We are happy to announce the resumption of our trading services from today August 17th with zero trading fees until September 1st.
Trading and transfers are now available for:
BTC
ETH (10% of balances only)
DGD
DAO (withdrawals only)
REP (trading only)
EUR
USD
HKD
IMPORTANT: If you are transferring BTC, ETH or DGD to Gatecoin you will need to:
Log-in and create new Gatecoin wallet addresses.
Do not send any funds to your previous Gatecoin wallet addresses as they may have been compromised.
Remove your previous Gatecoin wallet addresses saved at other exchanges or wallets.
By the end of September 2016 we will also be adding and enabling:
CNY (Mainland China only)
DGX (gold-backed Ethereum tokens)
ETC (Ethereum Classic)
REP transfers (to coincide with Augur release)
We will provide an update on the exact date these will be available.
The status of ETH transfers and trading
All Gatecoin ETH holders can now withdraw and trade using 10% of their funds in ETH (and ETC from mid-late September).
The remaining 90% of ETH will be listed as ETD (ETH debt) on your Gatecoin account balance.
This ETD will be locked until we have the ETH liquidity to enable full reconciliation of ETD for ETH.
This 10% was calculated based on the ETH we had prior to the hack and the amount of ETH we currently have available for transfers.
What is ETD exactly?
ETD is simply a record of ETH debt that Gatecoin owes you and will appear on your account balance.
In other words, it is an ETH IOU or how much ETH you are not able to withdraw for now.
The value of ETD is linked to the Gatecoin market price of ETH.
ETD will not be tradable.
Free Ledger Wallets for clients with balances above ETH 10
Gatecoin clients with balances above ETH 10 before the hack are eligible to request a free Ledger Wallet (hardware wallet) until the end of September 2016.
These will be sent by post to your home address.
All requests should be sent to [email protected] with the subject: "Ledger Wallet Request."
ETH debt repayment plan
Capital injection - we are negotiating with our current Japanese investor for further commitments and we are also progressing with other leads but so far nothing has been closed.
Operational profit - will be used for ETH debt repayment until this investment is received.
