Could you also get in trouble if they found it on your laptop as a tourist? Personally I would not risk any chance of being considered a spy in China.

VPN services are indeed under attack in China, and it's got a lot of people talking these days. GFW knows every VPN that many people use, and they can block them at any time they like. I currently have frootvpn but despite paying them a few bucks each month, I found out that they don't work in china. Are there any free vpns that work in China or ways that I can use frootvpn in china?
