each year has a new generation. same with mining technology. Maybe next year there will be better technology than GPU. Or GPU updated better than it's at this time. most importantly we utilize the current GPU technology as well as possible.

I think GPU's are having there day now, with the rise of ASIC miners and stuff I am seriously hoping that the prices of GPU will start to slowly fall haha
My plan is to wait for the next gen gpu-s from AMD/Nvidia if mining at that moment still be profitable i will invest some money into gpu mining.
But honestly i don't think that mining will last (at last in this form) for next 5 years
