I do believe that this could've been the main reason for the spike in price we just experienced.

Such spike! So lol-atile!
I don't think this will be any kind of "spike" but it is good news and is an incremental step towards greater adoption of bitcon.

In fact they have a referral program with BitPay.

Not sure if it mkes any difference in terms of the global payments accepting BTC

Another step ahead of what mainstream can become.. every day you can purchase more and more things with bitcoin as today you can buy practically anything from internet.

Yeah, it's a very good thing to happen concerning the mainstream adoption. It's like a meta-money/payment-provider integrating also Bitcoin in its portfolio or services. This is a very big thing. The market didn't react very bullish, but it rarely does this to news nowadays!

I agree, the spike was pretty luke warm. But you gotta cut him some slack, I guess it was those news, too. And they are pretty pretty good! It seems though, that real trains simply not materialize currently. And the selling pressure is really high when dumpers see their chance of selling a large portion at once!

This is a kick-ass big thing! I mean, wow! A huge payments processor integrating a Bitcoin payment service provider! I guess they may even have tried to take it over directly, but I guess they don't wanna lose out on their big chance to get really really fat! Wow... I'm impressed!

you can now send bitcoins to BitPay, Bitpay will sell them and send dollars to GlobalPay, and GlobalPay will send the apprpriate national currency to merchants overseas.

is this correct? if yes, A huge crash soon! you know what happened after newegg/expedia/dell/.. things

Overstock news pushed us up pretty high, dell news still pushed us up $10 also

Merchant adoption is no sense a bad news, maybe in short term but sooner or later it will bring the adoption from buyers too, they will take their time to understand it . Merchants don't need to do much just setting up a bitpay acc/ is enough but the end user has to learn much more about the protocol and once they understand it will again spread like wild fire and mass adoption not by one merchant but thousand of buyers.

I do believe that this could've been the main reason for the spike in price we just experienced. Unfortunately, it's still rather timid and already went back down again. Just like with all those other good news over the last weeks and months, they don't really seem to be able to kickstart the market!

Those company's are in a testing fase, it can take 6-12 months before you see any real changes, this is good news and fuells the rocket even more.

Again a useless/failed comment from Fallling who still having a hard time to think big.

news = bitpay will just dump more BTC, good news = bad news

so with this and the announcement from visa that in the future they would see the option to process bitcoin payments, maybe at some point those networks will process both real and digital currency.
