Listening to The Lex Friedman and Vitalik talk about ethereum for 3 hours.   He basically confirms that realistically proof of stake late 2021 maybe early 2022.

With that news I shall go looking for more cheap gpus.  Knowing that I will not find any very quickly if at all.  The hunt continues.

Two biggest whales lecture you why its terrible to be a whale, all the while POS moves on which gives the whales more power over the sheep (POW ppl); Vitalik is a Oligrach, but he likes to play the Musk came of 'I'm one of u little ppl'

POS, or "Proof of Snake", is a scam so that only the rich whales control crypto, this is not what got crypto off the ground to begin with.

Of course a rich mans greatest fear is losing he wealth, so POS is an expected outcome of the kleptocracy known as crypto

Lastly, almost everyday I google 'rtx gpu' and I find nothing, not even here in ASIA, nothing, even alibaba china, has no stock, even for garbage gtx-1070 clones, nada;

In some ways perhaps ETH taking out the profit ( ETH gains drop +50% in a month ), does some good takes the ROI off the table, so the prices must come down.

the 3070ti and 3080ti come out today.

they are crippled for mining eth.

so maybe don't buy cards for a while.

the NewEgg Shuffle is all 3080ti's

https://www.newegg.com/product-shuffle
Years ago we really have some professional modders that can make quadro cards works like normal gtx970 or so with just normal driver modding why is this difficult today? I don't know why Nvidia is doing all this when GPU mining is the main reason they are selling hard

Well the reason is that 'gamers' are the 'marketed' reason for the GPU boards, they're essentially designed to game, that why they have 3-6 HDMI ports on the card; Right now the gamers are pissed, they can't find a GPU on earth at any price, the miners don't care because they only  see ROI; So essentially the entire hobby, and the entire food-chain of developers of games goes on hold, which means that an entire multi-billion USD industry is destroyed. Certainly would have been better if some six years ago that NVIDIA just came out of 'gpu mining' cards but they didn't they stayed with the gaming roots.

Now everybody is pissed off at NVIDA,

Of course intentionally crippling cards is really bad business, this is going to hurt the gamers eventually as they cards will have no value, so the upgrade path for gamers will essentially be destroyed, its almost like the US-GOV is making decisions for NVIDIA, I mean its that incompetent, like as if FAUCCI ran NVIDIA at night after managing COVID by day.

Fees is not effecting eth price. For person who has 40000ETH paying 20-40$ fee is nothing. It is expensive for miners and small traders. It depends all in BTC. if it crashes all crashes. if it goes up all goes up. BTC is father of all coins because it has most dominance. It will be different if eth has bigger dominance than BTC but now it hasnt.

You can believe what you want but you are ignoring how fees affect trading and demand.

Sure a guy with a 50 coin move does not care if he pays 100 usd to move 50 coins.

So much volume is on defi and people are tired of moving 500 usd worth of what ever and paying 100.

So my guess is just as likely to be wrong rather than right but 2 dollar fees will mean lots of 500 usd trades and moves.

Which could raise price.

So if the fee drop moves price to 5k or 6k or 7k  mining profit is good.

Let me say at the moment viabtc is paying 115% on a block

only 15% fee.

When we were hot we were at 231% a 131% fee. this is not going to work long term it will kill trading.

Many are waiting for fees to drop and will trade more.

To give an example I can take 100 usdt on binance.us and trade it back and forth for ltc and in 1 day do 1000 trades making a lot of volume
If I did it with certain eth and DeFi coins fees would eat the trades up and I would do under 25 trades. making less volume.

Now My point is lower fees may rally eth price.  I never said they will.

You are staying that lower fees won't rally eth price.  The only way you can be sure of that is if you have time travel solved.

 Grin

But you could be correct.
I also want to see 5k-6k but i think it is not possible right now. We allready seen the top. to get there back is very difficult. In the market 1st shares holds strong hands now it looks like weaker hands holding shares and they will not last long. Im not expert just researching lately alot and would like to understand this whole mess.thats why i said fees will not effect eth price. Big holders they dont care fee price small traders also know ways to transfer with low fees. Fee issue is solved allready thats why there is TRC-20 network.

A RTX3080Ti doing 65MH for ETH mining sucks, I won't be buying this cards if this is all they can do, the normal 3080 and 3070 are lot better but if I could get at MSRP price then no worries lol 🤣 yea I'm in
Ethereum may change the algorithm next year.

To progpow?  I though the algo change was dead?
All GPU miners would be happy if Ethereum changed their algorithm to progpow.
Hardfork London, which will be in about 50 days, will be the last preparation for the change to the POS algorithm
After that, due to eip 1559, miners will have a decrease in profit, because part of the commissions will be burned.

Fees will lower and if Eth jumps to 5-7k a coin miners will earn the same amount of fiat.

This is going on from a long time now but this time it seems like they are serious about it and even write different things about where they are with it.I hope it takes as long as possible to change the algo because if they change soon, massive hashrate with flow to Ravencoin and Ethereum Classic thus making these coins worthless for profitability. They are doing fine right now so the longer it takes the happier are all the miners and not only those mining Ethereum.I am mining Ethereum and the difficulty increase can be seen day by day, means a lot of new devices are added to the network daily.I am also mining Ravencoin so I am in the best situation possible in mining by mining Ethereum,Ethereum Classic and Ravencoin and I only hope the algo change happen the furthest the possible.

Look at the tests of these video cards on other algorithms. Profit 7-8 dollars per day. They are much better than the PTX 3080.
Ethereum may change the algorithm next year.
In Europe, they were sold for $ 1,700, and I bought a boo for that price. In Russia, now their price is about $ 3,000 from hucksters.
These video cards are not available in stores.

Seems pretty risky walking around carrying those around with you. Any reason why in the world he just didn't put them in a large cardboard box or at the very least take a taxi. The guy spend like what $10K on GPUs and can't afford a $25 taxi ride and instead takes the train with GPUs out in the open like that?
I can offer 2 cases: 1. Police works fine, no more criminality. 2. Anyone can allow himself to buy 10-15 RTX3070.  Smiley
In any case, this city is a nice place. Smiley

Wondering if this is a fake pic or not.

This is why many people who buy Apple products they take it out of the Apple store bag and put it in some generic bag if they are taking the subway or bus. Carrying around an Apple store bag can make you can easy target since they are very easily resold and hold their value well.

Anyone still buying new GPUs on here? What's the actual price you are buying lately? I heard rtx3080ti and 3070ti are in the way, would make lots of sense if there is a way to get for MSRP or not too far from MSRP, right now I expect GPU demand to be lower compare to past months or am I wrong?

Yep, since I only buy RTX-3070's for $500, I buy all day long (NOT)

I only buy RTX cards, all else are now obsolete, people are now asking $2,000 for a $500 card and most of the time they are used with no warranty.

Now is the time to take  up a new hobby. Since I can no longer mine ETH with cards less than 5gb I use them to hack bitcoin.

Now the creeps have done the same thing to hard-disks, they have gone up 4x, and the ones you can buy are already dead 50% of the time.
hdd doesnt up to much, on my country still msrp, gatcha system on hdd mining and long time plotting, versus so many file hosting provider, make chia looks terible for mining

https://www.newegg.com/product-shuffle
I saw yesterday mining tests of the new 3080ti video card.
Ethereum - 65MH
But other algorithms: MTP, Octopus, CuckooCycle, Cuckaroo29s give an increase of + 12-22% to the hash rate.
The 3080ti will be an even more popular graphics card among miners.

This is not a miner, this is an avid gamer according to Nvidia

I managed to lay my hands on a 3060 brand new 3 months ago...   the Only one so far.   Not for a lack of trying.  But I refuse to pay whacky prices Id never make my money back if I did.  The rest are old crappy cards that I also refused to pay much for and thus have actually made money from them.  the only crappy cards that hasn't paid for itself is the newest and its only got 1 and 1/2 month to go.

Smart people selling gpus now. Newbies buying it now. Then newbies will sell those cards later because it will paying pennies and not worth spending time. in this market is important entry time and exit time. it same like this you are carring bag and sell to another stupid Smiley and continues it then reverse it you buy same bag from stupid. It is same market like on the street you buy cheap on time you sell expensive on time. This rule of demand and supply.

Yes true, i sell some of my old cards for good money at the moment. I can´t understand people who bought cards for the double price, this cards will ROI in 2 or 3 years maybe, if you calculating right  Wink
In September 2020 i get 13x P106-100 for 700€, now i can sell it for 2500€  Cheesy

Well last summer I bought a RTX-3070's sets @less than $500 each, and I was making $20/day on each for awhile on ETH, so I was definitely getting paid back, and all my gtx-1060, I bought for $100 new ( mostly galax +3 years ago, all still running like champs ) of course at 25MHS paid themselves off very well, at $5/day, only took 20 days to pay off.

Again the problem is that none of this stuff is available anymore

I still run rigs, but the payoff now is 1/2 what it was two months ago, so even though ETH price is down, obviously tons of people are now mining ETH. But's still worthwhile to get a few ETH every month, ... why not.

Last summer you bought rtx-3070 Huh?
Am i missing something here?
From what i know 3070 launch was 29 oct 2020
Maybe he meant last year? 500$ is the actual MSRP for RTX3070 when it was launched so I think he is accurate, if I knew that crypto mining would be so damn good this year i would have bought many more cards in December 2020, cards are so cheap at that period of time

Just yesterday read that Buterin announced that PoS will be not sooner than 2022. And if even he says about 2022, i think we can wait 2023-24.
New GPUs series may include LHR, i think that it is one more reason to wait price dump - to wait until it will be hacked.
Where did you get this news from? Can you share me the link? Vitalik buterin is a joke lol I knew they will postpone again, the only update im sure about is the EIP1559 and that's because ETH gas fee is a issue that's affecting the project itself, ETH team don't keep promises lol
Here it is.
https://cointelegraph.com/news/even-vitalik-buterin-is-surprised-at-just-how-long-eth2-is-taking

I think Vitalik Buterin can say anything he want, but his opinion does not have some great value then PoS is discussing.

one way or another it is worse time to buy gpus at this price and also when market crashing. if there any left msrp + 50-100$ then it is fine but buying cards 2x-3x-4x price is not fine. The problem is newbies dont know what price range was gpus. For example newbie thinks 500-600$ is good price for gtx1660s and buys it.if market crashes again then after that maybe 6 or 12 months later gpus will be cheap.

New GPUs series may include LHR, i think that it is one more reason to wait price dump - to wait until it will be hacked.

rtx3080ti and 3070ti I do not recommend buying, because they are very expensive and have an underestimated hash rate.

It`s too early to dump prices. In the best way it will be about MSRP at the end of 2021 or later.
I wanted to buy new GPU in the first days of 2021, but decided not to do it for the such prices. Now i think it was a mistake.
Same here, I could have bought 6x of AMD RX5700XT at that time from China at very good price, the cards where at my damn front and I'm staring at it but still felt like not buying, I regret that decision, anyways thats in the past right now, I'm sure the opportunity will come again early next year or this year ending

Go on Amazon and see price for GPU yourself, there isn't a big difference from the high price since ETH becomes profitable to mine, if you are waiting for GPU price to go down like me well you might have to wait till 1st quarter of 2022

Demand hasn’t really changed much.
