What baffles me about gold tokens are lack of zero evidence, there is nothing to show that gold are really used to backed any tokens, anyone can use this fake word to hype any project, investors are now very smart with such use cases, they don't work anymore on people

Thanks for the really helpful advice. I will try to be more vigilant. I didn't even know that they could deceive me in this way. True, I am very much interested in investing in some kind of currency or jewel. In my opinion, it will be much more profitable if the money is set aside in the form of precious metals or precious collectible coins. Thus, the money invested in this type of product will only grow because the price of jewelry only grows over time. However, I cannot decide exactly what is better to invest in gold or silver. A friend advised me to find gold price predictions for next 5 years and see if it makes sense to invest in gold. Have you ever heard of people who predict the price of precious metals?

I do not know much about PGpay project. I have also come across many gold-backed crypto projects. But I am not sure whether they are really backed by gold or legit or are playing a scam just to cheat potential investors or bounty hunters. The trend of issuing coin backed gold is increasing after investors lose interest in ICO without any backing. So be vigilant.

Digital Gold is backed by gold, and Populous is releasing another coin that is backed by gold. PGpay claimed to be backed by gold, am campaigning for them while I keep tracks with their events as it progresses.

There are some projects that are purportedly backed by gold but you might be better off investing in Bitcoin which is considered "digital gold" and is definitely not a scam, and you can hedge using stablecoins or assets backed by other collateral such as this

Am also wondering anytime i come across such project that claims they are backed with real Gold how it is possible and how can one determine this to prove it's authenticity,  i am thinking most of this project claiming to be back up with gold are not legit, take JinbiToken as an example, everything is not clear with that project.
The Jinbi Token project has not yet paid the earned tokens to the participants of the bounty ICO campaigns, although the KYC check went back in November last year. However, the price of the token is very high. While there is not even information whether they are going to pay us tokens or this team can be considered fraudulent.
Let's hope that the PGPay team will not only prove to be workable, but will fulfill all its promises to the participants of the bounty campaigns. As for the availability of gold, this can be reliably verified only when this project really works. So far, everything looks normal.
There are also a few projects that already worked on the gold-backed crypto too. Jinbi was a scam since the team was doing so many shady things not only to the hunters but to all of the parties who have already participated on jinbi. No transparency and i believe jinbi is totally a fake project that failed to be manipulated by scammer. There is a possibility for KYC documents that have already send to be sold in the black market.
The teal question about crypto backed by gold should be where is the gold and how much? until there will be no transparency and proof about the reserved gold and the token that backed by the gold just a scam.

Crypto Gold coins would have take upper hands over other coins today if they are really genuine, it would have been a haven for investors because there will be trust and guarantee since they are backed by real gold but its all not so true

I think Xaurum started this trend three years ago https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/xaurum/  I remember participating on their signature campaign and this is one of my best campaign back 2017 where bounty campaign was so much different from the bounty campaign today, I don't know if there are coins, backed by gold before Xaurum.
I picked up interest in Xaurum since a couple of members stated that is one of the best gold backed coin. If it was backed by gold, the why has it's price plummeted in an abnormal way compared to gold.

Isn't a gold backed coin's price supposed to be synonymous with that of gold?

Currently the 24 hour volume is just about 15K USD

There are a few ones like DGX which i know are backed by pure 99.99% gold that are safely stored in secured vaults. However there are numerous of them out there that are scam and have not even been successful. Take a look at VEIAG etc. If you are looking for a real gold backed coin then i would advise you go for DGX.

There is one big problem, you have to trust the entity that they will really store the gold. It is something like gold vouchers, but built on the blockchain. It is easy to send it around the world, but you never know where the gold physically is. And it is very difficult to create similiar solution that is decentralized - probably impossible right?  Cry

I don't know if the PGPay project is backed up by gold, but what I see is that they guarantee bounty hunters using Eth's fees or sell their stake, to be sure to visit their exchange site or ask in their telegram group.
It's better for you to understand more about how tokpay works today. You has already made a non logic connection between gold as a commodity that backed the value of token with sell the stake use ethereum. Tokpay is a marketservice that makes you able to sell your stake from the bounty campaign into the ethereum. Please read more before try to comment about that.

what do you guys have to say about new projects that are backed by real gold? do you know any project that is legit and backed by real life Gold and not scam? any one have information about PGpay project?

What I know about this project was one of the group whose in promotion for cryptocurrency adoption. They're aiming for opportunity provision to every individuals, and I can't be confident that it would be really backed by real gold unless there's a substantial demands to prove it in the long run.

I have never been heard about pgpay. I just looked at the scam accusation section about having scam and found no results. Since the project is new, we will be able to give an idea in accordance with future developments.

I don't know whether PGPAY, Jinbi are backed by real gold. I don't trust 100% that any crypto is backed by physical gold. We should think it as a crypto not more than, if you think so, you can purchase real gold not any crypto in this context.

there are many crypto projects out there with real gold support, but I'm not sure to get that gold, if I want to exchange it from tokens to gold, I haven't seen any threads that say they succeeded in converting their crypto tokens to real gold, it seems rarely once or even nothing, just a fake endorsement, I worry about projects like this and sometimes stay away

The new projects are hardly what they advertise themselves to be, majority of them are just profiting from the hype of already existing project's with similar idea like the gold backed coins. It isn't that hard to established a project backed by real gold considering you have the gold in store. so for your question on that area I would say yes, we can have real projects that aren't scam based on the backed by gold ideology.

Came across this project [ANN] GOLD - First 100% Liquid Stablecoin Backed by Gold some few months ago when I promoted them through signature campaign, it looks legit although this is a stable coin and not the typical cryptocurrency that gives profits. This can be used as example of gold backed coins.

answering something more real and unrelated to the project here is a rumor that DECP will become a legal coin backed by gold by 2020. If 20k tons of Chinese gold reserves can make it happen, then this will truly be revolutionary and destructive overall USD dominance. https://bitcoinist.com/china-cryptocurrency-gold-backed-says-max-keiser/

I think it's not true, when they sell coin, developer get income from the range at ICO release, from there they will back up product to get market. If developer play in commodities it could be right but back up with gold that's funny. Coins is new product, not stable and has no law. Why take big risk if the can play using gold?

Gold is a very valuable thing and if any project is backed by real gold then too many work won't be required to make the project a success, it will have a very gold value but many crypto with gold backed are not performing at all
Projects that are supported by real gold will not raise funds in the long run, because they already have very valuable items, and if there are projects that are supported by gold but are not successful, then the projects are not genuine, and they are really not supported by gold.

1 million worth in USD of all gold.
What do you think you should do with that?
Will you really risk all of your commodities with a project that could erase them all?

Logic is what should come in first.
I won't believe it. For some reason people are still asking some foolish questions and I don't know why.
It will just be a scam at the end.

What ever you may think about their current legitimacy, they have a weak point because they are highly centralized to the vault that they are supposedly keeping gold. All these coins can be attacked by governments and shut down at any point.

The logic is very simple, if the project is supported by real gold, then it will not be difficult to succeed, because they already have valuable capital, well, if the projects are not successful but they are supported by gold, then it is not real gold, but only writing in their concept.

too many projects say they are backed up by real gold. but in fact it has no future and no real project. I am not sure that this is really real. they can make a perfect whitepaper and roadmap by including them in gold backups. but they don't have a real project that makes investors believe that. so I was not surprised.

Well for me there is a real project backed by gold if they own gold itself or have a particular partnership in a gold company. They need something to do with the coin or token and there is some gold backed coin i only don't know if they still exists like xaurum and dgd. Not lal are scams we have to be genuinely careful about what coin or token we are investing into.

I do not think that there is  really a coins that is backed by gold in 100% ratio.  There is some that claims that they were backed by gold but if you check them,  there is only a certain percentage of the whole supply that is backed by gold and not 100% of the coin supply.  I believe that anyone saying that their coin is backed by gold is lying since we cannot declare that a certain coin is backed by gold when only a small percentage of the supply is backed.

Are they real? Yes. The tokens on their blockchains are all tangible if you look at it that way.

There are a few interesting projects including Digixdao gold which I think have some potential. I remember that there was Xaurum back in the days as well although they've seemed to taper off quite a bit in their development.

In terms of legitimacy you need to question whether or not they're actually holding full reserves. That's the key, and nobody knows because most of the info is either private or the auditors aren't well known.

The problem with these sort of projects, where the coins are backed up with some other asset (USD in the case of Tether and gold in the case of Puregold PGT) is that you are not being able to store your wealth yourself. Here, someone else is holding the wealth (either as USD or as gold) for you. And this causes issues with trust, as we have seen in the case of Tether. There is hardly anything that you can do, in case the promoter suddenly vanishes one day and flees with all of your cash or gold.

I'm myself honestly never trust that kind of statement unless they are somehow already accredited and their reserved gold is audited so we know that they really have the gold or their total coin supply matches with the gold they said to have because honestly even if their price right now at the market pegged to gold and in ratio with gold it's just a market and no one really know whether the company that own the stablecoin have the real gold. So yeah, just try to observe first before buying it.

as far as I know, right now is digital GOLD. some people who joined the project said that it was a project that was backed up with real gold. they can also sell their coins at their local market for 1 coin for 1 gram of gold. I think if you look for crypto in backup with gold, it's worth researching. you can check the ann thread in here

Interesting, I saw concept of this before but they are all vague and suspicious. This one got a bounty campaign, I saw most of their signature across different boards especially here in forum. But can they cope up with the community suspicion of real back up by gold? Cause it still digital, even though called gold tokens. OP is about real gold, so still same.

I hope this is really backed by real gold. There are so many projects claiming that their tokens are backed by real gold. At the end of the day, there was no gold that actually backs their tokens. Does the team of this project show in some way that there is really a one is to one ratio of their token and their gold? Because if all that they have are words and no actual undeniable proof that they have this much gold as their tokens, then it is just like the rest of other projects.

That's probably full of lies. How it can be backed by Gold, crypto is known to be a decentralized in fashion, gold is a legit physicsl entity where it can actually be sold legally. Imagine, those projects telling the project is backed by gold, how can it be sure that it is backed by gold? Can I sell these tokens to pawnshop same like gold? I dont think so, even SEC scrutinizing these kind of project which involves gold on their project idea.

There may be real projects available in the crypto market that is backed by gold. But there's literally no way for us to know if they are genuine or not! Even for Xaurum project, no one can tell if they are real!

I've no idea that there are projects now that they say are backed by real gold and you're right that there's no way for us to confirm that.
I remember there was a gold scam here in our country few years ago. MLM style I may say. Too bad that there were a lot of people got fooled on it even those who work from other countries (OFW) who wanted to earn more money for their family. But just like most of the scams I know that comes and goes, no one got caught and was brought to prison.

Anyway, I'll keep an eye on these projects backed with real gold as they say. It most likely turns to scam afterward so hopefully everyone thinks about 100 times more before they invest their hard-earned money.

Actually the idea is good but I don't believe in projects that are backed by gold. Because indeed we do not know the existence of the gold is true or not. If only claiming backed up gold without proof is easy to say. Projects like this must require very large funds, so I am a little doubtful if there is a dev that says the project is backed up in gold and wants to open ico or ieo. If so, it means they really do not have sufficient funds before and only want to rely on funds from tokensale.

I do wish we could say for sure that some cryptocurrency are backed with gold. Most of the projects that make us to believe that they are backed by gold are not for real. Its only a deceptive tactics that is channelled on giving the project a good view in the eyes of the public and potential investors.

Hopefully the coin supported by real gold is not a scamm, I just found out lately there are many issues that are spread about coins that are supported by gold, as long as I have no alignment between cryptocurrency with gold. I do not know what happens if the coin is supported by gold because there is no mutualism between the two factors

I have not heard about that particular coin but in the past there have been too many coins that claimed to be backed by gold and nothing good has ever came out of them, to me that is nothing but a way to try to deceive people.

After all even if that was true then you will be relying on the developers holding as much gold as they state and that will always be the weak point of that coin, and if it is not true then you are investing in a scam, so regardless of whether the coin is backed by gold or not you are investing in a bad coin.

Unless the project has enough decent profit for explaining the 100% backed up altcoin, I will never put my money to that coin. Honestly all coins that are backed by real gold should be the most profitable coins on CMC today but all of them have no good value, the answer is not that hard to see, there is never a real gold involved here, its all lies

That is a good one. It might really be all lies.

Most likely not, but for sure there are some projects that backed some part of their tokens with Gold. But I can hardly imagine that a fresh ICO is able to back 100 million tokens with Gold even before the token sale launch.

Yes! If they have the money to buy all that gold why the hell do they need to waste much effort into making an ICO.
If I am the businessman then I would rather not. You will just pay up for another team then bounties then listing and a lot more.
I wouldn't go that far.
Oh and also, you will be noticed by the government into why the hell you have that lots of gold.  Grin

what do you guys have to say about new projects that are backed by real gold?
Up to now, there are quite a few projects that claim to be supported with real gold. However, I myself do not put too much faith in such projects, because we have no way to verify the reliability of the news that the project offers.
Coins backed by gold look no different from other coins, they can disappear and people will lose all their money.
If we like gold or oil, why not buy a stake in those companies?
If I have a project coin, how can I exchange it for real gold?

There are quite a few projects claiming that their currencies are backed by fiat or gold or oil, I can list some projects like Venezuelan petro that are backed by oil (however the coin This failed because it did not win investors' confidence.)
Another extremely successful currency in the market is USDT (this currency is supported by USD).
The most recent gold-backed coin I know of is the Gold Stablecoin, the YELLOW token used to buy gold and digital storage with anonymity.
You can go to their homepage to learn more: https://gold.storage/en/home
Currently GOLD Stablecoin has a huge bonus program in place, you can participate and help them advertise the project.

When I hear projects say that their tokens are backed with pure gold, I personally don't believe. Most of the projects in the past who claimed to be backed with gold went through the same fate as others who weren't backed with gold and their value dumped tremendously despite the fact that they were backed with gold.

I think XAURUM was first. They launched around 2015. They should have gold but. Why trust third party with your gold?  What is the point? You just rick when you will want your gold they will say fuck you and not deliver. Why risk if you dont need? You just go to gold store and buy some gold and that is it. Or some gold website. Most take Bitcoin and give you even discount when use Bitcoin.  Buying any real world backed cryptocurrencies is super dumb. Blockchain is to secure digital asset and not real world.

I don't know what the PGpay project is, which I know is no support for a real genuine product for digital. Like GOLD stablecoin They are just a digital currency and I think there is no support from real life.

I have looked at the project and the team a little bit, obviously I did not encounter any problem, but not as solid as it should be. So to survive in today's market, you need to be better than the old ones, but I did not come across anything that could keep project solid.

do you know any project that is legit and backed by real life Gold and not scam?

I don't know if there are coins, backed by gold before Xaurum.
If that was in 2017, I doubt it although I think I remember the concept of a gold backed crypto being discussed before that.

Anyway, I would be *very* careful about a project that purports to make a crypto asset that is backed by physical gold.  The basic problem is one of auditing the gold held by whoever is running the project.  That same problem has cropped up in other digital representations of gold, because those have existed before bitcoin came out.  I think there was something called Egold that sold shares, and there were a few others if I'm correct.

The other issue is that crypto doesn't need to be backed by anything.  Even fiat doesn't, so what would be the advantage of having a cryptocurrency pegged to some gold holdings?  I don't see the value in that.

gpay.  most likely a scam, and i dont even have to LOOK at it.  thats how low IQ this idea is lol
we have seen it many many times before, they are all scams, and even the ones that actually take some ICO money and buy gold to act legit, are garbage
we have BTC why the fuck would we need a gold backed crypto.  dumb as fuk the whole idea.  sure worked well on newbs i guess tho, those scammers made millions Sad

Gold backed fiat isn't even real so no I don't believe this. It doesn't actually need to be backed by actual gold since no one ever sees that. The gold is just there to backup the value but it is never used or touched. People don't exchange their cash for gold, nor do they need to. It's just a system of debt basically that is never-ending. That's actually how the economy works. It sounds very confusing because it is.

A better way to do this would be to have a gold jeweller and have the coins backed by the jeweller itself rather than the gold. So then you could go in and look at the gold since you own some of it depending on how many coins you own or you can buy some directly to take home it depends on the business model. I would like to think it works as shares do. Then your coins are not backed just by gold but by a company that specializes in gold and sells it at upmarket prices.

If a project that is backed by gold there should be independent auditing by a reputable auditor, they can show a video or certificate but if they are not coming from independent, auditor we can consider it useless, so far there are only a few stable coins backed by gold that are doing good in the market, and any new coin coming without transparency will not gain support.

Of the several projects that claim to be backed by gold, only Digital Gold has really provided real evidence and exists to date. I can't yet confirm whether PGpay is legit or not, I haven't studied it further, especially at this time there are a lot of realities that don't match expectations. Must be really seen in the field when it officially entered the market, a strong project, which he said based on the price of gold would require commitment and a good strategy from the developer to keep the price in the real gold price range. And it's quite difficult if done by shitprojects with low budgets. It's better to be careful, everything can end up drama in this saturated market.

Just view it this way, Gold backed projects are suppose to be self funded or launch IEO on top exchange like binance or huobi but still these projects that claimed to be backed by real gold still find it hard to raise funds, isn't that alarming???

There were projects that still made it to the market which were backed by gold. Populous project has a side chain project that were backed by gold which is the XAUp ERC1155 Pokens which I have no idea.  I've never seen anything like it but you can find its information on populous website https://populous.world/invoice-finance/what-are-gold-pokens.html

I have no doubts PPT is a legit project, there is no one yet had created a scam accusation about it though.

For the PGpay project, I see that their website is very convincing, but I don't know in the future whether they are really serious about running the project, so for that you have to be careful in choosing projects, but if you want to invest, it's better to choose which is already on the market just to avoid the risk of big loss for you.

I don't personally trust any of them as most of the doesn't seem to have an enough capital to start such a fund. I'd only believe the gold backed coins by popular crypto companies like Binance or Coinbase. I may sound like a biased person but I don't want to risk my money specially when I'm putting it into something stabler.

Can't say about all. I'd rather say most of them have no credibility at all. For a stablecoin to be backed by gold, they should have a fixed amount of gold locked up in some safe place which are not in total control of themselves. They should audit it with independent auditors and be insured by any real insurance company. Most of them don't satisfy any of these needs.

I can't say they are Scam! Because it depends on their own company, if they have strong funds, I think they will be fine, because they have to have gold in the project, if their gold runs out I don't know what going on with that project, are you going to invest there?

Very limited are projects that are really backed by gold and even those that are successful in ICO or IEO too, we have no way to know if they actually are backed by real gold, we are all humans and lying about things for money is in the blood

Its working for some projects like XAURUM, the issues arise about gold or real asset backed crypto is that its centralized. The old users in the forum had been discussing it which they learned that the gold reserved has to be regularly checked because it could happen that it may not be real. Its possible that the team is just deceiving investors also because they are the ones know only knew the situation and where the gold reserves are.

Personally, I don’t like coins that are secured by anything, because in any case, you will only have numbers in your personal account until the physical request for a secured product, be it dollars, diamonds or gold.
For example, if the project responsible for providing closes the tax or other regulatory structures, you will only have the numbers in your personal account, if it still works.

Am also wondering anytime i come across such project that claims they are backed with real Gold how it is possible and how can one determine this to prove it's authenticity,  i am thinking most of this project claiming to be back up with gold are not legit, take JinbiToken as an example, everything is not clear with that project.

This is actually not the first gold-backed cryptocurrency project. Many have come and go. I think only few exist today.

In my opinion, a Crypto project has to be well decentralized or under some sort of government regulations otherwise it is scam or potential scam. But if by scam you mean the project is not profitable short-term, then I don't know about that.
The best thing to do is to research into project and make sure all claims are true. https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/bounty-reward-in-eth-usdc-tkp-pgpay-gold-backed-token-pgpay-ended-5206043

Here's what you should do to test whether a token really backed by gold or just a "possible" scam.
(1) Search on the website about how to convert x number of token into x grams of gold.
(2) Try to convert a small number of tokens (1) and test the gold (that has been given to you) in a reputable gold store.
(3) If (2) is real gold, then the business could be legit.
(4) How about if they suddenly disappear? Then you should use regulated gold dealers with a good reputation only, to minimize this kind of risk.

Or, just buy physical gold.

There may be real projects available in the crypto market that is backed by gold. But there's literally no way for us to know if they are genuine or not! Even for Xaurum project, no one can tell if they are real!

Same goes for PGpay as well! Their website may not look very professional like other pro websites but the looks can be deceiving. There's no way anyone is going to confirm you about it! The challenge is not whether the tokens are backed by gold or not but the important part is credibility. Their office address is nowhere mentioned! Neither any credible audit company is appointed! So take your own call!

I do not know about the PGpay project whether this is supported by real gold or not because I have never participated in the project.
But there is a Digital Gold (GOLD) project that is supported by 99.99% real physical gold https://gold.storage/en/audits and you can check it there, I'm honest this is true real gold based on ethereum smart contracts.
