I have been thinking...
Would it be totally crazy, if I gave 10-15 bitcoins to a woman, who helped me in a really really big way when I was younger.

I mean, would she think I was crazy if I do it?
Would it be a positive thing? Or just weird?

The coins were not worth much when I got them, so from that perspective, it's not THAT big a deal, right?

I would gladly give them to her, but I fear it could have a negative effect to what little friendship we have

And she is married with kids, so while I will always like her, there is no hidden agenda on my part here.

10-15 Bitcoin was a big amount of money, I mean if she helped you when you were just young I think it's just nice to give back to her.

If that's really what you feel and the amount of money doesn't matter to you, you should give it to her, I mean if she's a true friend it will never have a negative effect when it comes to friendship.

Maybe a big gift is enough, don't go for bitcoin or some kind of money because I just think it's not a good thing maybe if she really needed the money or something, anyway anything as a gift she's surely gonna appreciates it, but still, the decision was yours.

Considering the price of bitcoin right now, giving 10-15 bitcoins as a gift would definitely be crazy. Even though you managed to hold plenty of bitcoin while its value is still very low, it wouldn't be a wise decision to give some of it to someone. Also, you need to remember that the usage of bitcoin is still not relevant on many stuffs like buying things that can only be bought through fiat. Maybe it would be best if you would just start thinking about other gifts where your gratitude towards her can still be shown and it can be as expensive as you want since you mentioned, you managed to hold some of bitcoin at its lowest.

There is a time now when someone gives a gift of bitcoin to someone and if someone gets a gift, they can be very happy. I think a lot of people think that the price of bitcoin has skyrocketed because everyone likes bitcoin now and I think  It's a great way to gift a bitcoin to one another and everyone can be happier with a bitcoin gift.

It seems like you have a pure intention to give back from the favor or help that she have given you to show that much gratitude towards her. Just make it sure first that she will make it a point to use the Bitcoins and if she do really know how to manage and use those. 1 Bitcoin is already a big deal how about 10-15 which is surely a big one. But still, it depends upon you since you are the owner of those Bitcoins. Just make sure you still have plenty with you and be aware if she could make use of those because if not, then it will be just nonsense to gift it into someone who cannot barely use or manage it wisely.

I dont know if this becomes beneficial to the receiver if they do not have any knowledge of the bitcoin but if they discover the use of this coin this is a life change but is 10-15 bitcoin is overrated I guess if you think it talks about life it's priceless than your offer, not all the bitcoin we need to pay them really high just only being there when they needed.

.... Those coins could just disappear and no one ever benefits from it. You first have to make sure the person receiving fully understands it.

Its better that OP teach them first whats all about the bitcoin but i guess its struggle for them to understand if they are already old enough so there's a chance they will decline or recommend as fiat currency.

The problem with gifting bitcoin is not everyone understands it and not everyone sees the value. Those coins could just disappear and no one ever benefits from it. You first have to make sure the person receiving fully understands it.

You are a very kind friend. I don’t think it is weird to give back to someone that helped you a lot in times you are so down. She may feel a little weird because that’s a very large amount but if you will insist that that is your gift to all the things that she did to you, maybe she can understand and accept that. Do not think what other people will think about it, as long as you and she understand your true friendship.

It is okay to give bitcoin to her but she would appreciate it if you gave her material thinks, car a gadget or something that she can touch. I thibk she would appreciate that rather than bitcoin. 10 bitcoin is too much but it also depends on you at the end of the day she would thank you a lot if you gave her a friendly present.

Depends on  how she understands this system,  if she got the idea about it

For sure she'll enjoy the gift, that numbers of bitcoin  in its value  now is really  nice

As a gift, though  if she don't have any knowledge  about  it then it might not  appreciated.

If you want to look  luxurious  buying her a car or  something  precious  that worth the same

With your bitcoin  will surely  appreciated.

This is really a great decision. I think she will be very glad to get those bitcoin. In the present price of Bitcoin, 13/14 bitcoin price is so much. She can lead her life easily by those bitcoin.
Your thinking is also right that this could effect her married life, because her husband can thinking negativity. For this i will give you a idea that when you give her those bitcoin you must be give her in front of her family members and tell everything why you give her that. I think all the member of her family will be happy and will pray for you.

It depends if you will teach him how to convert it into USDT if you will give him an as is bitcoin because most of the average person here are not knowledgeable about cryptocurrency. Isn't it awkward if you will still approach someone who already have a family and you said that you like her but it is not  bad to help someone that helped you when you're down.

Giving her bitcoin in return can be a good start for her to become knowledgeable about the existence of bitcoin in our environment.

There is no friendship between mand and woman.
Even under this axiom, giving such an amount of money to a woman, married or not, is inevitably change the balance of your "friendship".
Bad idea.
Don't.

It is true, that friendship does not have to always be associated with any material, especially with money, friendship is more focused on mutual understanding and does not need to be asked for but can understand everything that is expected as a friend.

That is a big amount, there is no one who will not want to take it although she doesn't know how bitcoin work.

So, this has happened right? I mean you have gave the bitcoin you had to her for a long time ago?

What happen to her now? He will be a rich man because she has 15 bitcoin. She can buy anything she want even a lamborghini.

She may think that you are in love with her. I just thought about it after reading your post. Maybe her husband thinks so too.

Forgiveness! Ignoring my previous comment if you make the gift in bitcoin it is because you own more bitcoin and you feel a deep gratitude for that woman you mention. Goodwill actions do not have a price, only God is in charge of giving us the riches and places us at the right time to share them.

Giving of 10-15 bitcoin is a big amount of money today but the thing is that if she is the one who helped you since you we're a little or a kid then probably it would be great if you will give also something that is worth it in which it may paid the things that she helped you since you were young. As like what you have been said, as long as you doesn't have any bad motive or agenda and you just want to express your thankfulness in helping you when you are just a kid then it would be good.

I mean why not, but 10-15 BTC is quite an amount actually.
If you live in my country, you're almost like giving millions to someone.
Maybe you could tone that amount a bit, but again it still depends on you because in reality I would not give that high of an amount.

There is still a part that you still helped yourself that she was able to help you when you were young, so still consider rewarding yourself. I wonder how big that help was though, OP.

10-15 bitcoins really? it will unbelievable gift at this moment you know based on bitcoin price it's expensive gift who get it. Surely he/his is such a close person to you that you are thinking of giving him such a big reward. your money so if you think someone deserve such gift from you so why not.
The amount of bitcoin in this gift is equal to or even more than half a million dollars, and honestly, unless they are my family members and understand the meaning of this gift, otherwise, I or even a lot of people here do not have the generosity to make such decisions, our money cannot be printed every day, giving a gift to someone who is only slightly intimate with such an amount, which is obviously silly. Personally, I think the creator of this theme was just trying to exaggerate and show a very fake generosity

10 - 15 BTC is definitely a big amount and it would definitely impact her life in someway. We cannot say if the impact would be good or bad.
10 - 15 BTC might not be a big deal for you but just imagine what if this amount created a bad impact in her life. Would you feel good knowing the fact that your gift ruined your favourite person's life ?
If you want to gift that person something then you shouldn't gift her money but instead do something for her that she will remember for lifetime.
Like send a paid vacation for their whole family or pay her children's school fees or find out if she is having some kind of problems in her life and try to solve them or something similar.

There's nothing wrong with that because you owe to that woman but I think it's only become worthy if you give them the readily converted amount of the bitcoin rather than giving the bitcoin itself it's already pandemic it's hard to earn money and again that woman does not too much interest with the bitcoin it's all gone and will be forgotten your give sooner because they don't know the bitcoin.
As long as there is no string attached that will be fine. I hope this never gives negative intention or that woman will think differently for such a huge surprise gift. Bitcoin is not a common gift, I don't receive any...so if there is someone who will give some of it, I have to accept it, and that for sure the woman won't decline such offer/gift if ever that really happens IRL. But be sure, he needs to clarify first the intention of sending it otherwise, one party will think as cheating... Grin

That would be a crazy idea but its a new and creative way to show love to someone you know and its also a new way to introduce Cryptocurrencies to someone. Its a positive energy but you should always be ready to face follow up questions regarding the gift since you are giving it to someone older than you and that would mean a lot of questions on how they can use it properly.

If there's no other ulterior motive behind it, then it's nothing for you to worry about. It's like a "Take it or leave it" situation but make sure to tell her your reason for gifting such a high-value asset to avoid misinterpretation. As long as it won't make you broke and its nothing different than cash gifts.

That's a very positive thing, but I just want to know if the lady knows what Bitcoin is? From performance to Bitcoin price? If the woman doesn't know at all, there is a chance that she will find out herself and then when she finds out that the price is so high, maybe she will sell everything. That would make the price of Bitcoin go down if you just sold without thinking. So my advice if that happens please before you give 10-15 Bitcoin, tell me the reason for giving it and how to use it so that Bitcoin assets can be used as long-term investment capital so that the price of bitcoin remains high and does not go down.
Haha I find it very interesting, in expressing feelings through Crypto assets.

If you have good financial conditions and 10-15 bitcoins are nothing to you, why not give 5 or 6 bitcoins to that woman as a friend and spend the rest to help people who really need it?
This is just an idea and you decide for your own money but in this case you have also given some bitcoins to your friend as a token of appreciation.
And you may be able to pray for 100 families by helping people who really need it. Smiley
That could really work, I mean 10 bitcoin is a lot of money when converted to fiat so giving back to the community isn't a bad idea but that is up to OP, whether he wants to do the charity or give it all to the friend as a token of gratitude.
You are right. If that woman does not know about bitcoin and having difficulty, maybe he can give money to her to use the money to survive and save the rest money. That will be useful for her because she will not have to worry about money. After all, he already has that money. If that woman knows about bitcoin, that will not be a problem for her to use bitcoin. But I guess that woman does not know about bitcoin.

Not a bad idea but you have to consider some factors working here. The most important factors are, Is she willing to handle BTC? Is she interested in that? Will she get benefit from that? Does she take permission from her husband? And which types of gift can make her happy? If you don't know all the answers then you can discuss them with her frankly. A very good piece of advice is don't try to make or keep any relationship with a married person, you can pray that The Almighty may make her happy and safe.

Though it is a very generous and kind move on your side, if you do this as a sudden surprise - she might freak out. Also, her husband may not feel very happy about that, it might look to him as if you're trying to buy her off with that money, even though it's not true. On the other hand, if you ask her opinion about this - she will most likely refuse to take it because it's huge money and many people just can't accept such things.
I think the best way to express gratitude is to help her financially rather than just give her the money. For instance, it would be perfect if she dreams of starting a business or something like that and you might invest in her. In my view, it's a win-win situation. She will be glad that you take interest in her self-development and help her with that, also this won't trigger a negative reaction from her husband, because this looks like an investment and help, which is ok. And most importantly, you will know that this money won't do her any harm, because these things happen frequently. Instead, you'll help the girl you like to pursue her dream.

You are a very generous person. Question really is if she is willing to accept the gift. Since it is like an asset and has big monetary value, she might take it the wrong way. Give her a physical gift first. Then give her the bitcoins once she is ready. Also talk to the Husband, he might take this in a wrong way but show to him that you are grateful of her help and you just want to give it all back as a token of gratitude.

Would it be totally crazy, if I gave 10-15 bitcoins to a woman, who helped me in a really really big way when I was younger.
I have several questions about it:
1. Are you sure to give that much money to someone else?
2. Does she know about BItcoin?
3. What is your real intention of giving her that much Bitcoins? It may be secret but the reason may become the exact thing why you should or shouldn't do it, just think again by yourself.
4. Do you both still become good friends? If yes, why don't you try to talk while joking regarding Bitcoin, and what if I give some bitcoin to you? You will see her expression at the time
5. he is married, so think also about her husband whether he will be jealous or not. or maybe he will be also very happy. But you must also tell the husband about your intention giving that super gift

Someone had to deserve a lot because he doubts that someone would just donate almost $ 1 million. Either you really have them for such a sum of money or it's someone very special ...
You can really tell that this someone is very special because you wont be giving out that big amounts if you dont really have those kind of treatment to someone special.

Its his money though and no matter how small or big that he would give into that woman then it wouldnt matter.Im surely that it would be accepted knowing that it is

really a big amount. Not to say that woman does really love money but who doesnt want on having almost dollars?

That's a lot of Bitcoin. With the Hugh price of Bitcoin now, I won't want to give out so much bitcoin because the price will be double of this in months.

Well, it still depends how this person is much close to you. Left for me, I won't be giving it out and that's cause I want to see how much my coin would be.
Well if you are not sincere in your gift giving then you might as well not give bitcoin as a gift, isn't that the point of gifting someone, it doesn't matter what will be its value today and tomorrow as long as it is a sincere thing for you to do.

Should be that way, if you really love giving the gift there's nothing to look upon, just give it and let the reciever to
decide to whatever he'll do about your gift.

The value is not important but the sincereness of the giver is what matter the most. Who knows maybe they'll learn
more about bitcoin and thank you deeply by giving them the opportunity.

Someone had to deserve a lot because he doubts that someone would just donate almost $ 1 million. Either you really have them for such a sum of money or it's someone very special ...

Giving back the goodness that she has done to you isn't being crazy but you should make sure that she knows how to access and use Bitcoin. Since she has a family, it will surely be a big help for her and, to be honest, that's already too much for her unless you already earned a lot. If you're having doubts, you can use your Bitcoins to help her in other ways like putting up a small business for her. Just think of wiser ways to help so it would be beneficial for her and her family in a long run.

Actually, I guess the idea is not really new and already discussed here in forum. The idea of giving bitcoins as gifts is really nice because if you give the bitcoins as gifts to someone who is not familiar with bitcoin, you can help them by giving some motivation to do some investigation about bitcoin. That's actually how I got familiar with bitcoin by receiving my first bitcoins as birthday gift from my girlfriend a few years ago.

That seems like quite a lot to give to someone regardless of what they did for you.  I mean hell, wouldn't she be pretty happy even if you just gave her one bitcoin?  It seems like to me you may have a crush on her still ( maybe I am wrong about this ), so wouldn't her husband be upset if you did so?  I dunno, I say give her one or two, not that many.

It is really crazy thing to me. Do you think about the current price of bitcoin? Obviously she will be surprised if you give her 10-15 btc at this time. It is a great way to gift financial thing by avoiding fiat currency. It sounds good and you can go for it. Good wishes for you!

Why must it be Bitcoin, there something called Utility, Usefulness and scale of Preference something might be useful but does not posses any utility to the person that you want to give. From the illustration you give you know her so well giving this bitcoin is it her pressing need or you want her to sell off the bitcoin to get whatsoever she needs or has a means of investment. Ponder on this

whats crazy with giving a gift ? i know its not christmas yet but you can also give gift for other occasions and in your case to give thanks ( thanks giving gift ? ) btc is money only in a digital form and 10 to 15 btc are big enough , no person on earth will ignore that . if im to ask , it was a big deal if i buy the coin cheap and ill gave them away today due to the present value btc have but maybe for you it was fine so go ahead  .
Well paying back to the person who helped you alot to go through the hardest time wasn't an obligation but it all depends on you especially when that person are not waiting for a return of its good deed. But actually giving bitcoin as a gift is such a wonderful gift to her and a very valuable gift but make sure that the person that you are giving a bitcoin knows how to exchange it in fiat in case  and also knows the uses of it.

Lol, 10 to 15 BTC is a lot of money. Doesn't matter if the coins weren't worth much when you got them, what matters is the current value. But if you really want to give her the money, then who are we to stop you. It's not weird, but kinda weird to see a random dude give like a shit ton of money out of no where.
The husband might be a bit shocked for a while, but trust me he won't care much as soon as he sees all those money (as long as her sweet little wife is very loyal to him).

For her to be not shocked, tell her that you bought it at a very low price that you don't mind giving it to her. As you said, she helped you a lot when you were young so tell it that you feel indebted because of that. I think you two are close or know each other for a long time so I don't think she will give it a deep meaning. If you still hesitating to give it that you think will affect your friendship, give it anonymously to her and see her reaction. If she feels scared that it is from a criminal then admit that it was you then tell her the reason.

That was my thought too, the only time that this will be weird is when you have an ulterior motive behind the gift, but otherwise, you can go ahead and gift it to her OP, if she really did help you a lot and you really want to gift her kindness.

If the help that you received back then was that useful for you then it is fine to show your appreciation of it with a gift, it is up to you how much you decide to give to her, just make sure the intention behind the gift is completely understood, as you say giving a gift to a woman could be interpreted as a sign of romantic interest, be clear with her about why you are giving her such a big gift, tell her that you really appreciate the help you were given back then and that it is just a sign of your friendship, if possible also talk with the husband present there so there is nothing being hidden from him, and finally also give them the chance to reject the gift and tell them they will owe you nothing if they accept it.

If you think giving the bitcoins to the girl is something that can immensely help her, then might as well go for it. You mentioned you have no hidden agenda anyway. In any case, just give her a good heads up ss to what bitcoin is so she knows what she's dealing with. You don't want your precious gift that literally costs a couple of hundred thousand dollars now just because she doesn't know a thing about bitcoin.
He should really explain because that gift wont be appreciated if the girl doesnt even know on whats the thing she hard received.People would normally not get interesting if something
he/she doesnt know so giving out some gift should really be ending up on appreciation or a surprise but if she's blank with it then dont expect about being happy or appreciation.
Explain with the basics and she will understand and might you convinced her to deal with crypto which is a good thing. Its a matter of interest though because
there are really people who arent really interested no matter how well you do introduce or explain to them.

If you have that amount and that you are also willing to give it, that was your decision and surely it appreciated more than enough. Nobody is expecting to have that reward even from a multi-millionaire. She saves your life and that she deserves something from you (and I will be doing that also). If that he knows about Bitcoin and knows the value of it, this could make a big change to her living. That surely she can't afford to reject it, though.

That's a very large amount giving 10-15 BTC, if it is distributed to people in my country it can make 10 people retire from their jobs. I say seriously
it is a very large amount to give to someone else who is not your family. In fact, it's your right as the owner of Bitcoin to give it to whoever you want.
But giving to a woman who is married and has children is not a wise thing to do, because maybe her husband is jealous, because it assumes you
have a hidden agenda. Maybe it will have a negative impact on you and the woman, if you give Bitcoin to the woman, don't just give Bitcoin to her,
but if possible to your other friends too. So it will not cause prejudice against you.

I believe giving a woman that kind of bitcoin is not a bad idea as far as she really worth it I believe she will definitely appreciate and I believe she will never forget you. But hope the really knows the value of bitcoin if she those not know it I don't really think she will value it if she won't value it is better you just sell the bitcoin and then give her cash I believe everybody will definitely appreciate cash everybody knows the value of cash compare to bitcoin somepeople don't really know about bitcoin must especially females.

There are people who say that they do not like the world of gambling, but they understand it in the literal sense, because in many cases some bet and do not know it, you are trying to do something that has an intrinsic random result.

It will be very difficult to show goodwill in your cause, unless she (or anyone) understands it, because they understand that your intention is based on the results of the good Samaritan that this person was.

Although sometimes a simple "thank you for helping me" is enough ... And don't forget to bring the seed.

Obviously crazy but with two ways. Like you will be the craziest person she has ever meet. And you will made a craziest thing she ever saw in her entire life. And she never forget your this crazyness. And you will be the lovely craziest person she had. But this craziness is not creat a awkward moment this creat a historical lovely moment. Just think someone you gave like a luxurious house and a lamborgini car. Then how it won't be craziness? How it won't be a craziest thing ever she had seen in her entire life. Buddy made this historical craziest thing. All the best.

I believe you're not crazy to want to give that huge amount of money out as gift. It shows how grateful you are for what she did for you. The problem might  be a wrong perception of your intention towards the giving. Since she's married, you might also have issues with the husband who might see the gesture as something else.
Now to the most important part. Even if the two problems listed above were by chance solved, you'd still be face with the problem of explaining to her what bitcoin is. Trust me, she wouldn't really value it if she doesn't know what it is. You'd also have to teach her how to use it and how to sell in case she needs to sell some and all.

This will easily be put into a bad light IMO if you haven't discussed it thoroughly with her and her partner. Most likely the partner will get jealous since you just instantly give his wife almost a million dollars because of your gratitude. I mean, they would gladly accept it, no doubt, but it may form a rift between the two considering that that's how male ego works most of the time.

Perhaps you can discuss everything up to the taxation and all the legal bounds of gifting such a huge sum to make it seem more formal and not really weird for them.

That is too much I think but it is still up to you and if you are so much rich than 10-15, BTC for you is just a piece of money then go for it, there is no wrong for giving gratitude to a person who is there at your worst. I am sure that her reaction will be good and she won't treat it as a negative one, you have both experiences together so there is no bad with giving a gift to her. Just also make sure that she also knows about bitcoin so things will go softly. Nowadays we need to be practical, money as a gift is not that person and I don't think that it will look offensive especially if the who will receive it is one of your friends.

There is no wrong in showing appreciation to the one who helps you in a big way or a serious matter, even though it happened a long ago. It is a bit crazy because 10-15 BTC is a huge amount of money and I think he would be really happy when she has received that kind of gift from a friend, I don't think that she might get offended by that gift because you are both friends. I am just curious how rich you are to the point that you can give 10-15 BTC in a person.

Just ask yourself first if you would be happy as well if you make it if there is no hesitation on you then give it to her, it would be good if you will wait for some good timing, just like a birthday, Christmas or new year.

Just make sure she is familar to bitcoin and know how to use it properly, so your coins won't be wasted.

I think the reaction will be positive, even because it looks important to you. To be offered a huge amount of money like this without counterpart doesn't happen often and frankly, money is never too much. There is always an use for it in someone's life.

I wish, but no, I don't have thousands, not even hundreds, but I do have some.

I am in the habit of not believing everything I read in the forums. To give 10-15 Bitcoins to a woman for helping me I should have at least 100 Bitcoins. Unless she had saved my life, in her case, maybe if I only had 16-20 Bitcoins I would be thinking about giving her 15 or 20. And much less my decision would depend on what they say in a forum.

So I don't believe the story.
You don't have to Smiley
She practically did save my life. Or maybe I would be alive, but life would be very different without her having done what she did.
Funny that for her, what she did, was not a big thing. For me it changed my life.
We don't know what relationships you two had, no idea about anything. None of us are closely related to you too. Anything from us does not actually matter at all. I hope you are adult enough and in that case talk to your close relatives. The amount you are saying is big enough to consult with some people who can give you good advice, and you trust them in your life.

Good luck bud.

Well it isn't going to be weird if you have no hidden agenda but you might consider how she is right now and her personality.
10-15 BTC is a huge money not everyone would just easily accept it and you she is already married with kids think about how the husband would react to it.
If you aren't close to the whole family then might as well just give a small amount that they could easily accept.

there seems to be some kind of flavor that you hold to the woman. so you are so kind to give a very large number of bitcoins, especially when viewed from the current price. Unless you are a bitcoin billionaire, maybe that's a normal thing.
but anything superfluous will have an effect even with good intentions. I'm not telling you to be a miser, just give to the right people and need it. For example, you donate to the poor who need it.

There is no limit to giving, but remember to be wise in giving to let you know how valuable your giver is to those in need.

It depends on how well she knows about bitcoin and how to use it. It may seem fascinating to you as a bitcoin holder to gift someone with bitcoins but could be more awkward for anyone to accept huge amount of bitcoins as a gift who doesn't have used bitcoin or doesn't have a good sense of its use. You could just exchange your coins and buy her a good car or a house or something you feel she'd be happy with. That would be a more practical solution.

As a woman, I would prefer to be given an item like a bag, jewelry, or a new car rather than Bitcoin, because women need capital to show off, although Bitcoin is expensive but we will definitely sell it for our needs and appearance. *a little advice from a woman 'lol'

If I have many bitcoins, I like to give my bitcoin to my family or friends but that will depend on how high the bitcoin price right now because if the price is at the current price, I think I will not give 1 bitcoin to them because that will be too big for them. I prefer to give the altcoin to them or give fiat money to them for something they need. If they can use it to buy bitcoin or altcoin, that will be up to them because that will be their decision. But if that is for my family, I will not hesitate to give them my bitcoin because I want to make my family and enjoy what I got.

In my point of view it would really depend on how she will take it, what I mean about that is she a person that needs the monetary assistance your Bitcoin will give or will she be more appreciative on receiving gifts that aren't exactly money? Because when you think about it when you say a "gift" you are looking at items and not money, on the other hand if we are talking about money you will always think about it as a donation and not as a gift. At least take this into consideration first if she needs the money or not as she might like having real gifts rather than money from you.
My thoughts are similar.
I am not even sure she would accept them. And she probably wont even need it that much. She has an university degree and has a "good" job. Same with her husband.
But maybe she could use them on her kids or something.

10-15 bitcoins are in today price: $567,900 - $851,700
Feel free to give it to anyone you like. Why so much hesitation :-P

Yeah, it will be a bit crazy but if you have a few thousand coins in your possession then it's peanut for you :-D

Let's be honest though. No matter how "weird" it may be, not sure anyone would look at you negatively if you gave that someone a huge chunk of money. While her husband might probably think weirdly of you, his brain is just going to be mostly "dude, free money".

Would it be totally crazy, if I gave 10-15 bitcoins to a woman, who helped me in a really really big way when I was younger.

There is nothing wrong with showing gratitude to someone who has been helpful to you, but I still think the amount could be a bit problematic, considering that as you say the woman is married and such a gesture can definitely be misinterpreted - especially if she has a very jealous husband Wink

I agree.

But there's a way to not be misinterpreted. OP can give it personally to the woman that helped him by going to their home, and talk to the husband as well about his intentions, and if it is not okay to the husband, then I think OP could show his gratitude secretly by helping them in a way that they'll think it's normal. Like giving their kids scholarship from middle school to college with allowances until they graduate or maybe OP could give them a house and lot by talking up to a real estate agent and the agent will say that they won it from somewhere. There's a lot of way to help to be honest.

But giving 10-15 Bitcoins to a woman if there's no problem with her husband would be a great thing to do especially if they are going to use it in a good way.

I assume she is not familiar enough with bitcoin and will find it hard to use, store or sell it. And also like people here said, that much money maybe will drive into something wrong in your relationship with her.
Why don't you use the money (that 15btc) as her kids scholarship? It would be very useful for their future.
The kids will never ever forget you when they grows up. Just like you, never forget her help.

10-15 bitcoin is such a HUGE amount of money tbh. And of course, i think she will gladly accept it, getting gifts is always nice, especially if it's given by good intention. But getting huge money as a gift? i bet anyone will be delighted.
As long as you want it, genuinely giving it to her, i'm sure she'll be happy, especially as you said that she's has done a lot of things for you.
But, make sure she understand about bitcoin, tell her about this and others in case she doesn't know about it yet. So she won't be confused since she won't know what to do with the gift.

Furthermore, you would have to explain to her what and how she will handle this BTC, and in case of sale she would have to pay taxes or prove that she received the BTC as a gift, which again mean that you have to identify yourself as the one who gave them and prove the origin of coins/money. Maybe it would be best to give her cash, so you and her would definitely avoid some of the complications that can arise from all of this.

I would gladly give them to her, but I fear it could have a negative effect to what little friendship we have

Money often connects people, but it also destroys families and makes enemies out of friends - I would be careful, not only for friendship, but also for your and her safety when it comes to so much money.

Lucius here raised a lot of valid concerns and issues imo.

Your willingness to show your gratitude does you honor and is something that is not so common nowadays : if I was you I would pay/buy them something they will appreciate but that you ( you and her family) should agree in advance.
First thing that comes to my mind, and that is of general appreciation, is a coupon for a vacation/holiday at a travel agency (you could purchase with BTC) : they may enjoy it all together ( minimizing the risk of jealousy but this is something you and her should deepen into) and it would avoid all the hassle of managing BTC for people completely unaware on howto.

If you like him and want to give him some Bitcoin, do not hesitate, but tell him everything, sometimes people do not know how you feel about them, it is good to say things, also it is not a crime or something bad what you think to do, of You will surely make his life happy, at least 1 only Bitcoin will make him happy. Maybe you will achieve something with her, it cannot be ruled out, everything is in the possibilities.

I think that you will have to basically ask her opinion on this.
Because it's not only about how she will react on this, it's also about how her husband will react on this.
Money and jealousy can change families completely, and not necessarily in a good way. Discuss with her.

Well, I would give if she can make good use of the coins. And you have to make sure she is worth that amount... so, that should be for people who can properly manage the money and wouldn't be too shocked when you hand it to to them. I have read stories of people who unexpectedly win huge prizes from betting and misuse the money or couldn't handle it.

If she doesn't really qualify by the above standard, I would split the money and share to more people.
