I know some Steam gifts already had restrictions (Russia, Rest Of World etc.) but it is interesting to see that they have applied this rule to all games.

Region locking has always been a very stupid idea in my view, never understood the reasoning behind it, it's also pretty annoying the way they sometimes stagger release dates for certain countries, european countries for example often get shafted and are either provided with very limited 'legal' options not only for games but for t.v shows.

Classic example is the daily show, in order to get full episodes of a certain date, I have to go to a torrent site and download them myself because channel 4 has a monopoly over the broadcasting rights here which it barely even uses since the daily show appears in segments on its horrid streaming service and doesn't even play properly or the videos shown are out of date.

Steam is Region locking games! Mainly so that we don't buy cheap games from Russia but if you want to trade Bitcoin for a steam game you need to find a person from your country. It sucks a lot.
