This is the best of news on Bitcoin, at least those persons who don't support Bitcoin can now see that it has put into the  world guineas book of record. This is a great achievement by Satoshi and other bitcoin users, people believes that anything written in the Guinness book of record is easy to access and is the fact. Countries and individuals who are yet to start using bitcoin can now have the confidence in Bitcoin as the Guinness book of record has let them know that Bitcoin is real and has now been into use by people so far. Bitcoin has come to stay in order to help us overcome financial freedom, so nobody or government can stop it from my own perspective, Guinness book of record has just giving an awareness of bitcoin to the world.

The Guinness World Records is very good publicity for Bitcoin and a added value is that it is positive publicity. In a world that are dominated by FUD, some positive news will boost Bitcoin's reputation.

It gives Bitcoin some legitimacy and it also highlights some aspects that puts it head and shoulders above other shitcoins. Also, the fact that it puts the history of the coin in some perspective, because some people like to "change" the history to suite their agenda.  Roll Eyes

Finally bitcoin has come to stay for those who are still doubting it, anyone who know world record knows that it is not gotten easily. I am very happy to hear this good news.
This honor deserves to be given to satoshi as the creator of bitcoin for the first time, with the recording of bitcoin in the world record book automatically indicating that bitcoin is one of the miracles created by a genius for convenience for mankind in the modern era, with the recording of bitcoin of course this will be a pretty heavy blow for people who have been spreading negative sentiments or even for those who already hate bitcoin.

Guinness World Records lists Bitcoin as the right decision. Bitcoin will remain the sole pioneer in the blockchain world in the future and that is something we should celebrate. Gradually the world recognized the existence of bitcoin which played an important role in the development of the blockchain industry. El Salvador, the name of the country that is registered as a Bitcoin adopter has a legal tender to be recognized and it will be history how the world will respect the decision to adopt Bitcoin.

It's worth pointing out that every 10 minutes on average a new record is always being created by Bitcoin: The largest blockchain in the world, from Genesis in 2009 until the last block.

Regardless of it not being the sole addition, I still enjoyed seeing it in GWR but the person who's responsible for publishing it, didn't bother to check multiple sources:

Archived version of First decentralized cryptocurrency
  • e.g.
    • In the first paragraph, it stated that the whitepaper was published on 18 August 2008, but that's actually the date for registering bitcoin.org!
    • In the third paragraph, they put nodes and miners in the same category, but we all know there's a big difference between the two!

It is a well deserved recognition. As the pace setter in the blockchain industry, it should not have been less than that. Bitcoin is the first blockchain and so therefore it is not coming as a surprise for the Guinness World Record to have recognized it. So far, Bitcoin has paved way for other blockchain and Crypto currency which has blossom and made people in the industry. It has made men and created fortune for many. It has alleviated people from poverty to riches as early adopters and investors in the industry. Bitcoin made way for the blockchain economy to thrive leading to many Crypto industry oriented projects and jobs.  As a result, there have been series of attacks on blockchain and Crypto currencies globally because of its achievement and advancements. At all costs, government wants to regulate and control Bitcoin because of the impact it is making in the world as a whole.

At least it will be good start for those who always feared of investing into it and had fear that it could be a ponzi or some other sort of financial scam. Because entering into that book gives it a official statement for it's existence and thus it can serve as positive hope for those who never entered for the reasons I already stated above.

If you checkout the news hubs, then bitcoin and crypto are always trending topics. There are always positive talks and the ratio of positive to neg is always on positive side.

Slowly bitcoin/crypto space will rule the minds and later the world! Congrats to crypto for the record.

Nothing can stop bitcoin now
Maybe this can make new adoption for other countries but in another side, the big country that has strong fiat will be very careful to avoid bitcoin to be dominated in the world. this is like a double-edged sword for bitcoin, we'll see more and more people sneer at bitcoin, and this make more people know, and make more hatter and lovers.

Don't worry about people who scorn Bitcoin and also people who hate Bitcoin, because maybe they will really like Bitcoin when they really know it in more detail. Bitcoin will still be good and when there are some countries that try to adopt Bitcoin for certain things, then in fact it will be an example for other countries even though there are countries whose fiat currency is still very strong, but that country can also see examples in some countries that have fully adopted Bitcoin.

I suspect bitcoin haters, they really hate it for the inconclusive reasons they give or because they feel they have missed something and they think they've lost to pioneers like us. I think they understand BTC very well and they are afraid that if bitcoin becomes more and more popular and powerful, their status and reputation will no longer be different from ours, they don't want an equal gender. That's why they hate it, not because they don't understand it, IMO.

For countries with strong fiat like the US, I don't expect them to accept bitcoin as a fiat alternative, that's too vague. I just hope they accept it as legal and bitcoin will be used in tandem with fiat.

As long as Bitcoin exists, there will be Bitcoin hatter. But in the countries that have accepted Bitcoin long ago, there are less hatter and in the countries that are new or not yet banned, everyone is afraid to use Bitcoin and has a negative opinion about Bitcoin.

This recognition is good for bitcoin but they should have replaced the title and make it something better and more recognizable. This is a slap to the faces of those people that have been against to bitcoin and haters of it. They're aware that nobody owns the entire bitcoin blockchain while Guinness recognizes it for its purpose.

As long as it gives Bitcoin more publicity, I am happy for it. But overall, I don't think it's a big deal.
We should just be happy that there's Guinness that have included bitcoin on its book. It may not be a big deal for you and for the others, that's okay. As you have said, this is actually good for its publicity.

Guinness World Records is a famous thing but not something that matters much. There are all sorts of silly records there, and AFAIK it's not hard to get into it if you come up with something that hasn't been done before or manage to beat the previous record. I also don't like the name of the category, "Cryptomania". Bitcoin is more than just something people are obsessed with, it's not just another weird thing.
As long as it gives Bitcoin more publicity, I am happy for it. But overall, I don't think it's a big deal.

I always celebrate any good news that I hear about Bitcoin regardless of how small or irrelevant it is. This is because these little feats can be used as means of publicity. And publicity and advertisement are what the Bitcoin space currently needs. There are still many locations that have not heard of or felt the impact of Bitcoin. The Guinness World Book of Records might be insignificant to us because we have a deeper knowledge of its operations but it might mean a lot to some people. This news has the tendency of attracting many people to the Bitcoin space.

I think I have to let more people know about this. Getting the picture of the award and posting it on social media wouldn't be a bad idea.

It's a good day for bitcoin today. Each bitcoin win should be celebrated because it was a victory against naysayers, haters, and those who wants bitcoin to die. Today, Guinness World Records have added Bitcoin and other blockchain events in its latest record book under a brand-new category called “Cryptomania". Bitcoin was included in the 2023 edition as the most valuable crypto with a market capitalization of $816.69 billion as well as being recognised for being the world’s first decentralised cryptocurrency after it launched in early 2009. CoinMarketCap reports that, Bitcoin’s market cap stood at $372,316,153,554. In addition, El Salvador also features in the book as the “first country to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender” last year.  Nothing can stop bitcoin now

Good news indeed and well deserved too and even with all this great approvement and accreditations, we would still have people doubting whether Bitcoin is something you should get involved in.
As regards El Salvador, we have always said that was a good move by the president too even though it all seems like Bitcoin price has been taking a hit after their adoption, well, now also recognized and the first to do so. 13 years is still very early for Bitcoin and I believe that there will be a big adoption in future.

Bitcoin had come to stay so it popularity is very much sure. For bitcoin to enter the Guinness World
book of Records then that means BTC has broken the chains in which people are saying that bitcoin will not last or if bitcoin fall or stopped like LUNA. All the thinkings of people are gone therefore, the bitcoiners need to be celebrating the good development. World bitcoin celebration day will be map out very soon to celebrate the giant of Cryptocurrencies bitcoin. The next thing to do by bitcoiners is the sensitization of bitcoin to all corner of the localities. Guinness world of record is a prestige book where sensitive things are kept.
Once again thank you for bringing this good news.
Nice expression! But strangely, this doesn't come to me as a surprise though it is a welcome development. I don't know why it took the actors and deciders of the Guinness world records this long to bestow the award on Bitcoin. It is what I see as long overdue, there is no controversy here, it's much deserving. However, it is to the shame of the anti-Bitcoin people and countries, it is a matter of time before they would be forced to adopt it to the fullest. Else, they will miss out.

The marketcap figure is not correct if we know there are many bitcoins have been lost since 2009 and very most likely those bitcoins won't be recovered.

We can not know the exact number of lost bitcoins so that we can not calculate the absolute marketcap of total bitcoins left in circulating supply. Anyway it is still good to have a rough number for Bitcoin marketcap as it somewhat shows how big or small Bitcoin is in cryptocurrency market as well as in a comparison with other markets.

I don't mind about records, Guinness World Record for Bitcoin or cryptocurrency but in reality it is not harmful but helpful to spread Bitcoin news to more people. And it is a part of Bitcoin adoption journey that is long and has lot of things to achieve.
Certainly these type of things will help to boost the adoption of bitcoin like we all know there is good recognition of guiness world records and they have added another category cryptomania in which btc will always lead as top crypto. So more people become familiar about it through these things.

Speaking about lost coins then there are some reports saying 4 million coins lost but in actual we don't know the exact number and there can be more or less in future but circulation supply will never be 21 million coins due to these people who have lost their coins but as said they will boost up the prices more with rising demand.

More likely that would gonna happen because right now they already started the records and they will gonna catch other records as well. They won't lose anything when they record this stuff rather they really making something new in their books because honestly, people are getting bored reading those new records that are not really necessary to be recorded like for example the fastest man to wear multiple underwear or something like that.
When newspapers and social media have more news, tweets, statuses about records for Bitcoin, we will have more noise globally. At the global extent, we will see more potential Bitcoiners be exposed to Bitcoin news and sooner or later, part of them will actually become Bitcoiners.

It is a magic natural transformation from non-Bitcoiners to real Bitcoiners. After the years (more than 1 decade), and with recent increasing adoption, more applications, more stores, merchants which accept Bitcoin, we will see the progress becomes faster. It was heated up year by year and now it has been blossoming.

Quote
This time, it is educational and seems they are a trusted source of news, more people will be recruited to find out about bitcoins and the crypto industry itself.
Education is important and globally we are witnessing many educational efforts to bring Bitcoin to the crowd. From universities, colleges to communities, officially and unofficially educational initiatives are hosted in different geo locations.

Very big WIN for Bitcoin and for the community too. Without the community, this will not happen. I believe that this event will also trigger some other events and spread good words about Bitcoin. Natural advertisement.

Such a huge milestone and a well deserving achievement for the number one coin in the crypto space. 13 years ago nobody would have thought btc would make history and be in world record, but here we are after a decade btc already left its prints on the Guinness world record.
It is just a matter of time before that so desired adoption will take effect.

It will take some time, for sure.

For something so transformational like Bitcoin, you need more than a decade to actually change society.

But it will change, eventually.

Just like now everyone uses a smartphone, in the future most people will use Bitcoin. Lightning is the beginning of this new world.

I mean not anyone knows about it, but probably majority is looking for records and so for sure they might encounter bitcoin in the books and open their curiosity about it. And maybe who knows, those curiosity will become a trader and investor. And it's good that Guinnes is recognizing bitcoin and putting a new category and for sure there will be some be included like in the altcoin markets in the list. There are lies, damned lies and statistics. MTwain
This recent record hasn’t made it to the records listed on the Guiness World Records site yet, but searching for all records that mention bitcoin, I’ve come across the following:

Largest bitcoin fraud (*)
First commercial Bitcoin transaction (*)
First Bitcoin Transaction
First Minecraft server with a bitcoin economy
First country to adopt bitcoin as legal tender
Most valuable cryptocurrency
Oldest Cryptocurrency
First cryptocurrency Exchange (*)
First blockchain
Largest cryptocurrency hack
First decentralized cryptocurrency
First seizure of cryptocurrency
First NFT
Largest cryptocurrency winning jackpot in an online poker tournament
Most expensive NTF artwork (limited edition)
Largest seizure of cryptocurrency
Most valuable sports club NTF

Though bitcoin is mentioned somewhere in the descriptive text of each record, a few of them are not really bitcoin related (I’ve left them there so we van see the reference to bitcoin regardless).

Some of those records seem a bit far-fetched (too thinly categorized), and I’d place a few as curiosities rather than meaningful records, but what the hell …

(*) These make a reference to Bitcointalk in their associated text description.

I think it has become a phenomenon these days when there is more and more attention, interest in bitcoin. In my country, a few years ago, a lot of people didn't know about bitcoin or they would ignore it when they heard about it because ponzi projects are created and used bitcoin as an investment vehicle. But now things are different, when the government media start talking about bitcoin as an advanced technology, people are showing great interest in bitcoin, even farmers and street vendors started hearing and asking about bitcoin. My prediction is just one more bull season, bitcoin will gain worldwide popularity, bitcoin haters' efforts to stop bitcoin will have to stop soon.

El-Savador has already make it into record as well either by Guinness or any other organizations enlistment for records, being the first country to make bitcoin a legal tender, first bitcoin beach and first bitcoin tourist attraction country, alot has to be set into historical record and be archived concerning bitcoin in general, Guinness actually is well known for keeping and setting records of a global standards and I think they've got another big catch this time with the inclusion of bitcoin into their world Guinness book of records.

Of course, this is some kind of good news. But aside from the recognition, I don't think this amounts to so much. After all, Guinness World Records is just a book of records. It lists both good and bad, everything in a neutral way, including even the longest fart.

It doesn't vouch for Bitcoin or any other. It doesn't say Bitcoin is good. It doesn't say Bitcoin has huge potential or has a bright future. Bitcoin is there, of course, not because of anything else but simply because it is the first and then it has the largest market cap. Aside from Bitcoin, NFTs and fan tokens also made it to the latest book release.

Yes, Bitcoin will continue improving until the whole world make it legal for people to know how important Bitcoin is to humanity. I think, El Salvador are doing well in the areas of economy, infrastructures, education in their land, because they made Bitcoin legal in their country for their citizens to enjoy. Since El Salvador was the first country that adopted Bitcoin, it has attracted other countries to make Bitcoin legal in their land so that it will help them to eliminate delay in transaction, eliminate unemployment, eliminate errors from their economy so that they will be part of the good news Bitcoin is doing to countries that made it legalized.

I wouldn't have guessed that bitcoin would make it into the Guinness Book of World Records, but the market cap makes sense.

The marketcap figure is not correct if we know there are many bitcoins have been lost since 2009 and very most likely those bitcoins won't be recovered.

We can not know the exact number of lost bitcoins so that we can not calculate the absolute marketcap of total bitcoins left in circulating supply.

In any case, the market cap is an indicative figure because, for example, at today's price, all the bitcoins could be sold for around 20,000 USD, but if a whale puts a large quantity of bitcoins on sale, the price would fall, so the market cap would be lower.

Anyway it is still good to have a rough number for Bitcoin marketcap as it somewhat shows how big or small Bitcoin is in cryptocurrency market as well as in a comparison with other markets.

I agree.

Wow...this is a big good news for Bitcoin and the people/community who continue supporting the King of all cryptos. Getting into Guinness adds more credibility and recognition to the original cryptocurrency which many people think should have no place in our society...but contrary to their wish Bitcoin is getting more and more accolades as time goes on. I am sure that 2023 will be another banner year for Bitcoin in terms of getting more into the mainstream, recognition and acceptance especially from those who thought that this is just another joke...and hopefully next year it will also be rising in value reaching a new ATH if possible.

We must be proud that Bitcoin is recognized as "the first decentralized crypto" by Guinness world records.
It proves that people already think that Bitcoin is already something important in our life, haters have no chance to claim Bitcoin will be over soon. I just can't wait for another record to achieve by Bitcoin once it becomes the first crypto to be legally accepted as a means of payment in all countries in the world.  Wink

Regarding El Salvador, they deserve to call "the first country to become a pioneer for crypto massive adoption in the future".

Well said....all through the long run, there have been alot of obstacles but, atleast -- I know that Bitcoin's achievement over time, added to the world Guinness record doesn't make too much diversified sense - from its current state -- but that will be a good wall of Fame for an elevation, prolly, overtime.

It shows its prowess, providence and stability (not in terms of the the market structure, cus that's absolutely volatile) but in terms of steadiness and dependency; alot have left their wealth in here, as a store of value and -- apart from some appreciation or depreciation, nothing changed. It deserves even more accolades.
Well, that's just the beginning of the trail- line.

It was hoped that this move, which was condemned by the World Bank, would reduce the cost of international transfers — an important consideration for a country that is reliant on money sent home by workers overseas.

I think this is going to be one of the most important aspects when thinking about countries adopting Bitcoin as legal tender.

Poorer countries spend lots of money in fees paid to overseas companies just to let them move their money.

With Bitcoin they can transfer money worldwide with minimum fees. This is truly a game changer.

The problem is, of course, those companies don't want Bitcoin to be adopted in those countries. So they'll do anything they can to stop it.

They can't stop Bitcoin itself, so they try to convince people that Bitcoin is bad.

It's great to see El Salvador to make this huge step forward.

Others already started following, like the Central African Republic.

Bitcoin into the Guinness World Records adds value. Having a separate category can add more technology based innovation to the category. In the future we can see Guinness World Records being added to the blockchain, so that no data manipulation takes place.

The best part is El Salvador getting into the Guinness World Records book as the first nation to adopt bitcoin as legal tender.
