Source: https://captainaltcoin.com/facebook-caved-in-to-fbi-pressure-and-banned-crypto-ads-google-to-do-the-same/

It was Facebook first, I wasn't expecting Google to care but it's crazy to see the FBI involved.

But for what it's worth, I think this is good news. Those ads were terrible and I think other sites will follow suit.

Thoughts?
I think this is good and bad news. Good what fraudsters will not be able to advertise their scam projects and the bad that the popularization of cryptocurrency will decrease
This is always a problem, a new restriction is put to cryptocurrencies in order to curb the activity of scammers and yet most honest projects are the ones that end up paying the price for the scammers and yet they are always going to find a new way to promote their fake projects, so it is a shame that has come to that because this is going to slow down adoption.

I heard about these sad news, but I did not fully believe in such a turn in this situation. Can you imagine how much money Google is losing? I think that the bill goes on billions of dollars, of course, in this case, I think it could be better for bounty hunters.
Of course they are losing money but Google is an American company and they have to comply, they have no option or their CEO risk going to jail, however Google is a gigantic company while many icos are just small startups trying to make a difference so it is very obvious to me that it is a bigger hit for icos than it is for Google.

It's not new anymore, This FBI wants to manipulate the market coz i know governments will come back real soon as they reviewed all the cryptocurrency related. I watched some video that they are going to regulate bitcoin soon. I can't wait to see what will be the next event that will happen on bitcoin.

This is such a vague article with no specific measures. Anyway, even going by it, all it points to is the prevention of random ico scammers. Anyway, its laughable to imagine that kind of pressure on google and facebook by any single government authority on a global scale.

As the titans are out, there are other sources that run ads related with crypto on the internet. This is merely a battle, which crypto lost until further regulations are on.

I think that at this point it's a reasonable decision as there is a lot of ICO scam. Maybe they will reconsider when the market gets more regulated.
In the future, it would be good if they allow such advertising by companies which are registered and regulated, to make sure their ICO (or something similar) is not a scam.

this is bad news for crypto currency because it will make bitcoin price will more down again. everyone will be more agitated because they are holding bitcoins at this time. I hope Google still accepts bitcoins and will still show ads about crypto currency.

By such actions, the FBI protects the us stock market. This is my opinion. But it seems to me that this will not lead them to the desired result. The entire global financial system no longer suits people. In such circumstances, it will be difficult to convince people that there is no alternative. Investment mechanisms are also losing their relevance. ICO is only the first signals of this.

Bitgesell (BGL) Decentralized Cryptocurrency!
When there is absolutely brand new field for money without any control we have a lot of danger aspects for investors. That's why FBI and others are involved in this game. Big players dont like to give their money for free (to be cheated on). It's normal for security until we are able to get profit here.

If google are being pressured to ban crypto ads, I wonder if this will eventually transpire to Youtube videos of people shilling ICOs. i.e Suppoman, Ian Ballina etc.

This is part of an internal forces from the government. Its definitely a pleasure from the government that is forcing Google to ban cryptocurrency ads. Well, the government sees digital currency as a threat which might take away the popular fiats. But also, according to them, they are like wisely preventing people from getting scammed from fake ICOs which if you look at it differently its a good thing.

From what I understand, Facebook only bans ads that promote initial coin offering. It didn't say it will ban cryptocurrency at all, just those deceiving ICO. Maybe their algorithm can't filter out which is scam and which is not. There's a good thing though. I stopped being hooked up with scam one and started to invest with more caution from now. To be honest, some crypto ads are just to odd.

does not seem to be banned for media advertising media for this ico project, because not all that is said to be a scam or fraud, may be more stringent to be involved as a client of the parties concerned that alone I think

Google will ban crypto ads including ICO ads.
I think for the future it will be a good thing, since ICO scams are becoming more and more frequent in the past months.
Good ICOs will raise their capital anyway. For now the market will drop though.

Cryptocurrencies are at a stage where it doesn't needs platforms like Facebook and Google to promote itself. Word of mouth is happening enough that almost all the general public will know about it in a few years.
Cryptocurrencies are not that big, they may seem to be that big because we are surrounded of people that think like us, but that is not the case, now you say that cryptocurrencies can grow with word of mouth alone and while that is true how are we going to use that marketing strategy with Facebook and probably other social media websites when they are banning bitcoin ads.

Google should do a background check first. There are too many scam projects we see their advertisement in Google based ad spaces. This is not a bad news. Full ban is not appropriate but they should regulate it.
There are two problems at least. FB need to have team for ICO analysis. And the most problem is nb 2. From regulation it is one step to full control and post moderation. "Freedom of speech"?  Grin

These convince me that backdoor channel was the real reason on Facebook banning the crypto ads. I cannot blame FBI for doing these because as we know some ICO is really scam only. Up to now we don’t have safe guard on ICO scammer. Investor is really vulnerable on those criminal activities. I would not be surprise if someday Google will follow the suit. And if these will happen the price of BTC will surely plummeted to the lowest level this year.

This would be a good news for the bounty hunters because the only way these ICOs will be promoted is thru this forum,ICOs should give more stakes so that we as bounty hunters will do our best to promote these ICOs,shouldnt be a big problem because legit ICOs will surely gain investors and those scam ICOs wont .

Well when you have too much offers before you may likely make a wrong choice, and ads are advert to let us know new offers and some of those efforts are likely to fails and at the end it will be term scam. Me for once never like ads because it easily mislead into site that might end up scamming you or hack your account.

banning crypto in google ads this will decreasing the victim of scams but this will affect for legit ICO they only gather few investors, if all social media will ban crypto, I don't know what will happen to the market.

Legit ICOs wont give up just because of this news, they will find other ways to advertise their legit project. If all social media will ban crypto then there will be a new social media based on crypto-currency. It will be a new place to share anything related to crypto without any worry of being banned. I hope there will be someone/a group of people create a new social media based on crypto.

Facebook doesnt banned all of the ICO related advertisements, those who are getting banned were suspiciously scams and those they have acceoted are legit ICOs that is why you can still see some of the ICOs in paid advertising of facebook.Google should banned those ads so that people wont get scammed by these people, google ads should shut it down because most of the new investors are getting those scammy ads thru their advertising program.

I think this is really a good action taken by the FBI Because here not only a type of stupid ads were flowing but also these were really terrible .
I remembered well that about 4-5 months ago I found that about 3 ads in header and 2 in footer of the front Google search about bitcoin to make bitcoin multiplier to 10-100times in 10 minute and many things like the same thing to scam people .
So in my opinion it is much better to close this system , if any platform that will be really better then surely it will comes into famouse use easily without any big advertisement .
So this is better type of force by the FBI is going to the Google for the better future of the cryptocurrency with less scam like things .

Wow,  it is completely a red flag for crypto community,  if Google stops advertising ICO, less people will be involved in crypto and capitalisation will grow with lower pace

Hmm maybe, but on the other hand, I think there will also be less scammy ICOs. I think that's the intent anyway.

I have just checked some other crypto related websites and non of them posted this news yet. So makes some doubts about the quality of the sources. Anyway there is a fact that Google ads is a complete bullshit. One half of those ads if promoting phishing websites and the other half is showing you different scam ICOs. I'm sure that Google will either ban it or improve the moderation.

This is as far as I could trace the source: https://www.timesofisrael.com/regulator-calls-on-google-to-ban-ads-for-binary-options-and-cryptocurrencies/

And even there it doesn't link any interviews or anything. But still, I think this sounds realistic and something google might do. Only time will tell.

There are still a million ICO tracking/review sites, for example.

So, I don't think the actually good ICOs will be affected. Sure, they might not be able to advertise on FB/Google but if they're actually good, they'll be rated highly on those sites, have good word of mouth and be popular here as well.

it is obvious what they are trying to do they are trying to close any way in which your average person can get to know about cryptocurrencies this is just a form of censorship, to be honest I cannot blame them they are doing what they think is best but not for the people but for themselves since they want to maintain all their power, but we already know they're going to fail it is impossible to stop cryptocurrencies.

There are a lot of the "ICO"-related pages have already removed from Facebook. But they are making a new one with the different name to their page, like from ...ICO to ...App (sorry not gonna tell the name), but until now it's still allowed to post about their ICO.

Even if these major companies are starting to ban the advertisement for the crypto projects and coins more and more people are getting involved in the ICO projects and crypto market. This new market industry is unstoppable and FBI cannot do anything about it. In some way, I approve the banning because some of the ads were pretty annoying and some of these ads were even leading to the scam projects. Looking in another way some of the good projects will maybe be unspotted because of this new decision by the Google. We must be patient and wait for the evolvement of the current situation after this unexpected decision by this major company.

I'm not sure if FB went ahead and actually started regulating the policy (I've seen way less crypto ads though in the past now), but I think they'll eventually ban them completely. And I think Google will do the same, just might take a bit of time.

Actually I have been think facebook is by regulatory pressure, so chose to stop the ICO campaigns because ICO advertising can bring good income to facebook, so if there were no legal problems, they will not choose to give up ICO advertising.
