Looking forward to this, I will watch this thread closely.

I am amazed by the length of the experiment - 6 years!

Good luck...

I have discussed Bitcoin and LTC with my brother and he is going to add them to his investment portfolio - I thought it would be interesting to keep track here month on month his progress and current prices for them.
He is going to start with £5000 (At the current time of writing the exchange rate to USD is approx $7400) and grow this by £50 per week investing 20% equally in the above. By the end of the 6 years he will have invested a total of £8600.

Will be interesting to see what the value is at the end of it. He realises the risks with BTC and LTC that it could either go to the moon or be worthless in 6 years time so he has added the cavet that if at any time all of his investment equals enough to buy a medium sized home (Current price at time of writing = £165,000) he will cash out everything. Whilst this is extremely unlikely with gold/platinum/silver unless we have a huge global economic meltdown in which case I doubt it would be enough to buy a medium sized home anyway - it may be possible with BTC or LTC - would mean that BTC or LTC has to appreciate just over 100 times from the current price of £32 to £3200 with BTC and from 46p to £46 each at any point within the next 6 years.

I personally do not think it will not go anywhere near that high but I know some people who disagree with me - either way will be interesting to keep track and see what happens in the end, he is not risking much by investing in BTC/LTC (£3440 total) so it is a level where he can afford to lose it should it be worthless, but also has the potential to be worth significantly more.

He is going to be purchasing the initial investment over the next 3 months and then running the experiment from June 2013 to June 2019

I would like to know what everyone else thinks about this strategy, if there is something he can improve on before he starts and what everyone else thinks will happen.
