That does seem like a good idea of how to alert stores to this demand.

I think the internet should be on the internet. Thus, keeping BitCoins online would be better. Involving it into real world stores would require a lot more security. You may already know, but stealing a BitCoin Wallet and using it at the local store would be very easy. It would also require a lot of shops to have internet access, computer, and the client. I don't know about you, but I believe shops will not go for this as it is not a demand by people. I think BitCoins should try and get into the media, in order to get some real popularity.

For Bitcoin to go mainstream we need to be able to buy stuff with it in our local city. Stores need to start popping up that take Bitcoins as payment. I think there is a demand for it but no supply. Chicken-egg-problem. I think part of the solution is making stores aware that there is people in their city that are looking to buy things with Bitcoins.

To demonstrate this demand perhaps a website should be made. Perhaps - buyerswithbitcoins.com or something

This website
-allows people to create accounts with their location(s) filled in along with email address
-the user then creates a bunch of tags of what they want to spend Bitcoins on the most
-the website then creates a map of all the cities along with how many people live there and what they want to spend Bitcoins on (no names just total number, and tag frequency)
-if MANY fill it out it will motivate some shops to try it
-if a store does want to try it, they tell the website who then emails all the people in that city
-store performs the experiment with success as all the people are advised they are trying it
-store tells media of success
-Bitcoin takes over the world!

Some of the early adopters could be:
-coffee shops
-internet cafes
-tech/comp stores

Good idea?
