I mine in my garage (see the server rack in photo below) and have absolutely no issues with heat at all.
mind you.. I live on the side of a mountain in Colorado at 8000ft  Grin Grin Grin

I did see a unique approach to PC cooling, not sure if this will work for you. An old aquarium was filled with something like mineral oil and the functioning motherboard works while submerged.  The key issues are the certain points on the board.  This can be done without CD's, no DVD's and no other extra connections, just the motherboard, the power supply outside the oil and only a keyboard, mouse and network connection.  It does work, but take care.

The simple things that help are to remember two flow points, one in and one out for the room.  That can be the garage door slightly raised and a vent in the attic open with the attic access open.  These only help.

We have a recently finished mining room out in our barn that we just moved 2 rigs out too this weekend, soon to be 5 out there with a total of 11-12 by the end of the year (hopefully). We're using one of these to vent out hot air https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CN0DQ5Q/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 --- with an open window on the other corner of the room and 5 2500 cfm box fans to direct airflow as needed. Hopefully it will be sufficient.

I feel your pain.. I lived in Texas for a decade.  Shocked

It is a delightful 67 degrees up here right now at 1 in the afternoon.
If it hits 80 we consider it really hot  Cool

That said.. we have less at oxygen this altitude - I wonder if that effects my cooling's efficiency?

Jealous!!! Your ambient temps are way better I'm sure, it's 92*F outside over here currently.

That is a setup!  Nice looking garage.

My wife and kids would kick my behind if I told them I am taking over the garage and kicking their toys out---I must be doing something wrong haha.

I don't, actually. The only way water could get in is if wind was blowing the rain towards the house. There isn't anything directly behind the windows, so only the fan would potentially get wet. That's a good point, though. I might need to put that one on GFCI.

This is the fan that I bought:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007Q3RQ6

The picture doesn't do it justice, but it is BIG. So far it's been running for less than a week. With just that fan exhausting, the temperature dropped from about 85F to 75F. I'm in Seattle, so that's close to the ambient temperature at this time. Should drop even more once I get the intake installed as well.

I also have it mounted slightly behind the window, so the window can be closed if needed.

Another note, this thing needs to be mounted with screws or it will just vibrate itself out of the window. It's quite powerful.

Nice! Do you have anything else outside the window to prevent water from getting in in case there's a power outage? I'm exhausting out of a bedroom window and I cross my fingers every time there's a big storm, most of the exhaust hoods I've found are really overpriced for how simple they are.

I moved my operation to the garage. I had an electrician install 240v twist lock, and am running my rigs off of that.

I have also installed a whole-house window exhaust in the window about 5 feet away from the rigs. I have installed a security gate over the window, since it will be open 24/7, and a security camera. I am in a safe neighborhood, so probably overkill. Anyone that wanted to break in would also have to take out the fan somehow, since it is now mounted permanently in the window.

I need to setup a fan on the other side of the garage as a intake fan so that all the air flows in one direction.

I'm actually looking at putting a powerful fan in my mining room window.  I'm running regular box fans at the moment.  Do you have any pictures of the fan you have?  Or a link perhaps?  I'd appreciate it.

You do not want your intake and exhaust to be so close together without a barrier in between.  Preferably put them on opposite sides of the thing you are trying to cool in order to force the air through the equipment.

I did that a few years ago one summer in Las Vegas...only ventilation was from the anti-suicide (?) vents in the wall.  The fans on my Antminer S1s screamed along at full speed, and I might've burned out a Gridseed or two.  Even overnight, things never really cooled down much, and I didn't have a huge amount of equipment running (everything was within the limit of a single 120V 15A wall plug).

If I were to do that again, more ventilation would definitely be in order.  If possible, I'd even give consideration to move mining gear outside, so long as you can protect it adequately from (1) weather and (2) thieves.

I'm currently mining out of a bedroom and exhausting out the window, thinking about moving my setup to the garage if I can get the cooling right.

Plan would be to get garage door vents on top (exhaust) and bottom (intake) and then possibly redo the ceiling to insulate against the attic heat more efficiently.

I'm wondering what kind of ducts to use against the door vents, and/or what kind of fans y'all use.
