It is intentional for every coin developer. Otherwise, the network will be forked whenever a user starts his own compiled wallet. You can't stop there.

I think no one knows why except for satoshi himself.
but if it is indexed by the clients the coins will become spendable. and that will make satoshi able to fork the network whenever he/she wants.

I am just wondering why the genesis transaction is skipped? Any particular reason?
