you can change the gas fee for a lower rate. I prefer mycrypto than myetherwallet.
Yes, it is becoming unbearable sending eth or ethereum based tokens, gas fee changed are too high as if that isn't enough, sometime takes till eternity before it will have a single network confirmation.
I think you can adjust the gas bill yourself too, it becomes high when the network becomes bloated or is under load, if you are not in a hurry to complete your transaction then you can select lower gwei then they will charge less but the transaction will be slow.

To be frank the gas fee is high indeed on Myetherwallet but it is not expensive
No matter how it’s still cheap when you use 2$ to send out your Etherum because exchanges charges over that
So let’s enjoy the cheap sending fees while it last

Right now the network is blocked. I tried to try with Gas 100. But still pending more than 15 minutes. Unbelievable with ETH this time 
Try to import your wallet to MyCrypto and see If the fees are the same or lower. I don't use the wallet but It's possible that its their algorithm but If the same problem applies everywhere, It's probably because of the Ethereum network being overloaded.
Well if you look at https://ethgasstation.info/txPoolReport.php , it shows that the % of the last blocks shows little percentage when set to low gas. I think there's a congestion happening on the blockchain right now, therefore, there is a need to increase the gas.
The high ETH fees is probably due to the congested network caused by Fcoin GPM. You may refer to the reddit discussion for more information.
