The listing fee for Folgory exchange starts about 0.1 BTC. They made that proposal to list my project. By the way, I'm still looking for investors for that.
I guess this exchange site will be taken down by CTFC maybe as some US citizens that got scammed by this project already filled complaint form to be sent to the CTFC.
This is a scam exchange site. You should stop suggesting others follow your decision to create cooperation with scam exchange site.

Why would you suggest a scam exchange to a fellow member?
At least the best thing you can do is try to research about it before recommending someone to use it or else it looks like just trying to stab someone on the back. it's not smart.

why should I pay when I could just start my own exchange.
Starting your own exchange is still going to cost you money [it depends on its features, security and your knowledge + having to deal with government agencies at some point] + time [it'll take some time before it becomes a successful one and there's a big "if"].

hopefully BINANCE will be next, but you have to pay a lot to make your listing possible
Binance free? I doubt,

Binance free? I doubt,
Sometimes they really don’t charge. If I can remember, they have pointed the fee as 0-150 BTC. So, if you are a good project, Binance will list. See the Superfarm listing announcement from Binance, they have listed it in innovation zone and as per Binance it was free. I don’t have idea about secret dealing though which I doubt.
This is right. I remember CZ has said but I can't remember if that's on a tweet of him that if a project really is good and amusing and passed on the standards that he and Binance has set, they won't charge you any single penny just for the listing. And they have a voting feature just like other exchanges that will list them tokens that will win the community's vote.

Fees depends on exchanges. Binance sometimes says they don't charge a penny although I doubt.
Apparently they don't sometimes charge, but for this to happen I think the project has to be well established already and transparent. The criteria they will need in order for the project to be eligible for listing minus the fees alone will be headache to most mediocre projects.
Binance free? I doubt, at the time of 2017-2018 Binance was the most expensive exchange that asks for higher bitcoin of about 15btc, I don't know the oresrn amount now although should be bigger than that today, no exchange lists coin for free, all exchange charges large amount of Bitcoin to get listed on their own exchange, potential projects also give you more chance and opportunity to reduce the charge for your project is actually the exchange will have a collaboration with incoming project, example is SFP hardware wallet partnership with Binance.

You can't do anything by starting a new exchange. You won’t get any volume there. But listing on reputed exchanges certainly attract big investors as they will think about liquidity before investing in a coin.

You can check the fees here- https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/crypto-exchanges-comparison-trade-fee-listing-fee-age-mobile-app-more-5079048
The list was made long ago and possibly some infos are outdated.

But why pay anything anymore when you can just do an IDO now? Initial DEX Offering.

No listing fee so you can use all that money saved to make marketing to point people to directly buy the token from uniswap or sushiswap,,, I think this is now the best way for many projects to move forward with new listing.

How much should you pay to get your coin listed on an exchange ?

I know it all depends but what is the cheapest and most expensive, what should I expect. They all seem shady, plus why should I pay when I could just start my own exchange.

There's no exact amount on how much an exchange charge for their listing fees as they have different figure set depends on the season(Kinda not sure)
But you can read this article where people discuss about the listing fee and you might gonna get a idea on how much money you need to list your coin to be listed on some exchanges.

If you are doing ERC20 tokens, TRC10 or tokens on the EOS blockchain, you might wanna start off with the decentralized exchanges. Most don't charge listing fees.

If you are looking at popular centralized crypto exchanges, you are going to cough a lot in order to get your coin listed and each charges the way they please. Just try to reach out to the exchange you are interested in listing your coins. The Listing information is now usually publically available.

Inquire to different exchanges for you to have an idea how much they're asking for a coin to be listed and what are the other requirements they need.

I know it all depends but what is the cheapest and most expensive, what should I expect. They all seem shady, plus why should I pay when I could just start my own exchange.
Then that you're only getting an idea how much it is if you want to make your own exchange. But establishing its reputation is harder than you can imagine.

I'm not sure how much it should cost but I am pretty sure that you're mostly paying for the exposure that they can bring to your project.
