can add few country wise phone numbers where gamblers can get psychological support, that would nake more sense!

yes, we can always search in google and a lot of articles will come up easily.
maybe the OP wants to share this bit of info to the gamblers here in the forum. but I bet they know where to find this info in case they want to know their gambling habit.
anyway, your suggestion is great. Country with their respective helpline for those who want to get this kind of support would be more useful.
the OP can add this on his post if possible and if someone knows a specific center near his area can post here also.

Do not just copy paste random information which can be found with a simple google search and you risk a ban here if many people start to complain.

Compulsive gambling is a well known fact and it is the main reason from which you can distinct an addicted gambler from a casual one.

While I do think that plagarism is bad, I do see the source being added NOW so once that's given it's added it's pretty fair

I do think that highlighting this information here, where people are going to be looking to get their 'fix' by gambling on one of the many sites that are advertised in peoples signatures, and in the gambling section as well. So I do think it is a pretty noble goal, as the people who have a gambling addiction most likely aren't going to admit it and go ahead and look for help. This is a way for them to stumble to it, randomly.

The chance of them landing here is low, but if it helps at least one person save their fortune then we've done our jobs. Eh?
Well a few numbers would be saved for those people who had realized that they are already on the path on being compulsive gambler. This is actually an unending job but atleast we have tried to save some
but majority would still fall to the pit and suffer consequences on the things they have done.

I was trying to look if the source link is being added and good thing he had listened before he gets banned.  Cheesy

It is true that it is a very general statement in this environment, it may not be appropriate to talk about it here because they partly understand the intent and how to anticipate each process, each gambler is generally late to anticipate everything, don't overdo it, the article must be responsible for everything you have done and your mind is very critical.

But I would like to add that it would have been far better if you had just written your own content.

That said, it's pretty interesting to read and i can imagine that this could come as a wake up call for some people.

So the only one that we can do related with gambling is we know how to control ourselves, we have an effort to stay away from gambling and not use gambling as redemption or searching for satisfying because we have one problem in our real life.

For example, we are not satisfied with what we got in real life, and we come to gambling place (online or offline). We feel that in that place, we can feel free to use what we want, we could play over and over for all day long. In gambling places, we don't have to think about the other things that could make us feels depressed.

One person becomes addicted to gambling is because he doesn't have control of his mind, body, and soul. Once he loses this, he will attract deeper to gambling, and it's hard for him to get his normal life, but it's not impossible for him.
