Follow up question for you who answered NO: Do you have any locked GoxCoins yourself? I believe they will resume for the simple fact that they probably will be murdered in the street otherwise. How much user $value is locked in mtgox, is that public?

There are far more reasons for them to resume the withdrawals than people realize.

True.

If they're buying their own coins, selling the coins, and repeating, they need to reinstate withdrawals to cover their tails. Because once they reinstate withdrawals, the headlines go away. If they don't there will be a greater chance of an audit.

Didn't you see these guys protesting at their office? Mt.Gox moved because fatty is afraid someone will beat him with a blue rubber ball.

I wonder if Mark has received any threats? Wouldn't surprise me, but it can't be just because there's a few protesters.

They will. I believe their problems are mainly technical, and they need to contract outside expertise to solve them. Judging from the latest update, it's going to take a while. I was hoping that they would give a timeline but obviously they haven't even finished implementing the new system.
They are too busy making money off of deposits and ongoing transactions, and the two nerds with laptops on their doorstep made them lose a lot of time going into hiding.

If there were actually serious technical problems and they had an honest desire to fix them, they would have suspended all operations and quickly made their fix.

Probably not, or not any time soon. I suspect there's more going on than just working on a fix.

Tokyo, Japan, February 20th, 2014!

Dear MtGox Customers,

Thank you for your patience this week while we are working on re-initiating bitcoin withdrawals. In addition to the technical issue, this week we have experienced some security problems, and as a result we had to relocate MtGox to our previous office building in Shibuya (details can be found here https://support.mtgox.com/home). The move, combined with some other security and technical challenges, pushed back our progress. As much as we didn’t want to only provide an “update on an update”, this is the current status. We are committed to solving this issue and will provide more information as soon as possible to keep everyone in the loop. We are very sorry for the delays and deeply appreciate your kind understanding and continuous support.

Best regards,
MtGox Team
