Use bitcoin-qt ONLY! Don't use online free wallet
If you dont mind downloading 12 GB blockchain, use official Bitcoin-qt client.
If you dont like the above, use Electrum client
If you dont like the above, use Electrum client
I've used the standard Bitcoin-qt client for years now. I recommend it.

I'm just getting started with Bitcoins and taking my first steps. From what I've read so far, a wallet seems to be a good starting point, hence the following question:
Which wallet is recommendable and why?
