Have never seen so many posters throw cold water at good news before.

A WINCANTON graphic designer has become the first business in the area to accept bitcoins as payment.

Bobcat Media, established eight months ago by Paul McLarnon, has taken the bold step to accept the software based online payment system, after being involved with the creative side of the business.

Mr Mclarnon said: “Bitcoins are a real hot topic in the media at the moment and faith in them in the UK is growing so much that the government is now looking at ways of embracing them for the economy.

“We have already designed wraps for the UKs first bitcoin machines as well as material for a revolutionary bitcoin point of sale terminal. So because of this, Bobcat is now accepting bitcoins for payment as well as sterling.”

Last week Mr McLarnon’s handiwork attracted the attention of Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne when he used one of the machines.

He added: “Bitcoins have been a round for a number of years, but I think they are about to take off, a lot of people are now making moves to start accepting them.”

how big of a company is this exactly??

sorry to burst your bubble but if they are not very big this sholdnt really be posted here. companies far and wide are accepting bitcoins but it really only matters for the bigger ones to use it.

plus we need more actual users buying stuff with bitcoins to grow demand for use of bitcoins.

This really isn't newsworthy since there are hundreds of designers who will accept BTC. I mean India churns out literally thousands of graduates in gfx design who would love to freelance and almost certainly at cheaper rates than local businesses in Western world...

As much as it's great to see another company accept bitcoin people have been accepting bitcoin for graphics for a while now so this is really another company following in suit to be fair with the others and accepting. I see more and more companies accepting bitcoin to be honest but it's when the top businesses start accepting that I will be happy.
