thx but this link doesnt seem to work either.. and my backup codes are 8 digits number, not 16 as mentioned in your article. :////

wtf i just feel terrible this is not a good day. Sad

I don't really know what kind of "backup codes" you have then.

Anyway, if there's no way to restore your GAuth, you should contact the support department of the websites where you have a 2FA-protected account to see what the procedure is to unlock your account.

so hum.. just lost my iphone with my 2FA GAuth on it... Can't regain access to my Bitstamp account nor my Havelock account without this 2FA... Any idea on what can i do???  I have so called "back up codes" but it doesnt seem to work on these websites (stamp & havel) Undecided

This is bad.  Embarrassed

The backup codes are used to setup a new GAuth. So grab another smartphone to install GAuth (or find a desktop version of it somewhere, for example this Chrome extension: http://www.labnol.org/internet/google-authenticator-for-desktop/25341/) and add a new account. At that stage, input the backup code. The GAuth for that account is now restored and you can use the codes generated by the other smartphone/app.
