Apologies for bumping an old thread, I'll delete if I find a newer one.

Bitpay lists a number of wallets as compatible but I presume there is no reason not to also use the greenbits android wallet to do exactly the same thing.   It also complies with payment protocol for some time as listed above, is that correct or anyone experienced anything different to that ?

I have greenbits on my android device and am currently new to the crypto currency world, every time i open the app it has a new address to receive bitcoins to this wallet. now is the constant changing of the address to receive bitcoins going to effect my transactions say for example I used an address to receive payouts on a miner pool but this address is no longer the address displayed by the app. Will my wallet still receive the payment. I also downloaded greenaddress on my PC and the wallet words worked fine for creating my wallet on my laptop. I am just afraid a payout may be sent and never received to my wallet. I am basically asking is the wallet number and receive address separate entities and i should think of the  changing receive address as an extra security measure that my wallet will keep track of.

For a limited time we are offering Ledger's Nano (shipped directly from Ledger) hardware wallets for people that translate GreenBits in a language not in the list (English, Swedish, French, Italian, Spanish, Hebrew)

German, Russian, Mandarin and all the rest are still available  Wink

File to translate https://github.com/greenaddress/GreenBits/blob/master/app/src/main/res/values/strings.xml

The translations can also be done on transifex (https://www.transifex.com/organization/greenaddress/dashboard/greenbits), feel free to PM me or email info at greenaddress.it  if you are interested.

Don't start before getting in touch to secure your Nano!

Suggestions:

1- I think Greenbits app should have a menu on top like the one of Strava app. See screenshot:

I would like to see on top menu an option to see the price of bitcoin on different currencies, like the bitcoin wallet app. See the screenshot:

On transaction details I would like to see the fiat price of when the transaction happened and the price now. Please implement this. Thanks

Hi,

I received a transation on greenbits and on transaction details I see that the time that happened the transaction is different of the time here in my country. Why this happens? I live in Brazil.

Instant requires 6 previous confirms for the prev out, i guess it could remove the "check box" and always do it by default if possible at all.

It really depends on how it evolves. as it is possible to "request" instant via BIP70 http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.comp.bitcoin.devel/5628

I think if someone deposit bitcoins on a 2of2 account, what is the disadvantage of NOT check instant confirmation?
I think instant confirmation should be standard for 2of2 accounts. I think the checkbox should not exist.

What do you think?

For the block never changing: are you running in a corporate wifi that only allows https and may be blocking bitcoin?

No. I'm at home wifi.

I have a 2of3 account on Greenaddress.it On settings I see this message:
(NOTE: instant transactions are not available for these accounts because GreenAddress can't protect them from double spending)
I installed greenBits and selected my 2of3 account. Go to send tab and I still see the instant transaction checkbox for 2of3 account.
I think for 2of3 accounts the checkbox should be hidden.

What do you think?

great feedback!

Thank for your suggestions, they all seems very good points.
The mnemonics is actually still available while you are inside the wallet (unless you are logged in via hardware wallet).
Entering the mnemonics on wallet creation can be a bit of a pain and if the user just copies and pastes them is probably worse.

Remembering the seed as a default choice would be quite insecure I think, after all the user is warned he should back up his seed and has access to it while in the wallet.
If he wants to have easy access the PIN provides that with a good level of security.

nice, i think this architecture is much better than the old greenaddress html thingie.

some remarks:
i sent 100 mBTC from mycelium to greenbits. it came over as "100.000" bits, while it displayed "$ 21.61" so the "thousand-mark" was the same char as the comma - incorrect and confusing.

the time received was "59 minutes" although it was just 10 seconds ago.

i wondered why it could not generate new deposit addresses offline

the qr code is "blurry"

there was no way to switch the unit bits to full bitcoins or mbtc. ( after testing more, i was able to change it in "send" but i really expected it in settings)

when trying to send back recently confirmed coins (2 conf) - i got the error msg "you need to wait 6 confirmations" - this was likely because i checked the "instant confirmation" - if this is not possible why not hide it/grey it out

when entering amounts (10 mbtc) my phone turned the screen off and on - it was changed to 9.96.. something. (also when rotating phone)

when ending the wallet i have to type in the full 24 wordlist - if i had just checked the button without actually doing the backup my coins would be gone now. i suspect the next thread will be "please help me recover my funds from greenbit" - many people just check boxes without reading it - or they make a mistake in writing down the pw. there seems to be no way to actually test the seed before depositing money.
the default should be to remember the seed and just check for pin (which i did not set)

GreenBits

GreenAddress and its team are happy to announce the availability of GreenBits in the Android Play and Fdroid open source stores.

A new, open source, snappy Android Bitcoin Wallet combining the improved security provided by multisignature and hardware wallets to enhance both security and user experience.

Based on BitcoinJ, the app supports all hardware wallets currently available including the Ledger Nano and HW.1 as well as Satoshilabs’ TREZOR and clones such as BWALLET.

The app supports the following functionality:
  • Hardware wallet support: Ledger’s Nano and Satoshilabs’ TREZOR (and clones)
  • Payment protocol aka BIP70 via clickable links, QrCode or NFC
  • HD/BIP32: deterministic and doesn’t reuse Bitcoin addresses
  • 4 or more digits PIN (with server assisted strong 256 bit AES random key) to protect against brute force attacks while providing a smooth user experience
  • 2of2 and 2of3 sub accounts to separate funds
  • Instant confirmation with supported parties, ideal for recipient double spend protection
  • All bitcoin denominations (BTC, mBTC, uBTC _and_ Bits)
  • Spending Limits in BTC or fiat terms
  • 4 different kinds of 2FA authentication (SMS, Email, OTP and robot call)
  • Sweeping paper wallets
  • The large majority of price sources in various currencies
  • Early support for Proton, Ledger’s NFC Bitcoin Wallet prototype

The app is available for both MainNet and TestNet, some functionality currently requires use of the  GreenAddress desktop app to be used (for instance enabling/disabling 2FA, Limits, initializing hardware wallets, etc).

Some have asked why we have a new app and what will happen to the old Android app we have.

While the old app provided a great amount of functionality we came to the conclusion that having a native Android app provides a better user experience and generally faster payments.

We will keep both for the time being as GreenBits becomes more robust and supports all features GreenAddress has.
