I don't think this is bad news for the crypto movement.
All ICOs will be in the same situation, all banned from ads on Facebook and Google.
This is valid until Google and Facebook will launch their own coins  Grin then it will be very interesting
to see how Google and Facebook will treat them

good opinion...
maybe facebook and google have a big plan about own cryptocurrency.
this is makes sense ... let's wait and see

Do you guys think crypto will end soon ? To much fud and bad news going on right now. This will and have a huge impact on the market. I started trading in mid Des 2017. And have not seen anything else than red. But still keep adding new fiat in the huge dips like we see now. You guys think its wrong to add new fiat to the game and buy alts now ?
The question is, who will make money on this? Nigativa is very much around, but I think it should not stop the new economy.

They are suing to ban cryptocurrency and ICO's but did not take the same action against the ads about Phishing websites and other malicious threats which contain viruses, scams and adware? it is reasonable to understand why they are banning ICO's and its projects but to include legitimate sites like exchanges, trading and wallet websites? this is nuts but we can see the positive side of the picture, scam projects and services will take its time and effort to advertise their platform, legitimate projects and websites don't need a flashy promotion just to attract investors and users cause they have a clear goals who have a potential to grow both the platform and the coin.

IMO this is just a FUD,if this is really true it wont affect too much because only those ICOs who are using the paid advertisement of google will be the only ones to be affected,ICOs which are using bitcointalk and bounties wont be affected too much gppgle wants to protect billions of audience from these potential scams especially those investors who arent doing their research, stupid enough to put their money without knowing these project are just a scam.

my opinion is...
Yes of course google banned all of the cryptocurrency.
But, Google management will be open ads (for crypto) if they have done completely certification.

Let's first live until June, and then we'll talk. Even if Google prohibits advertising crypto and ICO projects, then there are other sources that will take up advertising.

i thing the big giants like they are, afraid to this new (not so new) technology that rushed into the worlrd in the spheres where they had no any competitors, so now blockchain projects give more solution for different aspects of our life, and they take a piece of pie from the global market, not so big to compare, but it grows more and more, and no one can predict the future.

i doubt that FB is changed their policy because of ICO and focus on other things, it is all about money, they have big auditory, they have all information about them, they sell advertising and have good money. But blockchain is decentralised system, and those big giants can be monopoly forever

It was already discussed here at a forum 2 days ago. News is already old, but still relevant. For some investors and owners of cryptocurrencies such corporations as Google and Facebook - authorities of level of god. Therefore they perceive their decisions as a guide to action. Without trying to analyse causes and effects of such decisions. Such corporations have huge influence and if necessary can change trends in the direction necessary to them. These are commercial structures. And for business the most important in all events is an influence of all factors on profit markup in the short-term and long-term period. Besides, these companies already work together with the government. Therefore pressure of State Department isn't excluded.

The measure is part of its newly updated financial services policy that introduces limits on several services considered to be high risk.

As the excerpt from Google's "new financial product policy" highlights, the ban extends to:

"Crypto-derivatives and related content (such as ICOs, buy and sell, crypto-coin wallets and trading advice for virtual currencies)".

In addition, Google also said that aggregators and affiliates who use their ads will not be able to host promotional material related to crypto-coins.

In other words, the internet giant is effectively disabling any advertisement related to virtual currencies on their website as well as on third party website that use their ad products.

The ban, a move aimed at eliminating fraud in the cryptographic space, will also impact legitimate or "regulated" companies that offer crypto-currency services.

Speaking to CNBC, Google's director of sustainable ads, Scott Spencer, explained the measure as a precautionary and necessary to protect consumers.

"We do not have a crystal ball that reveals where the future will go with the crypto-coins, but we have seen huge consumer damage or potential injury, and this is an area we want to approach very cautiously."

The policy change comes along with the release of Google's annual "bad ad" report, which points to more than 3.2 million advertisements withdrawn in 2017 for breach of the rules.

The company also unveiled a blacklist of 90,000 sites and 700,000 mobile apps that violated advertising policies.

Google's ban follows a similar move to Facebook, which also banned crypto-coin advertising in early January this year.

Facebook criticized what it called "derogatory or deceptive promotional practices" adopted by companies promoting ICOs or crypto-coins.

According to the social network, the measure will extend to other platforms owned by Facebook, such as Instagram. "We will review these policies and how we will strengthen them as our perceptions progress," Facebook said at the time.

I will add to this statement an official source where you can see more about these threats. But how can I understand this is another news that should bring down the market.
Official source https://www.cnbc.com/2018/03/13/google-bans-crypto-ads.html (I think this is the paid news)

We are slowly transitioning in to a world whereby people are unable to make decisions for themselves. We as a race did not get to the point we are at today without making mistakes and learning from them. There is a reason it is called 'survival of the fittest'. If we had wrapped our ancestors in cotton wool many thousands of years ago then we would be a bunch of sniveling wet sacks right now. People need to be able to fuck up of their own accord, if they learn from it then good for them, if they don't then they do not deserve their wealth anyway. I'm sure that many of us on this forum have been scammed in some way before, but you pick yourself up and you learn from it and ensure that it doesn't happen again. The point of this is that it shouldn't be Google's place to do as they are doing.
