So far, I've found someone who can get me a server power supply (Dell PowerEdge 750w)

With a bit of research, I found this and found out I can get this down in Australia with the 4x PCIe cables.
http://www.gekkoscience.com/products/D750_supply_breakout_board.html

I have experience with messing around with electronic so this isn't too new to me to put together, but I'm wondering if a 750w server power supply will be enough at least 2 Antminer S3s. If it is I can get this all together for around 80 bucks which would be so much better than spending ~$150 and still be skimping on the power

Yep, that's my board. If you're worried if that's enough for a pair of S3, I've got hosted S3 that have been running two to a supply for months without issue. Last year I had two overclocked S1 on a supply that ran for six months without a problem, and that was around 800W draw.

If you have intentions of doing this for a while DO NOT skimp on power.
You will be able to use it and sell it for a while yet.

I have Corsairs, EVGAs, DSP-2000, Seasonic, Seasonic are the same as a cheaper brand I think ti is called XF, I do not have the cheaper brand yet, but everyone states it is the same power supply made by Seasonic, who do make great units...
You have a good selection, but many get priced higher which do not deserve it.

Server PSUs are better if you do not mind putting a board on the end and attaching some wires to screw terminals or doing your own work you can save a little.

Get at least Gold rated if you care about long term effeciency.

I'm a complete noob at mining with ASIC miners. I'm transitioning from GPU mining. What powersupply is best to use?

I've seen these:

(I have no idea how I'd apply this to my Antminer btw)
HP DL380 G4 575 w watt POWER SUPPLY Server quality suit Antminer bitcoin NEW

What is a good recommendation? (if any)

The one on Ebay has no cables, so it needs a lot of work.

Check this one out, it can power 2 S3s.

My recommendation for a consumer PSU for 2x S3s is the CX750M. Stable as hell and at a sensible price.

Any difference then the CX750 ? Basically the exact same PSU expect not Modular

Hmmmm.... So atm, I've got 2 S3s. Could I power the both of them with 1 power supply?? A Cougar CMX 850w power supply to be exact.
The reviews for the power supply look good and its got 4 PCI-e connectors.
What do you reckon??
Or do I just stick with 2 Corsair VS 550s
Sometime in the future I'll possibly have a Antminer C1 as well.

I use a RM850 Corsair to power 2 S3's  (768W at the wall). The thing about staying  with a larger PSU is when you upgrade in the future (like a S5) this PSU will be able to handle it and stay within its efficiency range, but a smaller PSU that may run one S3  (450-650W) will not.

I also have RM1000 PSU's which gives me even more flexibility when adding miners,  I have 1 S5 running off each 1000W PSU and a S3 split between the 2.( each only running one side)

I sell 750W server PSUs with the adapter board and all cabling for $50 plus shipping. They're good for two S3 each without any trouble. I've also got 2KW setups but it requires external fans. GigaMPZ (forum user pmorici) sells adapters and cabling for 800/1000W and 1200W server PSUs, not sure on current pricing.

Server PSUs with adapters are handy because the PSU is built to sustain 100% loads indefinitely and can usually run 120% rated output (though not at peak efficiency), and if the PSU smokes out it takes ten seconds to pop in a replacement since you don't have to touch the adapter and cabling.

Agree with philipma1957, S3 use 340 watt. Corsair vs450 can deliver up to 408 watt but with 83 % load, i feel sorry for the psu.
If you could spend more, corsair vs550 is good choice. It's can deliver up to 500 watt. With S3, that's 68 % load.

don't buy the server it needs an adapter and a set of wires.

your other pick is too weak.

  i think this is better

but wait for some one else to chime in on that.
