God i miss the good ol' times when you open the graph in the morning and price can twice (or half) it was last night. I even miss the "China bans bitcoin, episode 17" times, with all the crazy dumps.

Nowadays even the 20$ jump considered "huge".

haha i remember waking up and seeing china has banned and unbanned bitcoin 3 times overnight

those were the times.

Those are nice charts.  I thought the defeat of the bearwhale at 300 (in Oct?) would set a new bottom, but no luck.  I am still optimistic about bitcoin, but seriously doubt that boom times of the run up to 1000 will be back any time soon.

I hope I'm wrong, and that the title of your thread is right on!

Good Luck!

you're not wrong. it's actually nice to see that there are still realistic people here that look at facts, instead of living in a fantasy world regarding the bitcoin price. we just need patience. that's all. $1000 is a matter of years before we see it again.

The USD will crash this year before september 23. Bitcoin should be well over 1000 by october 2015.

if usd crash bitcoin will be over 10k in no time not just over 1k, and usd will not crash anytime soon, so i don't know what you are talking about with that random september 23

all these september 2015 usd crash predictions are not based on anything substantial, just some website warnings.
If you look back to 1990, 2009, 2010, 2013-there were even more dire predictions that never panned out.
With commodities in a deep funk (oil, gold, etc hitting new lows), I just don't see how it could happen in such short time frame.

There's no point speculating about timescales regarding profit taking. Anybody who is serious about bitcoin & its future just needs to buy & HODL, just keep accumulating & HODL for years & years.

The day of glorious prices will come, just HODL & be very patient. We need to be willing to wait for maybe even 10-15 years. It might be the best thing you ever do. 100,000 USD bitcoins await us fellow financial pioneers Grin

what makes you think the us dollar will crash? what you say just doesn't make any sense. if you believe yourself then go buy a huge load of coins right now and sell them in oktober this year.  Wink

WINTER IS COMING...

...s/WINTER/MOON/  Wink

WINTER 2013 ROUND 2 ANYONE?Huh

I would be absolutely ecstatic if Bitcoin does what it did at the end of 2013 at the end of this year, and magnified to the scale it is today in comparison to two years ago. If things really do happen in cycles, let's hope Bitcoin runs on a two year cycle Tongue

PS: BTC is and always was something you were supposed to trade and not blindly HODL IMHO. As in trading = buying and holding when expecting an uptrend, not being afraid to sell if a downtrend is expected. Even if it's only a few trades a year.
A much more efficient strategy than always holding and much safer (it allows you to avoid things like losing 70% of money invested in more than a year).

i like your postscript. this is i always try to do. i believe you either have to use bitcoin as a currency and don't even think about the market and speculations and spend it online or any other ways that are possible.
or when you decided to trade it, you shouldn't just hold your bitcoins and hope the price goes to $10K to sell then.
just look at topic "i will sell my bitcoin if price ...." the responds show that a lot of bitcoin users have this mentality to hold and hope for the break to sell then.

Rocket starts after last auction announcement (first 10% crash) or gox coins resolution.

Gox coins resolution doesn't seem to be happening any time soon.
Bitcoin looks like it is a rocket about to take off.

$1000 is a matter of years before we see it again.

There's a high enough chance of economic collapse + martial law in same time frame to launch BTC and/or gold to whatever price you can imagine.

Wandererfromthenorth, you seemed pretty dang bearish a few weeks back. What was the data/indicator that moved you?

People who got into Bitcoin on its downtrend from $600 are probably stuck and are holding on to their coins irrespective of the outlook. They would be okay with paper losses, but wouldn't want to actually book a loss.

Bitcoin is a speculation monster still in its early stages.  Since a few billion of total marketcap is still peanuts overall, it doesn't take too much for big players to pump and dump this thing to the stratosphere like in the past.

Given the nature of its market, it has pulled some no-brainer trade setups for long term plays since its inception. If price stays in this current range for a few weeks/months and breaks $315 with convincing volume and price action, this might be another one of them.
