Click the links I shared...I posted it again in the other thread...but Google isn't gearing up its own cryptocoin, it's accommodating bitcoin. The release of glass later this year will have the bitcoin payment gateway - meaning everyone who gets glass, gets bitcoin...they're supporting it, as I suggested, not trying to rival it...this is a good thing Smiley

Yeah, misleading title to saw the least. The only thing I could find in the source articles that even refers to Google's stance is this:

Quote
Google’s Senior VP of Ads and Commerce, Sridhar Ramaswamy, had apparently confirmed through the e-mail that the company was in midst of a working strategy to integrate alternate payment solutions like Bitcoin.

The rest was an idea the writer came up with.

Here's another one from a couple weeks ago

http://techcrunch.com/2014/03/08/googles-jared-cohen-its-obvious-bitcoin-like-currencies-are-inevitable/

And this one is awesome too

http://gigaom.com/2014/02/26/hands-free-bitcoin-payments-with-google-glass-and-eaze-just-nod-twice/

You probably won’t see widespread adoption of Eaze soon but it’s an interesting mobile payment system that ties Google Glass with BitCoin. Using the app and a QR code for transactions, you simply nod twice to make a payment

Now...for all those who are so cocksure bitcoin is dead and there's no investment potential. you are short sighted and seriously missed the punchline here. It's here to stay. It's not WOW points...it's a very real, very enormous reality. If Google is already conditioning its products to ACCOMMODATE bitcoin, it clearly expects bitcoin isn't going anywhere.

So why the hell would you cash and bail or think the value of btc is going to fall to 0 and die off, or stay in this place it is now? The second any of these other companies people DO recognize plunk down some toys that accept bitcoin or use it, bitcoin goes UP in value.

Better pull your head out yer butt and plug in to what's up here. Srsly.  Grin

But what if....Google embraces Bitcoin and begins heavily investing in it as well as accepting it for its upcoming products?

Think the million dollar btc is a fantasy then?  Grin

Again, Google is pro transhumanism...and a digital currency isn't their forte...but supporting future technology is. Seems the better solution to counteract the paid media whore beat down of a currency that threatens the banks and government is to court Google better and get that muscle behind bitcoin...that's a way to secure a life long wealth investment...

Google already makes more money than any of us can count but it's not in the currency business. Whether Google could crush bitcoin and blow it out of the water by creating its own currency is moot, of course it could since Google is more familiar to people than Bitcoin. But Google does support future tech and the transhumanist movement so it would make them bully assholes to just snort out a platform like bitcoin they'd clearly see as the game changer...they're not stupid. They'd be more apt to get behind it and make room for it, sharing the same ultimate goal.

Even a few well timed public endorsements of BTC by Google would have enormous impact on the btc investment future and mass adoption.

The joke's on Google, because they could make a lot of money if they produced their own coin.

Sure but if they are pumping and dumping, which they need to if they wanna make any money at all, they will get bad reputation which obviously isn't something they'd like

Cryptocurrencies Exchange
Coin created by one company wouldn't make any sense.

I don't think it will go up against bitcoin very well, It might turn out to be just like all the other altcoins out there.

Update:

The OP didn't watch the video I guess.

There is nothing about Google creating a digital currency.

The guy rambles endlessly and then says "Bitcoin will take off when Google or a Google-like company creates their own digital currency".

The title of this thread is completely false.

I watched but then I looked the other articles about leaked Google e-mails and figured that there still might be something to discuss even if the particular video is pretty empty.

http://investmentwatchblog.com/google-to-launch-digital-currency-exchange-to-rival-bitcoin/

Are we going to get GoogleCoins? They are infamous for making everything on their own, so sure they'll make their own digital currency.

I'd say if it really happens it's pretty bullish because even if bitcoin itself gets new rivals, it gets positive attention to the crypto currency concept and that can't be bad.
