Hi I am just new here and I want to give merits to someone. How can I give merit?
Perhaps you think that merit similar to "like" in facebook of "upvote" in reddit or steemit which is free to give and no matter who is the giver. As most of the replies, just read their suggestion, but I see your intention to give merit is a good thing. Back to your intention further after you really understand with merit, how to receive it and the most important thing right now for your is having a lot to read and learn.

First of all, you cant because you have no merits to give. You need to have 2 merits to have 1 smerit which is a shareable merit which are the ones you would give away.

Merit is like another currency or money here in Bitcoin Talk. You have to earn it, this is not a like button that is ready to be pressed as your thoughts. Merits grows economically here. If someone earn it, s/he can gave it to someone. Then that person can give to someone as well. And this is how the circle goes, unless someone believes in HODL and end the economy by saving them. Although money might become useful by saving but merits don't. You lose the opportunity to use it if you don't give it to someone else within the time.
No, Merit aren't currency or money. It's wrong attitude. Only Merit buyers/sellers considering it as a currency Smiley. You can HODL your sMerit and don't give it to others, that's your choice. But Merit isn't a currency, so you can't benefit by holding it. You wont lose opportunity to send your sMerit because so far there are no such thing like Merit decay.

Thank you everyone. As you all can see, I already linked OP to a thread that explains everything about the merit system and he already thanked me.

Now you guys can stop bumping this thread with the same thing over and over again just to increase your post count.

THE THREAD HAS BEEN ANSWERED ALREADY.

Seconded

Thanks for this, was beginning to wonder what's going on!

If you have not earned any merits since you registered, the "+Merit" link at the right top of each post like image below is not shown.  Once you earn 2 Merits, you can send 1 sMerit to other user.

Merit can be earned from member who has merit in hand and a group of moderator who can give away merit from nothing, provided you have written an useful and constructive post then only deserve for it.

Hi I am just new here and I want to give merits to someone. How can I give merit?

For giving merit to someone, first you have to earn merit.Earning of every 2 merit, you will get 1 sendable merit (Smerit). That Smerit can be sent to anyone's post, which one you like.

next question, how can you get MERIT ??

There is no shortcut for that, you have to write knowledgeable post with  good English language to earn.

Your 15 posts out of 17 posts are related to the off topic and one liner, If you are continuing this, you will not get any Smerit.

Giving merit is according to the willingness of of the person whether he/she want to give it or not. But for me, If your posts are soo good and very informational to me, then I am so much willing to give you my merit.

You can't give merit to anyone if you haven't sMerit (Spendable merit) in your bitcointalk account. When you receive 2 merit from other bitcointalk members, You have 1 sMerit. You can spend that sMerit to any post. But I would recommend please spend that merit for high quality and good useful post. If you want to know more about merit, Please read this official thread Merit & new rank requirements

You have to receive merit, to send merits. Two merits you received you will be given one smerit or sendable merit.

You can't because you have no sMerits available.
