Good news, everyone!
We've decided to simplify our fee schedule. Starting today Wednesday 9th March, we'll be setting maker-taker pricing.
As a result, trading fees may be as low as 0.02%. Check out the new breakdown here: gatecoin
Please note that these new fees will be incurred AFTER your first trade, which will reflect the former fee structure.
-- FAQ --
What is a taker?
A "taker" is a trader who takes liquidity out of the market. The "taker" picks orders from the order book. The taker fee applies when you remove liquidity from the book by placing a market or limit order that executes immediately against a limit order already on the book. As a result, a taker has his orders executed instantly: they do not remain in the order book.
What is a maker?
A “maker” is a trader providing liquidity to the market. The "maker" posts orders to the order book. The maker fee applies when you add liquidity to the order book by placing a limit buy below market price or a limit sell above market price.
Why would the maker fee be lower than the taker fee?
The maker fee on Gatecoin is lower than the taker fee to incentivize traders to provide more liquidity to the exchange/order books.
When will the new fee schedule be active?
The new fee schedule will be active starting Wednesday, 9th March at 11:00am GMT+8.
