Good posts? what do you mean? , If you think that the high quality post is enough to get merit point , then  you are so wrong. Because if there is an acceptable quality  of post  with a bad idea (Opinion) ,  then It is very certain those posts will never get a merit point.
As well, the new members can take merit points if they behave well , also they must   improve their acts. Furthermore,  the problem that many of members want to get merit point in easy ways and this will not be achieved , So everyone should give more effort in this forum.

I think it is not really unfavorable to anyone at all, but the reason why every quality post do not receive Merits is that they disappear if a lot of replies are posted after that. Now if I have sMerits to giveaway, I would probably not surf every single page of a thread to find the constructive posts and Merit them, but I would prefer Meriting the ones I come across while reading a thread. That is exactly how it is working right now. People with sMerits are rewarding the posts that are on the same page they are reading, and because of this, the constructive posts in previous pages are missed and thus a few or more than a few constructive posts get no Merits even though they deserve some.

yes I agree, most of the first post will open a wider conversation, and improve lessons from the comments given. with so many lessons to be learned, for the better in the future. thank you I really appreciate your input.

Merit system is highly unfavorable particularly to the new members for growing in the ranks but concept of "Merit" will attract crowd to the platform like steemit where power of liking good content is in the hands of all I think.

If you post consistently good material you will receive Smerit, don’t give up. Keep on going, I’ve only received 14 Merit points myself from others & I’m quite active on here.

thanks, i will try.
I appreciate your feedback, hopefully my future will make better material again.

Earning merits is not an easy task, and deciding which post will get merits is also not an easy task. Replying to all the topics is not the ambition of this forum but to help users Who need them the most is the main target for every good user. If you want to earn merit points then try to help someone not with just to post but with something really useful like a very important information or some reference. Making bigger post is not always the good option.

Thanks for your feedback, I really appreciate your input. I will try to learn again to get the best lesson.

It is not a charity platform so don't expect "favors" here. I don't know your criteria of a good post but what i have seen till now every constructive post always rewarded with merits.
If you want to say "unfair" then let me tell you what really unfair is, when a shitposter with all the shit posts in local and off topic threads become a legendary member of this forum by just increasing his/her activities while having no knowledge of bitcoin, block-chain and cryptos.

There's definitely not enough merit to go around, but every thread I visit is overflowing with padded shitposts in garbage, broken English.

You have 44 sendable merit (sMerit) which you can send to other people.

And OP isn't getting any. Not because I do not want to spend them, but because I do not want to merit garbage that he/she thinks is constructive.

There is a problem. Many local forums have some valuable posts, but very few people like it. We need to appoint some people to inspect the good posts found in all regions and reward them. Otherwise, the polarization between the rich and the poor will worsen.

The truth is that what makes a good and constructive post remains a subject of emotion determined by the person giving out the merit to the post. Like the saying, "Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder." Another person's merited post may not deserve a read by another or a second read. Besides all that, there are sections and users some people feel will always write good posts and they award them merits even when not constructive.

The concept of Merit system is genius idea to control spam and make the community more response and informative but the point is every member should cultivate to give merit to quality posts like the same way we like posts in facebook and twitter i think sooner giving merit for quality post will start

I've got the sMerit, but I don't see the posts. I don't award merit to people asking me to review their posts either, so please don't pm me, or post links for me to look at. I may put you on ignore if you do.

If we could stop all the crap posts, and tired old thread bumps, then I might have a chance of finding some posts to reward.

Maybe if everyone thinks like you, no one will complain about the merit. Spend a little time looking at the beginner's post, and give her a decent present. will make the pemuala will learn more to make a quality post.  Smiley

the formation of merit system is not without reason and purpose, all just to fix bitcoin game.
so my advice: follow what is already a bitcoin forum rules, make a quality post to get merit
thanks

I don't know, i have quite mixed feelings about the merits system. It's easy to say things like "just make a good quality post and get merits" but sometimes its not as easy as it sounds. And then I guess many people are just conservative about their merits and do not like giving them out.

the problem is a lot of sections don't have a lot of high merit users. In certain language boards and altcoin forums there are very few hero and legendary members.

It's actually favourable to new members who are willing and able to write constructive posts. The forum is much better suited to serve its purpose since the changes.

I don't think it will attract people who simple aim to have power. There may be an element of people wanting to be 'powerful' and have high ranks and many merits but they will be people who are interested in cryptocurrencies. It wouldn't be possible to receive merits if they were not.

OP's English isn't good, so frankly I question his ability to judge a good post unless it's on a local board.  I'd challenge him to give some examples of quality unmerited posts.

While I agree that OP's English is not fantastic, I would say that the assumption that someone with below average English language skills cannot judge the quality of a post is perhaps a little unfair. In fact what makes some posts so good and merit worthy is the fact that they can be understood by both native and non-native English speakers.

Why this merit doesn't get to good posts is simply because those scouting for good posts to merit, might not see much posts or maybe have exhausted all their merits.

This will only improve as more merit sources are added and there is less spam on the forum. The spam has already increased hugely in my opinion.

If I am not mistaking, merits are being shared among friends irrespective of how valuable or low quality a post is.

You're not mistaken, if you come across this then you can report it in one of the threads in the meta section. https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/list-suspected-users-that-are-abusing-merit-30-2896910

Maybe the merit thing should be looked into or everyone should stay content at their current rank.

It will be constantly reviewed and debated and hopefully improvements will be made. I think most people are of the consensus that there's not enough sMerit to go around right now and hopefully this will be the next thing Theymos will look in to. It's not impossible to rank up right now. It will take time and probably longer than it should do but if you post quality posts you can rank.

You must remember that it's been less than a month since merit was introduced and while most will agree it's far from perfect, it's a really good start.

Oh noh! Let the mercy fall upon you and me. Let merit rain in the deserving. If merit is in the hands of all, therefore I strongly conclude that unlucky we don't have yet merit. It takes time to see it in self profile... Hayy

OP's English isn't good, so frankly I question his ability to judge a good post unless it's on a local board.  I'd challenge him to give some examples of quality unmerited posts.
