Why does some people still want to use a googl service that collects personal data for the NSA?

Google authenticator works offline and can be used as an extra security measure for many non google-related websites and services, many gauth implementations are open source too so you can easily see for yourself the verity of your statement.

Well there doesn't seem to be a lot of choice when it comes to easy to implement 2 factor authentication services. I know there is RSA and yubikey but both are considerably more difficult to implement. It would be good to see some more competition in this space.

I'm having some difficulty getting Google authenticator working. I'm on the app store on my ipad and I search for google authenticator and nothing is found.

Anybody else have a similar experience?
