Those small additions are certainly good for bitcoin adoption.
No, they aren't. How exactly is this gonna help bitcoin adoption? This is just a "comestic" thing that doesn't change anything other than instead of typing "bitcoin" you're now gonna type "BTC".

Of course it helps. People will look at BTC and ask "what is this?" I search about it.

Or they will think " so this is bitcoin symbol. Google is supporting it? Let me check it out"

@cs_moderator member of "reddit.com/r/Bitcoin" published a picture from his personal phone explaining that Google's listing Bitcoin symbol "BTC" as the first cryptocurrency to be included.

It did not appear to me but it seems to have been added according to the comments in the link[1].

[1] Wow!!!!! I just noticed that the "₿" symbol is now the first currency when u long press $ on Google keyboard.

I just updated Google Keyboard on iOS just to check the BTC symbol but it's not there. I suppose there is something that I'm missing. Can you please post the AppStore link here?

Google’s decision to include a cryptocurrency symbol in its keyboard may be Google’s second step in considering Bitcoin as the main currency. It remains to wait for Google to further legitimize cryptocurrency, also making the bitcoin symbol available for Android operating devices.

Wait, is it me or do they also have the Petro (venezuelan crypto, also known as a scamcoin1) symbol? The one that looks like a 'P' (just google "petro venezuela" to search for the Petro symbol). Weird, maybe that symbol can be used for something else? That's gotta be it, I mean, why would they have that one on their phones? I don't use iOS, btw.

That's the Russian ruble:

I am using google keyboard in my android smartphone and just updated, but I haven't seen Bitcoin icon! Maybe it is only for IOS smartphones. What does it mean? Google will be supporting Bitcoin officially very soon? Like Samsung took Bitcoin as a payment method for specific counties for a test, I hope Google will use cryptocurrency in their Adsense and other services.

Using an Oreo phone, nothing here. Would be nice if they added it. Not gonna drive up adoption but will definitely make bitcoins legitimate in the public eye.

For now I just have a shortcut for the ฿ symbol for typing bitcoins outside the forum.

This symbol may not be a big thing for them ( normal users ) but it is a big thing for us ( crypto users ) because this is another evidence that bitcoin is now being recognize by google . soon other big and popular companies will follow this idea  . this can surely help the adoption to widen drastically .

I haven't seen anything like this on my phone, Maybe my google keyboard is not yet updated, Well I really think Bitcoin is very well known by Google and many people are using the word bitcoin that is why I think Google added it, In this aspect, we can really see that Bitcoin is very popular and many people are getting to know more about it and accepting it, And Google is innovating it to the fullest.

I hope this news is not fake.I am infinitely happy for the owners of iOS. I have an Android system, so I still can not look at this update.I hope soon this symbol will appear in all keyboards. In general, this news is of course positive. Everything is moving in the right direction.

IOS user here. I also don't see the btc sign on my phone. I checked everything twice but no luck. I am still missing something probably.

Anyway This update just shows bitcoin isn't going down and will be around for many years. Other tech giants will be following google hopefully.

Is this some kind of prank of Google? I don't know any Iphone users (who are my friends) personally who downloads a 3rd party keyboard on their phones let alone it being a Google Product, so why bother adding a BTC sign when your loyal Android users don't receive it on their stock keyboards? This might be some kind of experiment for Google but I don't see why they just limit it for Apple products. Not even all Iphone users receive it on their Gboards as based on the Reddit article users in Europe didn't received it in their app.

I am an Android smartphone user, and right on Android there is no visible bitcoin symbol. maybe this bitcoin symbol is only available on iOS devices or special cellphones. despite all that, this has proven that bitcoin is already known by many people. I hope that with this news, it can restore the green market, and hope that it will soon be available in all smartphone devices.

It would be great to be able to wirte Bitcoin symbol in a keyboard easily. I use a Motorola Android and I cannot see bitcoin symbol in the keyboard as well, as many already mentioned

I've fully updated my Motorola G6 Plus and I don't see it either.
I'm running Stock Android, so it should really be fully updated.

I don't know, maybe they just haven't pushed the update yet for my device?

Anyway, it would actually be pretty handy if it got added. I do type 'Bitcoin' quite a lot in conversations.

I am an iOS user but I don't see the Bitcoin logo appearing on my keyboard. Do I have to update the iOS software to the latest version?

Silly question but how did you check it? did you hold down the "$" button? and made sure google keyboard is at its latest version? You can also try reinstalling the app.

If the problem still persist, I guess you can try that? since I'm out of ideas on what is left to try lol. Hope you can enable it somehow, gl!

With android device it might delay for some time. I haven't seen this with my Google keyboard. ios might have got the update, this update will get added to the Android platform later as initial updates most of the time takes place with ios platform. If that's true, bitcoin is proving itself good in the market.
