The words that more accurately to describe Borussia Dortmund's trend in my opinion is not a smooth start, because it's only been three matches so it's still very early days.
Dortmund is at least unbeaten, only drawing twice is not a pleasant result, and will make it difficult to fight for the title.
Dortmund will start to develop well in the course of time.
In a few seasons, they have become a fairly competitive team even though they always sell their star players but that doesn't immediately make their appearance as a weak team, it will indeed look weak because of adjustments to the departure of star players but will slowly improve again to become a competitor for Bayern Munich but only as a competitor because it will be difficult to bring down Bayern Munich, like it did last season failed at the end.

Victor Boniface is the most successful transfer this summer for Leverkusen. The reason is that currently he has scored 4 goals and 2 assists with Leverkusen and I think he will start to fill the Bundesliga top scorer this season. Last season, when he was still defending his previous team Saint Gilloise, he recorded a total of 22 goals in all competitions and as a striker he was also quite productive with 12 assists. I didn't expect Xabi Alonso to find this hidden gem and now Victor Boniface will be the focus for Leverkusen to achieve their targets this season, especially securing the champions league zone. But even if there is another target that is quite impossible, I think Leverkusen will become a new challenger for the Bundesliga title.

Dortmund are familiar with losing their star players because it is their favorite strategy with player exchanges, buying young and cheap players, then selling them as star players with expensive and surely profitable fees. @BlackBoss_ I don’t think that Dortmund owner’s would be worried yet because it’s just the start of the season and I’m sure that they’re trusting their process which has so far given them rich dividends. Furthermore I feel that in January Dortmund can bring back Sancho because he’s flopped at Manchester United and his return could be a very big boost for them because he was an important player for them.

Im feeling doubtful if dortmund will able to qualify for the play off stage. The performance is still far from good. It must compete with acmilan, newcastle and PSG which are strong teams.

But these players have lot on their plate right now and that is too much pressure to handle for a young player. I would say with bit more of intense games, they will really grow confident and will help the club for sure. Dortmund has fantastic scouts and coaches and they will really help the player to adjust quickly. Dortmund aren't in form so it could be anybody's game but Dortmund needs to win in order to climb up the table to compete with Bayern for table position later in the season.

One thing about Dortmund is that they're a big team but they don't really take major competitions very seriously, they just love to qualify for the top four and showcase their younger talents for top club to come them for a huge fee, that's what's been going on in the club for years now and if you noticed they've helped in developing many current top class players including, Haaland and Jude Bellingham not to talk of several other top players in previous times.
In the Bundesliga they're a strong team and on of the threats to Bayern Munich which has been their arch rivals over the years, and though they're not really performing as expected in their past three matches but soon we'll begin to see a turnaround and they'll start performaning brilliantly, whether they'll reach the round of 16 I the Champions League, that I'm not very sure yet, but the group they're in is very tough and the only club that won't really stress them much is Newcastle but I don't think they'll stand a chance against PSG or Acmilan, maybe if they step up but not with this current form.

You'll be suprised how You'll see them at the top four in the middle of the season or towards the end, one thing i like this team is that, even when they're not fully inform they'll always look for a way to quality for the Champions league and if you noticed them last season they were very competitive and almost won the league, anyways they're still unbeaten this season and even though they got two points from the matches they drew it's still better than losing both matches which would had probably landed them at 16th or so, i believe the league just started and they've only played three matches and just four points away from the first and second position Stuttgart and Leipzig who're in the 3rd and fourth position are just gaping them with a point which is very easy for Dortmund to meet up to and i believe that after the international break we'll see a different Dortmund again Frieburg, and hopefully they'll win the match even though they're playing from away.

It is the truth that Dortmund's front line isn't as strong as Bayern Munich considering a possible title race. Especially thanks to the addition of Kane to the team Bayern Munich are far stronger in the attacking line than all the remaining teams in the Bundesliga. On the other hand Dortmund have added Füllkrug to their squad right before the transfer window ended.

This transfer should make their attacking line more credible at least. Because as you can remember Füllkrug was the top scorer of the league last season.

Considering this I think Dortmund can at least improve their results by the upcoming matches and be good enough to fight for second place in the standings.
