This is good news for crypto owners, with bitcoin advertising being permitted again/in search, at least there will be more information provided by bitcoin observers to beginners who want to enter the bitcoin community.

Good news and bad news for the cryptocurrency community. Good news is that people who uses google applications can now see crypto and Bitcoin ads that may increase the possibility of adoption. Bad news is that scammers will harm the stability of this approval from google. But I think ads will undergo intensive analysis if it really qualify to advetise and won't harm the crypto community and of course the reputation Google has.

Indeed you raised a very good point like you said that the adoption may increase due to the adoption of Google services and on the other hand, these kinds of ads may leads to open the door for scammers and the chances of being scammed may increase due to these ads in the crypto space.

As far as I remember once I created the thread where I shared the report of some recent years where the graph shows that what was the net amount that was scammed in recent years in the crypto space. here is the link to the thread....>>>[Guide] What is recommended to follow "Social Media Or DYOR" in the crypto world. well, let's see where this Google service leads us to. I was watching YouTube yesterday and it was also showing me the crypto ads... things are changing in the crypto space.

This is good news, of course, but not a big deal. In the first place, it isn't really Bitcoin that will be advertised. It's platforms of all kinds that are trying to make money out of Bitcoin's popularity. Rather than Bitcoin itself, the ones that would buy ads are actually centralized services, many of which might not even share Bitcoin's philosophy. And worse, many of which might even just be phishing sites and other scams. Google, after all, isn't that strict in screening ads.

Bitcoin has dominated all over the world, and there is nothing anybody can do to stop Bitcoin because many investors have got a lot of wealth through Bitcoin and what google just displayed will increase Bitcoin investors in the world.  For Google to give massive support to cryptocurrency in the internet, show that those doubting that cryptocurrency will not last long will be convince with this good news google spread to encourage cryptocurrency investors. But there is no way you can stop scammers not to try their best in any online but if everybody can make their personal details safe from scammers, and it will be difficult for investors coins to be put in danger.

i also recently saw Stake.com was advertised on google. the images i remember was Adesanya and the ad going to Stake.com. looks like the big tech now flipped, the news about facebook doing the same was months ago so i think when all the ICO projects are coming to be advertised on these platforms to make people invest in crypto, the price of BTC and altcoins are going to be massive. it could be a bullish market for the whole 2 years.

These tech giants can do anything to compete with each other and money, I am sure they are not flipping around because they embrace or trust crypto but to make more money and to compete with their competitors. When they started banning and removing crypto related ads it created a fud but we are surviving hence I don't think this will have much impact on crypto industries but this would be an opportunity for the scammers to start more ICO and advertise them of Google to gain trust of users.

Google have big business ecosystem and any policy change potentially can affect their business. It is not harmful if they don't accept cryptocurrency because they still can earn money from other products.

If they accept cryptocurrency while legal status is unclear, their business will have potential damage.

Similarly to Google, I believe some big audit companies will soon join cryptocurrency market. The Bitcoin Spot ETF approvals from SEC. are like unofficial announcement that the legal environment for cryptocurrency now has become more friendly and legally in the USA. Top 4 Audit companies will not refuse chances to join this potential industry if they see risk is already eliminated legally.
I have to say it has to be a slow process as well because they have probably a billion lawyers as well, so that means they will have to go through legal system to make sure that everything they are doing would be based on the book. They can't afford to do anything that could be considered even a potential of case, they have to make it all legal one by one without any single shred of doubt left.

This means, it will take time for lawyers to go through the system and the changes and approve or reject these before they could make the changes. This is why it's important that we take the win on this one, it's a good thing because they have spent some good time checking these out and they are adding it meaning they found nothing wrong with it.

Companies that have imposed serious sanctions, restrictions, criticized and banned cryptocurrencies and related content in the past years have now started to take various positive actions about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, one by one because they were forced to do so. If a business cannot keep up with change, it quickly comes to an end and Google as a business that is aware of this has made such a decision. Of course, this is just my opinion but the fact that a company that banned content related to cryptocurrencies years ago has made such a decision today also indicates this. I hope that other major digital platforms and companies will also keep up with this change and positive news in this direction will come one after another.

This is both good and not very good at the same time. The good thing is that the popularization of cryptocurrencies will not be superfluous and it will be nice if good projects are advertised on the large Internet and at the same time this is an ideal opportunity for scammers to advertise their projects, remember how in 2017 how many there were advertisements for dubious projects. I am more interested in how moderation will take place and the selection of projects and who will be released for advertising.

I would love it if Google advertise only trustworthy projects or currencies like bitcoin as you said aforementioned about scammers so I believe that if everyone starts to promote their projects through Google services even if those projects are shit or scammable the crypto space will be more terrible more than we can except. As there are still many cases where many of the users fall prey to scams or they have to face hackers who steal their money through many techniques like phishing etc... So, It will be best if Google runs ads for trustworthy projects.

Am I the only one who feels that allowing advertisements will promote fraud, since most cryptocurrency projects are high-risk investments and involve fraud, especially with Google’s policy of tracking fraudulent projects and slow closing or deleting them?
I believe that every thing that is good also have a negative side, putting aside the facts you've mentioned, which is in the area of fraud, phishing, and scams coming to a significant increase in number again, can we also try to look at the benefits that the ban lift will bring to the cryptocurrency ecosystem and market?
With the bitcoin ETF already approved, and the next bitcoin halving already getting closer and closer, and with Google lifting the ban on cryptocurrency advertisements, which may possibly cause also big platforms like Facebook to follow sort, I think the next bull run will be massive, and may Last for a long time, since we may likely see a wave of brand new people coming into the space.

All I think we have to do is to start educating our loved ones and friends who are yet to join the space, on the importance of research and possibly asking questions before hopping into any project, to avoid losing money to scam and phishing sites.

And who will advertise bitcoin on Google? Satoshi Nakamoto? Bitcoin doesn't need direct advertising.

This permission will allow shitcoins to be advertised, which will make scammers (and Google based on advertising fees) richer through advertising.

News like this makes me think that we are slowly moving towards the beginning of the hype around cryptocurrencies if large corporations begin to change their policies. Or is it due to the approval of Bitcoin ETF and the simple greed of corporations wanting their share of the crypto-pie?

you are so right about them allowing scam and phishing ads. specially facebook and twitter, they are filled with phishing ads. twitter is full of fake airdrop ads and they don't even care.
anyone can promote anything using google ads and they pretend to be strict and regulated. they are nothing but jokes.
but still a lot of people making a living out of them with working on google adsense.

It's another big huge step forward for the crypto community because this kind of exposure with Google is something that we really need this time and it will shut all hostile groups on spreading bad rumors against Bitcoin because it is now partnered with strong and decent companies such as Google. Now we are going to have more on the boat because Google ads are everywhere and no one could deny its popularity. This timing is nice since we are in the Halving season and it can create a good atmosphere for the investors and they might gonna buy more bitcoins just because of it.
Google let many scam advertisement on their platform and it's not rare to see phishing sites appear at top results if we Googling to find a website.

Their mobile application store (Google Play) does not have good security and filtering protection for users because we can get fake applications if we search in Google Play.

Google's approach in the past is against Bitcoin and cryptocurrency because they don't want to have problems with government and regulation. When they see regulation is cryptocurrency friendly, they will smell chances to get money and we are witnessing how they will get money from cryptocurrency advertisement.

Google giving the green light to advertise crypto stuff, including Bitcoin, is pretty cool. It means more projects can reach a bigger audience. And with Bitcoin ETFs getting the nod, it might bring in more traditional investors, making the whole crypto scene even more interesting. Exciting times ahead more opportunities with bitcoin

Pretty interesting how these policy lines shift as soon as there's money to be made, since bitcoin ETFs are approved.

I have come to realise that a lot of these companies make decisions that are reflective of the policy climate at the time, without much regard for the greater purpose of the things that they are advertising/serving to people.

At the end of the day profit margins need to be maintained. But either way, this is a positive development for bitcoin.

I see more scammers using Google advertising rather than the legitimate ones. Google says crypto ads are banned, but in reality that's not the case as games like Aviator is flooded across internet for some time now. So I don't see any major impact unless Google can clean themselves up.

For cryptocurrency, it's community is its biggest advertisement. No Google or Facebook can replace that. Word of mouth publicity is still the most effective way of advertising.

YouTube is one of the Google's product where all the crypto currency scams are advertised with no restrictions now allowing the sponsored ads and paid ads will make things worse, especially the scammers who don't hesitate to spend few thousands dollars to make their scheme looks legitimate.

I am not surprised either, Google is a giant company in it's own game so you should know that this will come since the ETF approval is now a success, also it's safe to say that google is doing this for their own benefit too, there are some legit crypto projects that are now using Google cloud like AGI and few others, partnership will be made, more money will come anyway, it's a win/win situation.

From my other side of view it's beneficial for crypto space in general, it's bringing in more trust and those who have been folding their hands for the past years might end up looking forward to start buying some Bitcoin, it's what we all want to see isn't it? So there is that, all in all this have it's good side too.

I'm never surprised to see cryptocurrency asset Bitcoin being advertised on Google because Google started such ad campaigns for their own benefit. Even though Google promoted such ads for their own benefit, it will bring many benefits for Bitcoin. There are many new users or those who don't know about bitcoin yet may know about bitcoin by looking at this google and show interest to invest in bitcoin. However, overall I think the Bitcoin advertising system on Google is very good.

I guess Google doesn't want to miss the train too since Bitcoin ETFs already been approved and when Google started accepting Bitcoin advertising I saw some ETFs ads when I used google, it will increase their revenue in this matter. On the other hand there will be more Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency ads incoming it's not strange especially when the bull market start.

As far as I remember, the big company Google has several times tightened regulations regarding advertising for all types of cryptocurrencies for the reason of preventing potential fraud and misleading promotions for all types of cryptocurrencies.

Searches for information on Google regarding crypto advertising regulations occurred before the previous year's halving. Bitcoin is the most intensively promoted by Google and now they are also prioritizing searches for Bitcoin, especially the search keyword Bitcoin spot ETF.

Google is a big company. In my opinion, the looser rules regarding Bitcoin and crypto advertising are part of their strategy to make a profit. The leeway comes ahead of the SEC approving spot ETFs.
It seems to me that that's good for them and most of the Bitcoin community doesn't really care about the regulatory changes that are often made regarding this type of Bitcoin advertising.

Hasn't google lifted the crypto ban on their ads couple of years ago? and from what it looks like, this policy update seems to be about "Cryptocurrency Coin Trust".
Yeah, I noticed that as well and though I haven't read through the entire document I'm surprised nobody before you has pointed that out.  Google sucks dicks, whether it comes to crypto, truth gatekeeping, or whatever else.  Whatever this new updated policy is about, I'm sure it goes against their former motto of "don't be evil".

But I'm pretty sure whatever new policy they hand out will be bypassed by scammers lol. This is why I'm honestly not really sure how much crypto ads on google help since 90% of what I encounter are cookie cutter scams.
You'd be surprised (or perhaps not) how many people fall for the most obvious scams, and with bitcoin/crypto being so speculative and red-hot, I don't doubt there are enough suckers out there who'll fall for whatever scams make it through google's net that it'll make it worthwhile for the scammers to keep trying.  They always do.

Exactly! it's just surprising that they suddenly lifted the ban for crypto related ads when they weren't crypto friendly from the very start. Google is also smart, they are only doing this for their own benefit, especially now that they know that many people are gaining knowledge and investment holding with crypto.
one of the reasons I see why they removed the ban, maybe because of the news that ETF Approval by the SEC but, they should not be trusted with the advertisements they release because we know the history of what they did before where they spread FUD and FOMO.
Whenever we see a party making such an abrupt turn we can conclude they did it simply for the benefits they think they can obtain from changing their decision, and this is exactly what Google is doing, not that I condemn them for it, however the amount of people that get scammed will increase while they fill their pockets, making myself not very enthusiastic about this as we will get a lot of people coming to the forum to complain about it during the next months and years.

Maybe there's something changes on their decision when Bitcoin ETF has been approve and now they don't want to be left behind and want to ride up with possible profits they can get from those company want to advertise their services using their platform.

What we can look up for them at the moment is they should know how to filter those platform or programs want to advertise so that they can avoid those scammer take advantage on situation since we know how huge the traffic could possible bring to those people and scammers would be lucky if they reach on more wider audiences. That's the reason why people should never believe what they see online since aside from what you said there are so many sketchy attempts there so we need to be aware on any possible crazy attempts to happen.

Youtube already does this at scale; they don't care at all. They will show you an advertisement of some fake Elon Musk launch and have a link and QR code that takes you to a scam website which embodies a classical doubler scam.

I'm still annoyed at Facebook for actually running a legit Bitcoin doubler, because now people think that these things are ok.

I saw this yesterday on Watcher Guru website. I wasn't surprised but I pick some bullet from the article that was posted and I just think that Google is full of shit and are ready to bend rules for you from their policy if you have big money they can't turned down.

For years, Google policy has never been crypto friendly with advertisement of projects, anything related to crypto or bitcoin but where the first person to bend rules for Blackrock. To think that they are ready to accept Bitcoin ETF adverts but can't do a simple, non harmful adverts for Bitcoin even when some people where are ready back then to promote Bitcoin.

Now what? Blackrock has given them what they need and are ready to make out rich for people that want ETF, they wouldn't channel the advert to people who don't understand bitcoin, it's going to be back to personalize people that discuss about bitcoin everyday and why should I buy one when I know it's easy and safer to buy real Bitcoin to my wallet. Don't trust these guys.

I think we could see some negative aspect too, this means more fraudulent projects would advertise to a wider range of people and many I'll informed persons would fall for more scams this year. 🤷‍♂️👺🙆

I also feel Blackrock has a hand in this, You know they own some shares in Google too, who knows if this makes any sense 🤔

Yes dear you raised a very good point here this will help Scamer to promote their shit projects and on the other hand, google never allowed Cryptocurrency to be advertised but the question is why Google is allowing to advertise bitcoin/cryptocurrency at this time? Well, I think Google is playing too smartly because it is so obvious Google also has an advantage of it when users run advertisements for Crytp products. So, when they notice the involvement of big institutions in Bitcoin like Blackrock approval for Bitcoin ETF they rush to allow user to run ads for crypto products so that they can have more advantages of it. The point is that the involvement of big institutions puts interest in investors to invest through ETF.

The reason why they banned it years ago was due to too much fraud. It was mostly ICOs which were all scams. Or it was some phishing sites like a fake coinbase or Gemini website which looked like the real one. They didn’t want to deal with it, so they just banned them off.

The etfs will be fine but it’s the other products which can become scams and they might change this decision again in the future. Look at twitter.  Nothing but scam phishing ads there all day with fake airdrops just to get you to connect your Metamask and steal your funds.

Google knows what they are doing when they openly allowed cryptocurrencies and related services to be advertised on their platform. Since the floodgates of ETFs were opened just a few weeks ago, they don't want to miss on the profits that these giants may give them through buying ad spaces on their search engine. It's a no brainer for them to allow these and scrap their old policy for money. As a giant advertising service, who wouldn't want to tap on that potential profits?  Grin
I like to think that they want to do that for a long time because they've been on the Internet for a long time and that they probably want to make more avenues of getting paid through advertisements and crypto not being allowed is a missed opportunity for them and now it's not anymore so they're probably going to make more money than ever before which is a nice thing to happen and it's a good thing for us bitcoiners because we're going to see more people getting into bitcoin.

Hasn't google lifted the crypto ban on their ads couple of years ago? and from what it looks like, this policy update seems to be about "Cryptocurrency Coin Trust".

I also thought so. Advertisements have been allowed since 2021. Google lifts crypto advertising ban since that time, but reading the details of that news, the permission is related to the United States.

Quote
In a long-awaited reversal of a 2018 policy decision, Google will allow crypto exchanges and wallets to advertise on its platform in the U.S. But not everyone’s happy.

https://forkast.news/google-lifts-crypto-advertising-ban/

I see Crypto ads in search results even though my IP address is not in the United States, so the ban may be lifted gradually and now globally.

Be A Digital Miner
Nobody cares about their update anyway. They and Facebook cause FUD some few years back by banning crypto related ads for no proper reason, yet they would still allow phishing scams and Ponzi schemes to be advertised, and now they made a U turn?
I have just one word for them, clowns! 🤡

Veteran investors will not be interested in this news, but newbies who have never trusted cryptocurrencies will be attracted. We should not deny that Google search is widely used on all devices today. So this will have a big impact on attracting new investors into the market. But everything has advantages and disadvantages, it will be difficult for us to avoid fraudulent projects that will also be advertised.

They are clowns or ridiculous people, whatever we call them. But what they will gain is profit and that is their main purpose because they are doing business, they are serving their own interests.

Based on Wyckoff's theory, such events usually mark the distribution stage. The spot ETF itself has become an expression of a "sell on the news" event, and Google's permissions to advertise the cryptocurrency in January 2024 means creating liquidity for such sales. Indeed, how will Grayscale sell its bitcoins if there is no liquidity in the market? And how will there be liquidity in the market in sufficient quantities if bitcoin is not advertised to the general investor public? After halving, quite a large portion of miners should go bankrupt and this could trigger short-term panic selling. This is likely to be the next stage according to Wyckoff - market movement after distribution.

The great city of God 🔥
Actually indeed it's a great welcome development to the crypto currency community at large because the ETF approval has increased the chances of more investors coming to invest into Bitcoin. Although not all investors but at least a large number of investors will adopt Bitcoin and bitcoin will be talk of the day. ETF approval of bitcoin is just like a prisoner who has just been freed from the prison. Indeed it's a welcome development.

Excel is fun
Google knows what they are doing when they openly allowed cryptocurrencies and related services to be advertised on their platform. Since the floodgates of ETFs were opened just a few weeks ago, they don't want to miss on the profits that these giants may give them through buying ad spaces on their search engine. It's a no brainer for them to allow these and scrap their old policy for money. As a giant advertising service, who wouldn't want to tap on that potential profits?  Grin

This is definitely good news for the bitcoin community

Right after SEC’s etf approval and now google allowing for advertisements, i am sure that more people are now gonna be interested in bitcoin even the general public even google is such an integral software that a lot of people use and put their trust into so them basically promoting bitcoin says a lot

I just hope that the advertisements to come out of this would share accurate and reliable information
One thing about this SEC approval for bitcoin ETF was that their will be many bodies that will have to uplift any thing that has to do with crypto ban as they will want to gain any little profit they can from the trend and the exposure that bitcoin from then onward.

Another thing here about google is they are their to serve the public why obeying regulator not to go against any rules which might be part of the reason they have to adjust the policy now and make things a bit easier for their customer now that Bitcoin has been approve even to be traded by their highest stock market, but this could just be a move by google to increase their Ads revenue as many crypto project will approach them to promote there project.

Not that happy or I don't feel anything with that news. What they should update is they upgrade their system and have a way to determine scam links and ads that are using them to scam many people. Can't they see those reports that are being done to those links that appears whenever someone is searching for crypto related things? Many of these phishing links and scam websites are even using them to advertise on their own search engine. With that, I'd be more happy to see news like that.

This clearly seems to be because of the ETF announcement. I think that Google and some other big platforms were sceptic on how to handle Bitcoin so it doesn’t affect the reputation of the brand. But for the government to see meaning in bitcoin, who else would think it’s not worth it? I remember saying something like this before that if one country starts using Bitcoin, another will trust their judgment and join them too. In this case, it’s the ETF that brought the trust.

Bitcoin has become so big in the global financial system that it can't be overlooked. With the increase in financial inflow and the attraction of reputable institutional investors, Google has no other option but to revise its policy. With the stiff competition among these investors, many of them will be willing to spend more funds on advertisement. Google knows that if they fail to revisit the former unfriendly policy, they will definitely lose a good amount of money that would have been raked in from ads.

Certainly, it will increase Bitcoin awareness because Google has many users but I am scared that the people will be misinformed. These adverts will not give people the right information because they will direct them to invest in Bitcoin through third parties. This flexible policy could also lead to an increase in the promotion of scams or fraudulent crypto projects on Google

i also recently saw Stake.com was advertised on google. the images i remember was Adesanya and the ad going to Stake.com. looks like the big tech now flipped, the news about facebook doing the same was months ago so i think when all the ICO projects are coming to be advertised on these platforms to make people invest in crypto, the price of BTC and altcoins are going to be massive. it could be a bullish market for the whole 2 years.

Cryptocurrencies and related products ....>>Here is the link where you can read the policy about the update. Must read. well before that Google never allowed advertisers to advertise  Cryptocurrency assets I think it could be a good update for the crypto space. What do you guys think about it? Must share your opinion many Thanks

It is about time they allowed cryptocurrency advertisements. They didn't allow it before because of the government's stance on cryptocurrency and how it could affect their business if the government decides to take action against them for allowing its advertisement. Following the SEC's approval of the spot bitcoin ETF, many big companies that previously refused to allow the use of cryptocurrency will reconsider because they will have the backing of the SEC, which has already accepted and approved the asset to be traded. Overall, this is for their own benefit because bitcoin already achieved more over the years and its penetration into the world of digital technology is already felt globally.

From the 29th of January Google allowed to advertise cryptocurrency assets and Bitcoin which may help to make Crypto and bitcoin more popular and as in result adoption of cryptocurrency may increase. These kinds of news put trust in investors and they rush to invest in bitcoin as ETF also has been approved.

Hasn't google lifted the crypto ban on their ads couple of years ago? and from what it looks like, this policy update seems to be about "Cryptocurrency Coin Trust".

But I'm pretty sure whatever new policy they hand out will be bypassed by scammers lol. This is why I'm honestly not really sure how much crypto ads on google help since 90% of what I encounter are cookie cutter scams.
