If it's true. Then you are rich by now. You can solve the remaining blocks of Bitcoin or you can brute force many accounts like it's nothing. This is the end of the world for sure. I have heard this news before and if I'm not mistaken there are now prototypes of this powerful computer. I hope it's just a hoax.
Quantum computer is not just a rumor but it's also owned by some commercial company.
The existence of a quantum computer is real dude, but people don't understand that. Basically, they must understand how a quantum computer works.
The problem is SHA 256 is not safe anymore consider it doesn't give a lot of protection as it will be so easy to be hashed and there should be a quantum resistance.
It's not the end for the world but crypto goes wild if the quantum computer will be used for crypto.

that's not true if a quantum computer is still a prototype only. Did you know about d-wave?

Some big companies like google and IBM are still developing their own Qcomputer

Hi, Friends.

Recently there was a news that a google's quantum computing breakthrough has enabled one of its machines to carry out tasks that would take a supercomputer 10,000 years to execute. I heard somewhere that the recent bear market has something to do with this news also.

So i want to know how much damage this news can make ? will it make the cryptocurrencies obsolete ? will we ever see a 20k bitcoin price ?

I am very nervous as i have invested all my current savings in the market and since then the market has gone down.
Will Google's Quantum Computer Destroy Bitcoin?

Would Quantum Computer Kill Bitcoin

Above is the list of threads that have been made related to the quantum computer from Google. There is nothing to worry about the price of bitcoin relative to quantum computer. The growth happens on its own, $20000 happens, but none is sure about the time scale.

It is too early for the quantum computers to significantly affect the crypto market.
The current decrease of bitcoin price I believe is not related with this news.
Let us stay alert and follow what's going on. We don't know yet what's the real capability of quantum computers towards crypto.

I highly doubt google will aim his quantum computing technologies on bitcoin and break it. Btw this is so unfair creation, seems it can crack any file within seconds? And what we think is protected, google makes it unprotected with it's super power abilities.
I don't know it well but does it directly mean that it can affect mining process? I mean there are asic resistant, gpu resistant too? Coins which are mined only by HDD space and etc so will that computer be useful in mining process and be able to mine all bitcoins in some seconds?

Maybe, maybe not. Quantum computing is not the same thing as a normal computer. Normal computers operate by using binary, ones and zeros, in layman's terms you could say that a regular computer checks if the switch is on and off and works like that. A quantum computer, however, works with qubit. One zero, zero one, one one, zero zero. You get the point. "I heard somewhere that the recent bear market has something to do with this news also." I don't think this is true as Quantum computing is not something that everyone can do. Forget being available for consumers, it's not even available for enterprise work. The only places that (probably) have a quantum computer are institutions. Some super-high-end universities, NASA, companies like Google and/or some governments. And of course, as I said, the technology is NOT for mining coins. And it will probably be like that for a quite a long time. But can you mine coins with quantum computers? Probably, theoretically?
