eBay and Amazon prices are NEVER a good estimate unless you are using the "Completed" option and you got at least 10+ sales in the past month or so. So basically for ASICs its a useless gauge.

Completed for X3: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=Antminer+X3&_sacat=0&rt=nc&LH_Complete=1
Completed for L3+: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=antminer+l3%2B&_sacat=0&rt=nc&LH_Complete=1

So they are selling and moving. Even with the 15% cut that eBay / PayPal take you can still make some money on them.

Opinion: I would sell the X3 1st it's worth more, generates less, has fewer coins to mine and if at any time the few that use the original cryptonight decide to fork a bit the value can drop like a rock.

There are about a billion scrypt coins out there, and the L3+ is worth less anyway. It's price on eBay has stabilized for a while now so unless something radical changes what you can get today you can probably get next month or the month after that.

I basically just checked them against eBay prices and they were far cheaper than eBay prices..
And the PSUs are bitmain PSUs..
Model:APW3++-12-1600
Both the same..

eBay and Amazon prices are NEVER a good estimate unless you are using the "Completed" option and you got at least 10+ sales in the past month or so. So basically for ASICs its a useless gauge.

For years on eBay you could find over-priced ASICs. People just put overpriced ASICs on eBay because they know eventually someone without knowledge will overpay for one. I think you can salvage the PSUs and use them yourself or sell them on eBay and get some of your money back. Maybe the fans might be useful also.

According to this...
https://minerstat.com/compare/antminer-l3plus-vs-antminer-l3plusplus

The L3+ is actually a little more efficient than the L3++ with a bit better MH/W..
Would profit about $10 a week mining XVG verge..
https://minerstat.com/coin/XVG_Scrypt

And the X3 would barely be profitable mining monero classic..

I think I am having deja-vu because I remember an exact thread like this posted maybe 6 or 12 months ago. Someone goes to a store and buys some ASIC very cheap and then later on made a thread somewhere in this "Mining" section asking if it was profitable.

I was so sure this happened that I had to look at the date to see if someone bumped this thread but it seems this is indeed a new thread. Either way the best way to determine profitability is just go to,

https://whattomine.com/miners

Put in your power cost and you are all set. If the ASIC is not listed there, like the X3 chances are its garbage. The L3++ is listed and currently under 0.10 cent power it loses about $0.30 a day, so I am assuming that the L3+ is even worse.

What type of PSU is it? If its a normal computer PSU you can just Craiglist it. Some gamer will buy it. The PSU in the Antminer S2 I used in my gaming computer for years. If its one of those screaming server PSUs that's louder than a vaccum then most likely only a miner will buy it off you.

I got them wayyyy cheaper than that eBay listing..

Anyone wanna run them and just dump on those low cap coins they are good for?
Or just buy them?

I thought they were BTC ASICS..
Had to take the shot on them..

I saw “bitmain” and they looked nice..

Did a quick search while I was in the store and saw they were like $175 each on eBay and were 2018 and still slightly “profitable” according to some calculator, so I bought em..

I’ll take $100+ship for the 2 of them including the psus..
That eBay link is like $220 each so I think that’s still pretty cheap no?

I don’t know much about mining complexities..
Like really they can’t mine anything but that one algo? Crazy...

Good thing I got these super cheap.. Anyone know what to do With them?

If you got them cheap enough eBay:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Bitmain-Antminer-X3-with-PSU-pre-owned-220kH-s/114570324299?hash=item1aacec694b:g:phYAAOSw5WVf06Dt

Not sure where you are located but if it's a cooler environment older low power miners can be used as electric space heaters.
At 465 watts I don't think it it will make noise, but if it does at that low wattage you can always swap to lower noise fans.

Looks like the only thing this asic can still mine is KRB or BCN.  Everything else has forked of CN.  Worst yet those 2 coins combined dont have $1k in worldwide volume/24hrs.  That ebay add is misleading is stating some of the coins it can mine...like all but the two i mentioned.

Maybe the psus are good for something.

Depends on how much you pay for electric, if it's low enough (almost free) then yes. You will make a few cents a day.

Keep in mind they came out early 2018 so at this point they are 3 years old.

XMR and a few other cryptonight coins have changed a bit so they can no longer be mined with the X3
The ones that did not change are minable.

Looking at offordscott's telegram feed for stuff for sale they were going for $120 in November 2019.
Take that info as you will.

I dont even know what coin they mine.

go to alt coin section ask there.

Original Cryponight, none of the updated ones.

Saw them at a pawn shop, didn’t think-just bought them.. They have bitmain psus with them..
I called their bluff of testing them and got a free 3 month warranty on them..
They look clean and shiny.. Fans aren’t even dusty..

Don’t know what to do with them.. I don’t even have a desktop computer..

Maybe I could get someone like phillipma to host them?
Or just sell them to someone here?

Are they worth anything?
I took a risk.. I don’t even know if they are profitable..
I don’t really want to say what I paid for them.. Yet..

I dont even know what coin they mine.

go to alt coin section ask there.
