Aren't there easier ways anyway? I always hate more rules and regulations (even if they will protect us from terrorists /s), but MoneyPaks seem to be one of the worst ways to get your money into BTC. Why not just use cash, Western Union, bank transfer, etc.?

No way is perfect. MoneyPak has it's usefulness in our marketplace.

Cash is great, but not convenient. You will have to meet up with someone. You can always get robbed, too.

Western Union is good but the fees can be very high depending where funds are being sent. Plus, most sellers will want you to get off of your ass and go send cash at a location. So there goes your convenience.

Bank Transfers...like an online bank transfer? Those can be reversed fairly easily from what I hear. A wire is probably better, but high fees are usually associated with wires.

MoneyPak reversals do happen, but with proper risk mitigation MP's are a pretty handy selling method. What you really have to watch out for is GreenDot shutting you down for too many/multi-location loads. Paypal may shut you down as well.

Disgusting!  I'm not surprised after reading about Walmart taking MoneyPaks of the shelves in some stores a couple months back I believe it was.  I knew it would be matter of time before some kind of restrictions would come.  is going to be an inconvenience to some people who value their privacy and have become used to Greendot IMO.

I think they are trying to cut down on the AML violations when people are using their service.
I think this is probably true. I think a lot of people were using greendot for purposes other then what they were intended for.

Directly from rushcard.com:

Starting immediately, Walgreens and Duane Reade stores will require you to show identification when you purchase a Green Dot® MoneyPak® or add cash directly to your RushCard with Reload @ the Register™. Acceptable forms of identification may include a U.S. driver's license, state-issued ID, military ID, and passport.

Yuck. We all know buyers are not gonna like this. Of course, you can still buy elsewhere with no ID, but for how long?

MoneyPak already said that the days off the scratch off cards are winding down. I guess they want to make those last days as annoying as possible.
