Given past performance, I'm guessing that you're right there. Sure, it's a wide range, but at this point it seems like the most important thing to look at is just the order of magnitude. i.e. Will BTC keep up with increasing by an order of magnitude every 9~12 months?

In any event, I do hope you're correct.

I just read that Washington post article, what a retard! People think that you can just import the supply to dump the price! Considering the people controlling the supply are always changing. The people with the most mining power are always fluctuating and they always realize that you just can dump your coins as you make them you need to hold for better ROI or you are basically mining for free. So to get a huge dump only comes from ppl stealing them from sites... Once that stops, No more 35% drop. I watched the five, 5000 dumps during the last crash. They were all sold at the market, plus there was a huge Ddos attack on all the exchanges so ppl couldn't cancel their buy orders if they wanted to. So yeah of course the price dropped, but not because people weren't buying, Another book smart nerd that can't think for himself. Probably gloating in his office about how he thinks he can pick up some coins for 5$ around FEB.

A vulnerability is found in SHA-256 and BTC drops to nothing!

You realize that level of problem means only a temporary drop until a permanent fork occurs.

Basically the dev team would rapidly change the crypto to something more secure...there would be a fork as of block #xxxxxx and we would be back in business in no time.

If in the future a crypto change is necessary it is no where near being a "show stopper"...not at all.

I think that the price increase trend will begin to be less radical and will even out a bit and slowly so at the end of 2014, the price will be about 1500-2000. Or the price increase won't change much and it'll be anywhere from 10000-45000.

Pessimist! Smiley

I'm predicting we break $10k if the SEC approves the Winklevoss's Bitcoin Trust. That could pump $10 billion into the bitcoin market overnight.

Btc $20,000-$40,000
Ltc $1000-$2000
QRK $10-$15

What do you like about QRK? I've watched it skyrocket lately, but I'm not sure why people like it so much...

Yeah, 2,500 - I think it will fluctuate a lot...maybe 8,000 like someone else said, but it might end the year at 2,500. I think 2015 is more likely to end with bitcoin firmly within 5 digits.

OP was asking about the end of 2014.  $1500 for the end of 2013 seems about right at this pace. Wink

Many people are predicting that it will be around $10,000 by the end of next year using a logarithmic growth chart.  I think the trend line is a bit low though.  Basing on the growth that has happened this year we are looking at at least $10,000 by the middle of the year and close to $100,000 at the end of 2014 if the same rate of adoption happens next year as it has this year.  It seems crazy, but going from $10 at the beginning of 2013 to $1000 now would have seemed crazy to everyone too!

Regardless, it should be an interesting year for sure.  Grin

One year ago bitcoin was at $14. Today, it's at $972. That's about 70 times higher than it was to start the year. Where do you think bitcoin will be at by next Christmas?

If it kept up the same trajectory, it'd be at $68K!

So 70 times 972 ~ 70 000$.
It's easy math. If someone not get it I can make a chart and draw a line for illustration.

The CEO of OneID says he could see bitcoin going up 100 to 1,000 times on MarketWatch: http://blogs.marketwatch.com/thetell/2013/12/09/bitcoin-prices-could-swell-1000-times-once-grandma-knows-about-it/

At least he has the guts to throw some numbers out there, I guess...
