Hi all,

Setup:
Gigabyte Z170 Gaming K3 (Socket 1151)
Intel Pentium G4400
8GB RAM
6x Sapphire RX 470 4GB

This is my first time setting up an AMD rig. Have only done Nvidia before.

I'm at my wit's end here trying to get this working. It's had issues from the start, could only get 4 GPUs working. Had to flash the BIOS so I did that and no 5 cards successfully work about 80% of the time. With a 6th it just spins the fans a bit, turns off and then repeats ad nauseum.

I've been told I need to get the OS into UEFI mode, and that hasn't changed anything.

I've seen this guide here: https://forum.z.cash/t/msi-z170-7-gpu-bios-setting-step-by-step/14473 but it's with an MSI board, and I can't work out the Gigabyte equivalent of peg0/peg1 or "above 4g encoding".

Any tips, or should I suck it up and switch to a z270, as it has the 4 extra PCI lanes?

Some people report to be able to get these (z170 chipset) working but others say they're just flawed.

I'll take help on how to get it working, or failing that, advice on what else to buy!

Thanks for reading Smiley
