Its better to buy coins and have less graphics cards at this point because some good altcoins are 80% down, here is what I did, I sold half of their entire mining rigs I have and bought some good altcoins when BTC went down to 17500$ and I am already in profit, I bought Optimism, Alephzero, seedify(3x already).
I also got lucky in the beginning. Only I also lost profits in trading. I bought ethereum for $1100 but don't know when to sell yet. If you have earned X3, then maybe you should now take the initial capital to buy video cards back. In September there will be good prices.
I am guessing the loss came from futures and margin trading? I believe that this trading strategy is wired to liquidate people, as for mining, if Ethereum merge happens and no coin is really profitable anymore many more graphics cards will flood the market again.
Greed prevented me from selling coins when I had a profit and believed in the future of some altcoins, the price of which fell. When the equipment had already paid off, I also mined various shitcoins, but I had to mine Ethereum and not listen to other miners.
No amount of believe I have so some certain altcoins when its time to sell I will sell and when its time to buy back I will do that, I remember buying PYR for 3$ years back and I sold for 30$ and all time high was 40$ before dump, I don't even care because that's the way it should be, hold for pumps and sell once pump is alive, you still like the project?then wait for dump.

I sold my 1660 that gives 25MH for 230$ each, is this a good price for this card or I am throwing away money? I bought at 300$ and I have made half of the money already, I just feel like its the right time to start buying coins direct.

From price point it's fine. However, if you are investing money to mine ETH, I will request you to exercise caution. Because since a long time, ETH algorithm change to POS is ongoing. It has not been scrapped yet. So you can expect it to happen by the end of this year.

In that case, you will either have to move your hardware to mine aome other coin or you will have to join the group of people who are planning to fork away from ETH. So think before you spend.

Most likely is the right time to buy more efficient cards then buy coins directly. The best deals now come RTX 3060 12 GB at 49 Mhsh for just 350 dollars or a bit more and the RTX 3060 ti at 61 Mhsh for 400 dollars or a bit more. These cards perform really well in a lot of algorithms so even when Ethereum mining ends you still have a lot of possibilities to continue mining.

To me your buy of 1660 it does not look a good deal but hey it depends on where you got it and what you made out of it.
I think that if the developers do not change their minds about launching a new network on September 19, then the best prices will be after this date.
That's why I'm not in a hurry to buy video cards, because there are about 40 days left. And there are no new coins for mining yet.

In my opinion you did a great deal

Bought for 300, made 150 = 150
Sold for 230 = 80 $ of profit

As FP91G said, soon after ETH move to POS cards will probably lose some value, mostly older cards like 1660, 2060, RX 580, 5700 etc
RTX 3XXX series should hold more value

This is a good market price. These video cards after mining are sold for an average of $ 220-250 per piece. After the completion of Ethereum mining, the price of this video card will decrease even more. Some miners buy these graphics cards, but I would prefer more powerful GPUs, such as 2060 super or 2070.
