Interesting story... I traveled to Ghana for work about 1 year ago. I asked around and it is actually quite possible to buy gold below spot.  Yes even 15% below spot.  However, this runs into some issues:

#1 I am an American and would have to declare any purchase above a certain dollar amount.  I don't mind this, but the duty will quickly eat up some of the cost savings.  The guy I was talking to said I could make it into jewelry and then not declare (which is technically illegal, but I guess harder to get caught).

#2 The guys that offer a good discount want to move a large amount of gold (1 Kilo).

#3 I would venture a guess that the ones doing this are mining illegally in their country.  From what I read, China is doing a lot of illegal mining in some countries with the government looking the other way (80% of my flight from Egypt to Ghana was made up of Chinese visitors).  Additionally, state permitted mines likely have a good source to sell the gold to.  I suspect the ones looking to foreigners to sell to are trying to bypass some regulation/taxes, etc.  I even believe some countries put restrictions in gold outflow.

Finally, it could be a scam for sure.  However, even if not a scam, I would be cautious, as I said I looked into it while in Ghana and felt there was too much risk and people not playing by the rules, etc.

If anyone is seriously interested in buying from Africa, do a lot of research before sending any money.

Yeah, there has to be some sort of catch to it.

To me OP is likely trying to outright scam - these dealings seem to happen quite locally and if they could ship the gold freely across the world then there is virtually no need for anyone to be selling this at a discount.

For anyone interested, you should go into the deal with the expectation you are dealing with a conman. It's too fishy to be true imho.

Hello, I am interested in purchasing some gold. Please pm me with more proof of you having the gold/the operations you are running. I would be happy to coordinate some sort of shipping procedure if we do come to a deal.

No crucial information is specified and there is no type of evidence that this gold is in OP possession.
Indeed we know that he is not in possession because he works as an intermediary, so he could in turn be fooled ...

There is the risk to receive a nice terracotta brick and not a brick of gold.

Buying gold with bitcoin payment in such a situation is really a very high risk procedure!
15% as discount from spot price seems to good to be true... in general .... I would say:

The entire thread looks like a silly scam attempt. Duno why so many people replied here.

I don't know how it works in any particular country, but in many places you won't be able to use this gold. Even if you buy some and say you found it then you could only sell it for the part of the market price.
Physical gold is only useful for investments when you have it as bar with some national stamp on it (but any scratch would decrease its price).

Rough gold is not sold like this.

Probably a mine in the conflict zone, those areas have been banned from gold selling, they are either under some rebel controls or militias or even some corrupt army officers.

Bloody diamonds and bloody gold, a sad story that is one of the hallmarks of some African countries. Although I posted a link showing that many people are privately searching for gold, they are probably selling it to local powerful people below cost, and they are then looking for ways to sell it illegally.

I can only say that I am sorry that one continent so rich in valuable raw materials, including gold and diamonds, still does not allow its people to live lives worthy of man.

How is the gold going to end up in Dubai if the owners of the gold are blacklisted? You think it's a matter of moving it through a thin air without any form of proper documentation?  Roll Eyes

You're not going to like the answer! There are ways!

Anyhow, a user interested in buying LB accounts, an email that has been blacklisted with a Kenyan Ip address, a story about a village in Congo, a huge discount, readiness to meet everywhere, yeah, nothing fishy at all and nothing that might land you in jail.

If someone is on the UN blacklist, then there must be some reason for it, maybe the problem is in the exploitation of labor, the abuse of children in mining? I have done little research on gold mining in the DRC, and thousands of people seem to be doing it privately, and their health is being damaged, as well as causing considerable damage to the environment.

I know this because some moron tried a scam ICO with a gold back coin showing pictures from mines in Congo.

Hey @Blacklist,
you might aswell want to mention how much gold you are willing to sell and how much a buyer should buy as a minimum (1oz ? 10oz ?) and maybe also a maximum if someone is interested in buying large amounts.

I represent a group of local village gold miners from Dr Congo in Africa. They are asking to sell their gold in exchange for bitcoin,The reason is that some people have been blacklisted by the UN financial system. The gold is 23 karats with a purity of 96%. They are willing to offer a discount of 15% below the London Metal exchange price. The payment of the gold shall be made at the refinery of the buyers choice after an assay report has been produced. If interested please email me on [email protected]
Bitcoin is a safest and easiest way to make payment. How would someone get the gold from Africa? different regions have different rules and process. Is it really safe to make that investment. Thank you for sharing the info though!

So basically you're going to have clients near on your place or someone online?

I don't know if it's safe to ship gold from those countries (Africa) as the sender place where gold smuggling is common. So it will in danger the receiver too.
